Ballistager (seems bugged for me, won't award it on return of a chevron)
There's a trick to this one. The chevron title needs to be active when you turn the chevron in.
Basically, when you turn in your chevron, you can no longer have the associated title. So if the title is active when you turn in the chevron, the game needs something to reset your title to- that's the Ballistager title.

Oh good, I'll try this out then. Everyone else was just saying "give it back after a week" and it wasn't working after several tries so I just moved on for now. I'll give that a whirl and make sure I put the chevron back on first, if that works I'll be down to 5 titles left hah.
Edit: prior to the update I was rank 7, the update bumped me to 8. I am still rank 8 after hitting 850 titles.
For the sake of experimentation, does anyone have 950 Titles and is Rank 9 or 1050 Titles and Rank 10?
I don't think there are any known Rank 10s at the moment, and afaik we have one confirmed Rank 9 on this forum.
I have more than a thousand titles and I'm still rank 8, so there's more to this system than titles or titles have very uneven weights.
I capped all my random sub-skills (like staff and club on PLD) and got my remaining blue magic list down to 5 (3 WKR, 2 Vagary). Still rank 8! I plan to start fighting the fish list down later tonight and unlocked Mentor status on a mule, so I can start pushing myself up to gold.

Doing a reverse count (total of 1101 titles, subtracting the ones impossible to obtain due to bugs, unimplemented, exclusive, etc) and the six I don't have yet, I get a count of 1042 owned. 1043 once I retry Ballistager. 1048 would be the most possible without doing multiple escutcheons, going to a dead server for besieged BCNMs, and/or SE fixing broken titles.
There is probably a threshold for each content where each additional thing over the cap doesn't help with mastery rank. Same idea as having all quests done in game, all RoEs yet people are still rank 7 or rank 8. Maybe there is older content we are missing like game table, brenner, all escha vorseals, hunts, mandragora jingly, all campaign ops done, etc.
But I don't think we will know for sure unless they give us a progress bar or more information from development, especially regarding the recent changes of adding more content to mastery rank.
The game also tracks:
Chat Frequency (Total number of lines written in-game to social channels)
Conversations with NPCs (Total number of times you initiated a conversation with an NPC)
Parties Joined
Alliances Joined
Battles Fought
Number of Times KO'd
Enemies Defeated (Number of times you landed the killing blow on an enemy)
GMs Calls Made
Seen from a seasonal campaign. I wouldn't be surprised if that affected something too.
For fishing stats, in addition to "have you caught every fish?" the system also tracks:
* The number of times you have cast your line.
* The number of times you caught a fish.
* Your longest fish you've caught.
* Your heaviest fish you've caught.
Not sure what the longest/heaviest fish possible is, and I definitely can't compete with OG fish botters for number of casts / catches.
I went from 58 down to 0 fish remaining now and am still rank 8.
Maybe folks with newer characters are more aware, but this NPC tells you how many Quest NPCs you have left to talk to, in Sandoria, Bastok and Windurst. (I don't know if there are more in other towns, but I'm not sure).
Sandy: None
Bastok: 1 (escorting Ken)
Windurst: None
Mhaura: None
Selbina: None
Tavnazia: None
Looks like they never added it for other expansion towns
I finished fishing up one of each fish and I'm still rank 8. I'll do Ken's shitty escort later tonight, probably.

Regarding quest "All by Myself"
I had to get someone to hold all of the mobs along the path except the worms at the end. Too hard to do solo without any help because too many mobs and very easy to get caught. It really is one of the hardest escort quests currently.
Slice of Bluetail and Ebisu+1, in the middle of the dock in the P.Isle side of the manaclipper.
I probably spent 3 hours wandering around the places it is supposed to bite and eventually ended up there.
It probably took more casts than the other 57 I fished up in the last 24 hours. Initially I thought it was glitched, but it is so weird across a so many dimensions that I now believe whoever made it at SE is just profoundly eccentric.
Level: 3
NPC price: 750G
Bite rate: almost zero
Used in: urchin sushi (before being added to the NPC iirc) and sublime afterwards
??? It looks like it is intended to be hard to catch, but catchable by anyone. I wonder if SE thought Urchin Sushi would make it worth farming back in the day
We could also just have the condition wrong (like, it needs the manaclipper to be docking or something).

I've spent probably 6+ hours in this spot using various baits, Ebisu +1 and Lu Shang's, and never seen it. Count yourself lucky for not having such a hard time with it.
For anyone that wants to share where they are with Mastery Rank and there stats on quest/missions/roe and so forth. Rank can be found in menu under Status>Profile.
Any data helps, but more data for people at rank 6 can help us find possible base requirements. Stats from other ranks also can find baselines for those as well. Obviously stats from people if they notice when they rank up will be extra useful.

Mastery Rank is a numerical value representative your completion of missions, quest, and various other types on in-game content. The higher the rank, the more you have completed. Source
The "other types of in-game content" might be hardest to figure out. Apparently at the moment Rank 6 is the cap?
Master Rank 4 with:
Rank 10 only in one city
Zilart/CoP main missions + epilogues completed
ToA/WotG/SoA/RoV main missions completed
No Addons done
451 ROE completed
Max Fame in Bastok, Windy, Sandy, Norg, Jeuno and corresponding linked areas
Relic/Empyrean/Aeonic completed, no mythics
