tbf tho ~ if protesters are preparing shields, gasoline and molotov cocktails they're looking for a fight not a protest. Unless you think that's normal armament for a protest that's suppose to be peaceful

Unless you think that's normal armament for a protest that's suppose to be peaceful What qualifies as "peaceful"? - legit question I want to know what your interpretation of a peaceful protest is. Article from the Portland Tribune that has a timeline from May 25 - July 21 https://pamplinmedia.com/pt/9-news/474579-383427-a-timeline-of-the-portland-protests-and-police-clashes From May 25 - June 30th there were protests where police used tear gas to disperse crowds. They had a police precinct set fired to and destroyed. Stores vandalized, looted and destroyed (so much so that members of the black community actually decried the violence and blamed the white people) The courthouse was vandalized and windows broken. Various hard and soft objects being thrown at police. People setting a fire at the local justice center. along with numerous arrests But yet ~ If ALL of the activity from May 25th to June 30th is "peaceful" and we want to blame the feds that Trump sent in over a month later caused it to not be peaceful. I disagree and I think you're wrong. Then we get to look at what the "peaceful" protesters are doing: We get more fires, protesters firing/throwing various projectiles and/or explosives. more people hurt on both sides. Officer getting hit in the head with a hammer. Officers being blinded. "peaceful" protester being struck by a rubber bullet which is lead to bleeding of the brain. If you said that Trump sending the Feds in may have escalated it, I may agree with you but I also believe that the Govt should be able to enforce current law and be able to protect gov. property Sending in untrained federal officers to quell a riot simply served to once again pour gasoline on the fire. This is something we have seen Trump do a lot this summer. Now as a result more protests are taking place in other cities as a direct result of Trump's actions. He has just made things worse.

There IS a distinction. doj bortac dhs don't care about the distinction. They accuse everyone of being a rioter. And because of that, now more protesters are rioting. They have worsened the problem. volkom said: » . thanks Right now in the midafternoon it's a protest. We know when it gets bad, at night. We have seen Portland authorities declare it a riot a few times and ordered them to disperse, and they have. Ok ffxiah, I don't know how you managed to onlybquote one word of volkoms post, the gremlins on this site are out of control.
They were already not peaceful.[/quote]
So all protesters are antifa? Asura.Eiryl said: » There are protestors and rioters. There IS a distinction. doj bortac dhs don't care about the distinction. They accuse everyone of being a rioter. You know, the only ones who got arrested.
Protesters did not get arrested unless they were caught breaking the law. Otherwise there wouldn't be a strong case against them which lead to their arrest.... Quote: Washington state officials confirmed Tuesday that a federal law enforcement unit is leaving Seattle after being sent to the city to quell ongoing demonstrations there. Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan (D) and Gov. Jay Inslee (D) said in a statement that the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Border Patrol Tactical Unit has left Seattle after being deployed there “without the consultation or consent of state and local officials.” “The president’s actions to target and ‘dominate’ Democratic cities through the use of federal forces is chilling. It has increased violence in Portland, Seattle and other cities across the country, which was what the president intended. Policing decisions in Seattle should be made by Chief Best – not Donald Trump, and we can rest assured that they will be,” Durkan said. The officers were first sent to Seattle last week amid a wave of national protests against systemic racism and police brutality that was sparked by the killing of George Floyd in May. The Trump administration has claimed the deployments were intended to restore “law and order” against “anarchist” demonstrators, but local officials panned the move as a provocation. “This demobilization means Washingtonians no longer have to worry about the White House's aim to provoke confrontation and undermine peaceful protests,” said Inslee. “Those peacefully protesting have raised the public's consciousness of the urgent need for racial justice, and I have no doubt they will continue to use their voices to call for action. We must continue making progress toward a better and more just Washington for everyone.” Great news for Seattle. Asura.Kingnobody said: » Garuda.Chanti said: » So all protesters are antifa? Always going to be extremists around trying to infiltrate and stir things up to make the other side look bad, but in this case the legitimate rioters are doing enough damage on their own. Here's a thing. Debating which thread this goes in, kinda ties into everything.
Live: Bezos, Zuckerberg, Cook and Pichai to testify at House hearing Antitrust Subcommittee. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTlCjd0o_JM You could always make your own thread.
You can even title it like "Anti-capitalism at work" or something like that. Meh it's wotmrthy of a thread but wouldn't get pages. Seems pointless
It seems the federal troops have pulled out of Seattle.

Ask why are they burning it down. Asura.Eiryl said: » Actually.... when they burn the city down it's the Senate's fault. Ask why are they burning it down. That's why. I mean it's more likely that it will be monitarily motivated. They weren't burning the city down at any point in the last 200 years.... so.... something mustve changed.

If they burn the city to the ground, that’s on them. Customs and Border Patrol agents were never going to stop anything like that from happening, thats not what are designed, or even trained, to do. We have a force designed to help quell riots, its called the National Guard. They have already been used successfully in a few cities. Trump's problem is, he can't tell them what to do, and he wants credit for something. So, he gets credit for causing even more protests. Quote: Up North, the feds are leaving Seattle: They withdrew today after criticism from pretty much everyone—citizens, the mayor, the governor. Or maybe they saw SPD's brute force on Saturday and figured SPD could handle the terror themselves. |
