On every account I've ever had I always made it a point to start new jobs in Gustaberg. There's just something about it.
I always loved that song
My god, the memories of my first months of play, the hours spent levelling up new jobs, camping Leaping Lizzy...
Such memories <3 This was my starting area too. Such memories...
- Accidental aggro of Quadavs checking Tough. - Pulling Leaping Lizzy before knowing what a NM was. - The countless times running through the area to get to exp parties. - A whole day spent killing bees that refused to teach "Pollen" or crabs that refused to teach "Metallic Body". Looking back, those were great times. Mattelot said: » This was my starting area too. I agree with Kireek, but music in general is fantastic in FFXI.
Even my most hated Expansion (WotG) has awesome music. Remember the Ronfaure music there? Wow, just wow. Asura.Sechs said: » I agree with Kireek, but music in general is fantastic in FFXI. I love this song, I can almost time travel back emotionally to how the game felt all that time ago listening to this music. They really hit it out of the park with the 3 starter area music, all 3 are amazing. Bastok and South Gustaberg were where I started. That hill where you can get that level 10 Great Katana from that sheep NM is the first place I died, well that lead to death, with a Goblin agroing me from a whole ramp up, chased me all the way to the Bastok gate, and killed me as I hit the zone line, before I could load out of the area.
I also had an early character that I started in Windurst, but I don't really like Sarutabarutas all that much compared to Ronfaure or Gustaberg. That character was a BLM Tarutaru who only lasted for till about level 6. Cerberus.Resetti said: » It really is crazy how good the music of FFXI is! And considering how many newer, large titles can't even come close... I'm glad I'm not the only person who has enthusiasm about the music in this game. The FFXI music is amazing. It's something that I didn't know I missed for a long time. Once I got to endgame, I muted all music and most game sounds, so that I could hear LS ppl on Vent. Then I went on a long break, uninstalled the game, came back 2-3 years later, and rediscovered the magic.
The "adventurous sounds" of Bastok/Metalworks the simple wind flute and xylophone of Gustaberg the relaxed, almost mystical sound of The Sanctuary of Zi'tah the Gregorian Chants of Dynamis all brings back such great memories. When I've been away for a few years, something will trigger my memory of Gustaberg music and it's almost always the number 1 driving factor for me to sub again so I can go listen to it while running around. I think it’s hilarious when you actually zone in and load to be dead on the other side or where it blinks black and it killed you right before the zone in. I think it’s a combination of the music being great along with the memories we associate with it at this point. Bahamut.Belkin said: » Bismarck.Snprphnx said: » The FFXI music is amazing. Thanks for all of the memories and sharing your experience everyone! I’m definitely working on more videos about the music of FFXI since I’ve had good feedback from many people! Stay tuned! |
