I was waiting to see which scumbag would be the first to say "Yay!", I just didn't expect it to be you. Again, you're better than this.

My guess is that he won’t be the last in Congress. Hopefully none of them die from it, but the statistics are not in favor of their ages (although their level of care will be top notch).

In a sign that McConnell is still holding out hope for a deal, he pushed the cloture vote back by 3 hours. I think the best case scenario for Moscow Mitch is he is able to strike some kind of a deal with the Dems, pass a bill, then the House Dems can pass their own legislation that they write, then the two can go to reconciliation. Thats the best case scenario for the Senate.

The problem there is that the only people who can pass term limits are the same people who don't want them.

Rand Paul criticized for using gym while waiting for coronavirus results

Quote:
Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Az.) blasted reports that Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) attended the Senate gym and swam in the pool while awaiting his COVID-19 test results, which later came back positive.

“I’ve never commented about a fellow Senator’s choices/actions. Never once. This, America, is absolutely irresponsible,” Sinema tweeted. “You cannot be near other people while waiting for coronavirus test results. It endangers others & likely increases the spread of the virus.”

Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kans.) reportedly told colleagues during a Senate Republican lunch Sunday that Paul had gone to the gym and swam Sunday morning, which was also when he received his COVID-19 test results.

Paul became the first known senator to test positive for the virus Sunday morning. A spokesman said he was asymptomatic and did not know of any infected person with whom he had contact, and that the Kentucky senator would self-quarantine.

Come on Rand. Its bad enough no one likes you, but have some self awareness. You got a coronavirus test for a reason, and you just go to the gym and work out like everything is cool? Then it comes back positive, great *** job.

Sen. Rand Paul has tested positive for coronavirus

While I would not wish this on anyone, a few people deserve it. Sen Paul is one.

That's sick, Chanti. Nobody "deserves" this, political foe or not. Bad politicians deserve to be shamed out of office, not potentially murdered by deadly viruses. Even those worthy of capital offenses have the right to not suffer cruel and unusual punishments.

From the Democrats point of view, Republicans are not human, much less "people", they don't get rights or consideration.

As expected, McConnell's cloture vote failed. He set himself up to fail when he cut Pelosi out of the negotiations. Now she takes over and they could have a bill done in the next few days.

Not only did they just test Weinstein, but he tested positive.

Even in jail he's more important than everyone else and got tested.

How did he get it in jail?

Jail is one of the most disgusting inhumane places on earth. You can't social distance locked in a box with 7 other people. You do not even get soap.

But, I would assume "he caught it" before he got there.

Sorry, not nearly all republicans deserve this but THAT ONE does.

Single handedly delaying a vote on a crona virus relief package just to grandstand?

Getting tested and THEN exposing half the senate by going to the gym and swimming pool before results were in?

Moscow Mitch reneged on quite a few things, that's why he failed. But I would still expect the stimulus checks.

What went wrong Part 1

Quote:
As the hours passed, each side ramped up its demands and backtracked on earlier offers.

Negotiators at one point had agreed to a tentative deal to provide $250 billion in rebate checks — $1,000 for every adult and $500 for each child — matched by $250 billion in expanded unemployment insurance.

But by Sunday, Republicans reverted to their initial call to mail out $1,200 rebate checks at a total cost of $300 billion.

Democrats said the GOP offer on unemployment insurance was inadequate.

The Senate bill as drafted would provide three months of unemployment insurance. Democrats want at least four months, according to a person familiar with the talks.

Republicans said they were stunned that Democrats would not accept what they called a “generous” plan.

This seems to be a minor issue, I think the Dems would accept 3 months of unemployment if they got wanted on the major issue, corporate bailout terms. Which leads us to Part 2:

Quote:
Senate Republicans on Saturday asked for $500 billion for the Treasury Department to expand a Federal Reserve corporate bailout fund to help airlines, hotel chains, energy companies and other industries facing a credit crunch because of the economic crisis.

While the money would be used for loans and not cash grants, Democrats balked because Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin would have broad latitude to distribute the relief and CEOs wouldn’t be required to keep workers on payroll in exchange for help.

Democrats also objected to what they called “weak” restrictions on corporate stock buybacks, which Mnuchin could waive.

This is outrageous in my mind. Giving the Trump admin the authority to relax or even waive restrictions on corporate buybacks is a no go. Trump has taken every opportunity to let the rich get richer and there is no reason to believe he wouldn't waive those restrictions at the first opportunity. The stimulus that actually passes will forbid all corporate buybacks by law, with no ability to bypass it.

Mitch McConnell is talking a lot of ***, but he owns this failure. The biggest stimulus in history is going to be written by both parties, and refusing to include Pelosi from the get go was a doomed expedition.

American Expert Axed From CDC Post In China Months Before Coronavirus Outbreak
The disease expert, embedded in China’s disease control agency, could have been able to get word of the outbreak out early.

HuffPo

Quote:
WASHINGTON, March 22 (Reuters) - Several months before the coronavirus pandemic began, the Trump administration eliminated a key American public health position in Beijing intended to help detect disease outbreaks in China, Reuters has learned....

the American expert, Dr. Linda Quick, was a trainer of Chinese field epidemiologists who were deployed to the epicenter of outbreaks to help track, investigate and contain diseases. As an American CDC employee, they said, Quick was in an ideal position to be the eyes and ears on the ground for the United States and other countries on the coronavirus outbreak, and might have alerted them to the growing threat weeks earlier.

No other foreign disease experts were embedded to lead the program after Quick left in July, according to the sources. Zhu said an embedded expert can often get word of outbreaks early ...

Well, the symptoms are rather similar to Anthrax, minus the skin lesions and uhh... well Anthrax is like bacterial spores I suppose, rather than a virus.
