Over here in Central California, we've been hit with shortage of supplies and food. Bags of 50lbs rice usually around 30 jumped up to 60 dollars and also a huge shortage on that.
With the new thing coming around the corner with trump administration giving americans money will only make the prices of things go up higher and this will probably suck for a long bit but I hope it doesn't.
Wesker you won. Pls stop ; ;

If a business raised the price like that you need to report them, it's illegal in most places to do that during the national emergency.
Quote: California
Selling commodities, household essentials, fuel, etc. after a declared state of emergency for more than 10% over the cost of these items immediately preceding the declaration.
Misdemeanor, punishable by up to 1 yr. in jail and/or up to a $10,000 fine; civil penalties of up to $2,500 per violation (plus injunction and restitution). Quote: Anyone who has been a victim of price gouging, or who has information regarding potential price gouging, is asked to file a complaint at https://oag.ca.gov or by calling 800-952-5225. You can also contact your local police department or sheriff's office.

Stupid is always going to be stupid. Can't stop it. Can't fix it.
Idiocracy is a documentary from the not so distant future.
Someday (sooner than later) start subtly sterilizing before it's too late.

Yeah part of the issue is panic buying but does that give you the right to price hike though? In our current situation it's actually doing more harm than help. A lot of us are out of work because of the outbreak and some jobs aren't even paying for having to stay home to avoid contact.
At first I didn't think it would be this bad but man, it got way worse than I assumed.

It's an avalanche. One stupid *** loads up his cart with thousands of dollars of ***he doesn't need and everyone sees it and follows suit. Not because they need it now... but you have to buy it before *** number two does it and *** number three does it. It's the prisoner's dilemma.
Even rational people will start to panic buy. And you've been told since birth if people need it, it's worth more money.
What is "the prisoner's dilemma"? The prisoner's dilemma is a paradox in decision analysis in which two individuals acting in their own self-interests do not produce the optimal outcome. The typical prisoner's dilemma is set up in such a way that both parties choose to protect themselves at the expense of the other participant.

I came for the derailment and the monkeys in the zoo having a shitflinging fight.
Was not disappointed.
I'm sitting here at work, it's dead silent. No one is arresting on warrants. New policy: serious offenses only. No city warrant arrests. State warrants will be ran through our sheriff or under-sheriff prior to arrest or extraditions.
So, deputies are stuck in the office, no traffic stops, usually we're hooked up all shift. So, yeah, this is fun.
Bright side, our office is really sanitized, like you could eat off the floor in the bathroom by the urinal type of sanitized. Been cleaning like a tweeker on week long bender.
I'm trying to convince our powers that be to let me work from home, so far no luck. Immediate boss believes I would be playing video games while working (rightfully so, that mythic ain't gonna make itself).

All the people on ebay price gouging supplies need to get *** honestly. Just look at how some people selling things for double or triple the price is just dumb.

kireek said: Ultimately people need to calm down and stop panic buying and hording, that's where the problem is and they are the ones causing the issues.
I'm waiting to get one of two calls:
1. someone broke into a house to raid it for toilet paper and lysol and got smoked by the resident
2. someone broke into a house to raid it for toilet paper and lysol and killed the resident, body found by friend/family.
Neither one am I looking forward to. Neither one is more appealing than the other unless we know circumstances behind the reasoning (hoarding, desperation, profit)
We did have someone get held up by weapon for their supplies in front of a dollar store last week, so it's a matter of time.

It's also illegal to do that. Their accounts will be banned on sites like that. They are banning accounts, there is just so many doing it.
I'm starting to wonder if the barren Toilet paper aisles is on purpose, on advice from psychologists.
This way the panic is about an item that doesn't matter, instead of people panic buying water, food etc As far as this, simply have to say no, sorry. Stupid is as stupid does. There is no excuse to hoard toilet paper. It's quite possibly the least important thing you have in your household. You can clean your *** with a lot of washable stuff.

