Ixion Lore and Proc Attempts
You might be able to hit it with Summer Breeze from the Pixies. Maybe something dumb like remove a debuff (or give it Regain) with Summer Breeze instead of Damsel Memento. Or heal it with Autumn Breeze if that's AoE.

I'd be shocked if its something involving being buffed/debuffed by another mob cause it can spawn in the delve room with no pixies(summer breeze), so you'd have to drag it pretty far for that and no other objective requires (potentially) moving a mob several maps away...maybe 3+ enfeebles on it cause thats something most jobs can do (via magic or weapon skills).

Not sure if this matters or not but one of the wiki pages says that Fetid Ixion is an Alicorn type Monoceros and not the Ixion type. Would this have any impact on what has been tried?

They also said Triboulex is weakened by repeated usage of light damage. Maybe Ixion is something like that too. Maybe it's about quantity in short time. Maybe even it's light damage and Dia spam would work (maybe in those few kills with chests it was coincidence of trusts recasting Dia and light SCs done in the same time). One of the kills with chest was from RDM using seraph too right? I think I would go with that. Several instances of light damage in short amount of time. Who posted about getting his chest to drop? Carbuncle.Maletaru said: » Has anyone done damage primarily from behind? From Dark Ixion page: Asura.Saevel said: » yes from behind was one of the first methods attempted Searched through here and the Sortie Release - Info page and couldn't find anything about a kill doing damage primarily from behind. Rua said he killed from all sides (including behind) but didn't say where the damage was coming from, just where the killshot came from. So, has anyone actually had a tank hold the ixion and done all (or a majority) of the damage from behind? Not saying this is likely to be it, but I don't think this has been tested, though I could've missed something, the search function here leaves much to be desired. Offline

First of all make sure you have a taru tank, Let him tank Ixion South east and sacrifice him facing his horn than you have to use 3 Crit Weaponskils 1 by 1 by 3 different characters, , Chant du cygne, Ukkos fury than Vorpal blade after u raise the tank. that will break his Damage taken and u will be able to zerg right after, Sylph.Timepassesbye

To add to your list- the group I run with has tried a few things not already mentioned.
all skillchains, all 8 tier 1, the 4 tier 2, the 2 tier 3 and 4. no success. there wasn't a specific kill shot, and the skillchains weren't performed in any specific order. skillchaim/magic burst kill shot. no success only crit based weapon skills, no success every member getting at least 1 melee hit. no success no enfeebles- no success we tried a variety of gestures (I don't remember specifically which ones)- no success we tried a variety of job emotes- also no success I will add, the fact that the people who have supposedly successfully gotten this, haven't come forward with specific information makes me hesitant to believe it was actually done. Either that, or if they did get it, they threw so much stuff at it and really have no idea what action was right. When Sorti first got introduced, my group like most everyone else were using a melee/AoE setup. We initially went WHM PLD BRD COR BLU(eventually turned to GEO) & RDM. Once we started fighting Bosses we noticed that they took more light damage from Seraph Blade than anything else we were using. So then We had RDM and BLU alternate Seraph Blade (because of WS wall) for damage on Bosses which did
99k and that's the setup we used until basement Bosses were introduced. Once we got to the basement we were still using Seraph Blade for most of the damage and we were getting medals from each of the Basement NMs and not thinking too much of it. Pld pulled Bot, RDM WS's behind it, killed and medal. PLD pulled Naraka, RDM WS'd behind it, killed it and got medal. Same exact thing with the Ixion, RDM enfeebeled and killed it with Seraph Blade like we did every other NM, and chest popped. When we noticed we couldn't actually beat the basement Bosses with our setup that's when we changed to the 2x SCH,BLM,GEO setup everyone uses now and never seen medal again. I can't tell you exactly what it was to cause the box to drop but everyone who's ever gotten this medal has gotten it very early when basement Bosses was first introduced and with a melee setup, if this helps with anything. sounds like the clue is light based.
What is the rest of your 2x SCH, BLM, GEO setup? Still someone present to pull with flash? Did you try flash nova since you rearranged the party setup? Was your PLD keeping Reprisal up? Do we know what type of damage Reprisal is when it reflects back?

EDIT: Also I'll add that enlight was up for the fight too. 4 things I also have up when tanking on PLD is crusade, phalanx, enlight & Reprisal. Today i definitively will try ixion for the seal test.
Did anyone test crit hits in the front? I didnt see it mentioned in the thread Literally everyone who has ever ran Sorti and fought the Ixion has tried crit hits from the front lol
I get that
But Have you tried crits from the front facing NE? 1-crits from the front 2-light dmg 3-crits from the front 4-ebon panels 5-crits from the front facing SW 6-arm bar . . . 997-crits from the front with a dead taru in pt 998- Crits from the front AND from behind.

Has someone tried a 6-step double light yet?

I don't foresee it being something overly complicated... sure it took a bit to figure out H metal, but EGH metals are all "cause X damage this way" botulus-behind, naraka-direct, plant-indirect. I have not personally ever got F metal on any of my runs and I am not aware of anyone personally who has. But the trend on the rest would suggest something rather simple. SC damage on botulus messes with numbers and doesn't count as damage from behind. Ixion may have something similar. Also Naraka and Plant seem to be opposite of one another, I see no reason to not believe that Ixion couldn't simply be the opposite of botulus in some manner or even similar to how that objective is completed regarding that skillchain damage will skew the results from directional damage.
Over 50% damage from SC?
But it would be hard to generate more SC damage than WS damage without SAM, DNC and maybe SCH openers, so I'm a bit skeptic on that. Most (all?) objectives in Sortie seem to be pretty generic stuff that can be done by a plethora of jobs. Asura.Illuminate said: » Simonses makes a good point about trying things out without knowing what was attempted already. So I made a table. Please feel free to tell me if the conditions you tried are worded correctly. FYI for some reason the rows aren't separated by horizontal lines even though I have them in the original. If information such as "killed with WS" or "killed with nukes" isn't mentioned, then assume it's still an unknown. Note *Trusts used were Monberaux, Koru, Joachim, Quiltada, faced front **Earthsday; Trusts used were Joachim, Koru, and Ulmia. ***Used the same conditions as condition 10 (i.e., blunt damage from MNK; faced front. ****MNK and BLU used crit setup/build I will continue to update the table as people try new things. Any suggestions on the format or how to make the table useable by anyone in forums would be appreciated! I'll add that I pulled with stygian ash on RNG with sharpshot up and it landed Asura.Sechs said: » Over 50% damage from SC? Nothing stopping anyone from doing leaden with zero mab and zero wsd or aeolean while naked etc. Coupled with an allies roll, 50% sc damage is very simple. Took all our clothes off for vagary nukes. Nothing new. Really doubt that's the thing, but it would be a simple task. Busting water, ice and earth in the same fight (each dealing roughly 33%) but it didnt give anything.
Tomorrow gonna burst with light aligned nukes. Ixion was in the veelas camp, but i pulled to corridor not sure if someone mentioned it already and i don't see it in the list Illuminate made.
Since in both scenario where the chest was acquired there was a rdm (koru is a rdm) could possibly be you have to kill Ixion under certain number of enfeebling? or that u need to do a set ammount of DoT damage before getting the kill? I think we're overlooking the very basic fact that this is a unicorn. Instead of killing the thing, why not befriend it and go on magical adventures? It will hand over the metal when you have learned the true meaning of friendship.
