Admittedly I didn't count up all the miniboss muffins or their boxes in my original estimate (if you accomplish them) and was just looking at this at a glance, but still, it doesn't seem like 10k to me, though I haven't run this route, maybe you get a bunch off the trash. Nobody is suggesting 1k runs. The baseline is closer to 10k depending on your ability to complete extra objectives. The point of running through the basement is the chance at starstones, not the galli reward. Spending galli on starstones is also questionable. This is exactly it. The run I had suggested previously is the dollar mules special. You work it into your daily and cycle through the mules and in a few months for 10-15 a day they have some decent gear on a job. Between that and omen leeching for cp, and sending trove/DM extra gear they will be rando-pickup-ambu level re: gear lol. Anyone with Raetic Rod +1 know if the "Cure"+50 affects cure bombing undead in any spectacular way? It doesn't have MND or magic damage so I assume it would be awful for this but I'd like to know for sure.
Going to try Triboulex the dev approved strat for giggles. I assume Daybreak/Bunzi or Daybreak/Culminus is the way to go Edit: specifically if cure+50 affects cure 1 distortionatly for spamming vs 4 or even 6 Ragnarok.Martel

Not too surprising considering that Cure potency(and WHM empy legs effect), etc don't work on cures cast on undead either. The game essentially treats cures vs undead as white magic nukes, using all the usual magic damage things. Mab, mdmg, affinity, etc. Also, I just discovered, that the game treats them so much like nukes... that Seidr Cotehardie is procing on them. rofl. what the hell SE? That is amazing and thank you for the discovery and other info Magic damage does such a large contribution to damage that Bunzi's or mage Empy+3 sets are pretty ok. Ragnarok.Martel

Addendum. Seidr works on Banish/Holy as well. <,<
So, I guess there's a distinction between "Converts 2% of magic elemental damage dealt to MP" and Elemental Magic damage. Ragnarok.Martel said: » Addendum. I just checked it as well. Free Unlimited Cure Bombs on undead so long as you do decent damage. "magic elemental damage" reads to me as magic damage that is elemental. "Elemental Magic" referring specifically to the skill and the spells that fall under it.

I assume Daybreak/Bunzi or Daybreak/Culminus is the way to go I have killed Triboulex the dev intended way and managed 54 casts of Dia to reduce Setting the Stage to 3000 damage (split 7 ways between 3 characters, 3 trusts and a luopan). You don't need to deal a lot of damage, it's purely about how many times, so something that instacasts and instarecasts (like dia with capped FC/haste) is better than dealing a lot of damage. It annoys me immensely how they keep excluding enspells from working for effects like this.(Kei, etc)
If they made enspells work for it, it would have to be balanced so ONLY enspells worked on it, or the mechanic would just be deleted.
Enspell would permanently delete Kei's regen and RUN gets it automatically, and RDM/SCH or SCH/RDM can give it to anyone in the alliance, or any RDM or anyone/RDM can solve it themselves. A single PLD could completely negate Triboulex's mechanic by themselves. Seems like they thought throwing out the boss mechanics without any effort (except using a certain job or subjob) was not good design. Could argue the other way but I kinda see their point. I mean, as opposed to the current common strategy, where we just kill the NM before it can use the specific attack, completely bypassing the mechanic anyway?
Spamming 50+ casts is just completely impractical. Well, it's a good thing you don't need to cast that many!
30000/7 -500 per cast It'd be zero damage in 10 seconds with enlight, as opposed to 40 seconds with dia Really is a nothingburger I don’t think removing Kei’s regen would be a problem either seeing as that thing is loaded with so many mechanics that you still have to deal with after that

I will keep that in mind, but I'm also pretty set on the idea of using Chainspell for my own amusement and for 40% less MP costs. Seidr coat working is just extra icing. Edit: thank you lili for trying to warn me. That was an absolute chore. Just kill the clown in under 3 minutes. This is not lowman friendly, which is a shame Offline