Would that not lead to even more panic? People then start turning towards their neighbors that they saw carrying in a load of groceries, perhaps they don't even see a supply they need, just know someone went shopping and had success.
Envy becomes anger, anger leads to confrontation and a feeling of entitlement (me and my family need/deserve this more), which leads to violence.
It's not rational to believe someone suggest to empty shelves and induce further panic in order to staunch panic. Humans don't work like a fire, we work like a plague.

I don't get the toilet paper thing... it does not make sense as to why people are panicking over that.

In case of quarantine and they can't leave their house for 14+ days and run out of toilet paper. I'm assuming these people have no friends and/or family to bring them any in the event they're quarantined and run out. I imagine they have no one because if their hoarding is any indication of their personality no one wants to be around them.

They can just hop in the shower worst case scenario... I don't get how thats a huge issue.

What Is this I keep reading about people needing to have badges to be out driving around? How is being alone in my car a risk to anyone? Is it already martial law time? I agree that we should be taking this pandemic seriously, but getting stopped because they want to see our badges? We don’t need no stinking badges!

Incase anyone needed any more proof how bad some of the media is being with anything related to Trump
Trump: this is the best thing since...I don't know, but it's the best, nothing's better, and I know because I know more about this than anyone ever.
Media: it kills and Trump doesn't care.
EVERYONE ELSE: we need to test this more. It may be good, it may work, but we're not 100% yet.
Trump over inflates the EVERYTHING to being the greatest, which leads the people who actually know wtf they're talking about to have to work 100X harder to correct this moron, which leads the media to go off the rails in the opposite direction.
All Trump has to do is read the *** script and stick to it. That's all. Nothing more.

If you're curious why anything the media does with trump is seemingly blown out of proportion, here's the idiot-in-chief in action, a montage
YouTube Video Placeholder
Trump suggested taking two medications together which are lethal if mixed, and his follows would literally drink the koolaid
Quote: Trump:
HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE & AZITHROMYCIN, taken together, have a real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine. Quote: Dr. Edsel Salvana
Please don't take hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) plus Azithromycin for #COVID19 UNLESS your doctor prescribes it. Both drugs affect the QT interval of your heart and can lead to arrhythmias and sudden death, especially if you are taking other meds or have a heart condition. Quote: Dr. Dena Grayson
Hydroxychloroquine (plaquenil) can prolong the QT interval (heart rhythm) and can cause a FATAL arrhythmia. Azithromycin can also prolong the QT interval, so use of these 2 drugs together should ONLY be done under the supervision of a doctor.

He was initially trying to protect the stock market from panic selling, when it became obvious it was going to be serious he changed his tune. The same thing happened all around the world in every country. It's much more sinister than that, he's a *** moron

People are panicking right now and he is trying to make them feel more secure by giving an overly positive spin on it.
Trump had a prime opportunity to do just that, to ensure and uplift the people, and instead chose to answer a benign question of "what can you say to the American people, and people around the world, that are afraid of what's to come?" (paraphrasing)
Instead of saying something helpful, uplifting, and reassuring, Trump chose to attack the reporter and go on a tirade.
So, no he isn't placing a positive spin on things to help alleviate fear, he's doing it to try to make himself look good. Trump cares about two things: his image and his money, everything else can burn.
So, today was the first case of the virus being confirmed in my rural county.
This last week has been pretty insane to start. Most grocery stores have been emptied, toilet paper is non existent. Bars, hotels, and casinos have been shutdown as of yesterday, our town relies heavily on these sources of income. There are now rumors that our mine sites will soon be shutdown as well. I plan to withdraw a substantial amount of cash from the bank tomorrow morning, and hit every store I can get my hands on to get some groceries before the hoarding gets any worse.
I have heard of California being on total lockdown, as well of rumors of people even being imprisoned for attempting to leave the state.
Curious to hear how other parts of the country are getting along, surprised there isn't an official Corona-Virus thread here yet.
Crazy stuff.
