They still haven't released the actual bill, which means just like phase 2, they are having a hard time writing it. We got this indication last night, that the actual text was tripping them up. Early indications are the Democrats won a lot of concessions, especially on the airline bailout.

They won a lot of concessions on the bailout piece, yes. Many of the requests in Pelosi’s bloat package are nowhere to be seen, though. The Green New Deal crap ain’t happening.

And no one ever expected it to. Not that there was ever any Green New Deal in her proposal. None of that stuff ever made it into the Senate negotiations. All of the actual sticking points look to have been settled in the Dems favor.

It's a shame they had to add all that ***just to get oversight on loans that should already be on all bills regardless.

From what I read they demanded Trump, his family and ALL politicians are not allowed to get any money for their companies from the bailout. Competing companies can get money, they can't.

On one hand I agree with this and on the other it's ensuring nobody with any money will ever want to be a politician in the future. Which in hand ensures the people that do run for any kind of office will be indebted to others who will give them money.

That's straight up delusional.

I'm not sure why you have to turn every piece of bipartisan legislation into "DEMS 100% VICTORY!" They didn't get everything they wanted, but then again nobody did, and that's okay. Just let everyone have a win for once, frick.

As Eiryl stated, this is idiotic. All of our politicians, until Trump, run for office knowing they aren't going to profit from it, nor do they expect to profit from it. A lot of them have a hard time financially. You are just making ***up again.

What is more profitable for Trump? The Presidential annual salary, or the money he makes from all his investments? As President, he isn't supposed to be making money off his personal dealings. Prior to Trump, other Presidents have provided their tax returns as proof...that they are focused on the dealings of our country rather than focused on personal monetary gains.

...and then there's Trump. Fighting every step of the way to make sure his returns don't see the light of day. It doesn't take a genius, even a stable one, to see exactly why that is.

Nancy is worth hundreds of millions of dollars and she gets paid 223k a year, Obama gives speeches for millions of dollars. Peopel donate to campaigs, politicians often get jobs with companies after they retire or "give speeches" to goldman sachs and the like.

When people without money are in positions of power, people with money will give it to them.

ah yes, deflection.

Yea Vic, this is just wrong.
For starters, political positions are not even supposed to be paid whatsoever and the majority of the people that hold political seats are well off even before they get those jobs. On top of that, most of those salaries are just ridiculously inflated from what they should be (minimal cost of living, etc.). That's not even taking into account whatever side-hustle they may have going on, or "gifts" from lobbyists and campaign donations.

IMHO, all politicians should be making an income equal to zero or whatever the lowest hourly wage is in their state of residence.

You are taking the most successful politicians and using them as your base line. The average incoming House Rep. is coming in looking to be taking a loss just because of living requirements.
A lot of former Congressman have talked about this, I think most recently Jason Chaffetz.

A lot of them have to own, some of them just have to rent, a home in their home district. All of them have to rent an apartment in DC. So if you are coming from an urban district, you have two expensive house payments right off the bat. Thats hard for people. Congress has given itself a lot of raises over the years because of this.

Because as I explained to Leosin, taking the most successful politicians completely ignores the actual reality of the situation for most of our Congress.

Nah, I still havent been shown one politician that has run for office and come out of that campaign in the black. Until then, my statement still stands.

The guy is/was not in the poorhouse.
If we had politicians living like university students NOT on scholarship I'd definitely have more faith in them and the job they do, but AFAIK, most, if not all politicians are much more well off than they need to be as a result of their salary alone.

Also, the core point of kireeks troll post remains wrong. Forbidding Trump from taking bailout money will in no way curtail people from running for office, and you know that Rav.

That's a pretty narrow definition of politicians not profiting from their office. There is also no definition where Trump is profiting and no other politician is.

Major networks have already been cutting away from it before it ends, its only a matter of time before they just end coverage when the QA portion begins and the lies start flowing.