Spamming 50+ casts is just completely impractical. Since its part of the Sortie, which you want to kill asap anyway, this whole mechanic is completely impractical anyway (enlight working or not), because in general you want to kill it asap regardless (even with lowman), so you can farm as much galli as possible. Where did all the posts from KujahFoxfire go?
What is the mechanic to reduce damage of Vivisection? I assume there's a similar mechanic to the 50 light damage on Tribulex.
The other day our Aita was a bit slower than usual and he managed to use Vivisection as we were running away. We all got hit, we all got full dispel, but we didn't die. Actually I think we didn't receive damage at all, or if we did it was very very low. This reminds me that someone else reported something similar many months ago and this makes me think there's totally gotta be a mechanic similar to Tribulex' one for Setting the Stage. So I'm wondering, was this mechanic ever found out? Not that it matters or anything at this point, I'm just curious. Offline

It doesn't do damage (or does reduced) without Fetters out or something like that. Wihout fetters you mean with no Fetters currently active or no fetters ever spawned?

EDIT: Actually looking back at what Kujah was trying to find out, it might be no Fetters ever spawned. Ragnarok.Martel said: » Addendum. Seidr works on Banish/Holy as well. <,< So, I guess there's a distinction between "Converts 2% of magic elemental damage dealt to MP" and Elemental Magic damage. This item has a very weird description, after looking into it. JP item description for the item has: 与えた属性魔法ダメージの2%をMPに変換 "Converts 2% of elemental magic damage dealt to MP" But 属性魔法 doesn't mean "Elemental Magic", it means "elemental magic" as in "magic with a type". (属性 = "property", e.g. "an attack with the slashing property = a slashing attack") Elemental Magic as in Fire etc. is 精霊魔法, which literally means "spirit magic", but I guess "spirit" is referring to elemental sprites here. (The elemental spirits in Secret of Mana etc. are called 精霊.) The same wording is used on the description for Spaekona's Coat, so the English translation is inconsistent. As a side note, the JP wiki for Seidr Cotehardie (https://wiki.ffo.jp/html/27344.html) says: Quote: 「与えた属性魔法ダメージの2%をMPに変換」は、「攻撃魔法詠唱後、それによって発生した与ダメージの2%分MPが回復する」というもの。 ただし、下記に挙げる制限がある。 - 消費MPを超えて回復はしない。 - 遁術や魔力の雫・魔力の泉使用中など、消費MPがゼロの時は回復しない。 - メテオ・デス使用時はMP回復しない。 "Converts 2% of elemental magic damage dealt to MP" means "after casting offensive magic, you recover 2% of the damage inflicted as MP". However, there are the following restrictions. - You cannot recover more MP than the MP cost. - You don't recover MP when no MP is consumed, e.g. if using ninjutsu or spells cast under the effects of Manawell or Manafont. - You don't recover MP when using Meteor or Death. Very bizarre that they felt the need to write "magic with a type" when as far as I know there isn't any typeless magic that players can attack with. You'd think they'd just write "Converts 2% of magic damage dealt to MP" since it's no less accurate than what the description currently has. As a complete side note, TIL that the name of the item comes from this concept: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sei%C3%B0r Meteor is typeless magic damage, and apparently the coats do fail to work on it as per that quoted section.
Ah yes, I'd forgotten that Meteor is non-elemental Elemental Magic. (...)
I guess there's no good way to write the item description with the space restrictions they had, but still, I think the English translation team kind of stepped on a rake with that one. Offline

The single one I had I popped in the Boss Room with D Boss pulled which did not trigger anything. The tinctures only receive their full effect server-wide when this NPC reports the associated Ergon Locus research is "exceptional," so consult the taru and research the ones in need. Offline

In my opinion this provides a better explanation for folks who want to try it: https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Rienne (Because, if you're like me, you've dropped and ignored tinctures completely). A coordinated server effect to raise certain ergon locus to max rank for a one minute underwhelming buff at max rank seems dumb, as best.
https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/E._Tincture_(BS) Gives Attack+100 at max rank. https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/E._Tincture_(IB) Gives HP +60/120/180/240/300 according to ffxiclopedia. From what I could find on a JP Wiki, it seems the stat mod tinctures cap at +20. Its just so underwhelming for such a short duration. I've mentioned it elsewhere but they'd be nice if they lasted 5-10m. Only use I can think of for one as they stand is popping the INT one for a single Kaustra on Aminon/Bumba.
