Almost guaranteed he'll be "impeached", that only requires a slight majority of the House which the Democrats already have. It's the Senate that decides on removal or not, and that's a much higher bar.

Your confusing "impeached" with "removed from office", very very different things. Bill Clinton was impeached, he wasn't' removed from office and the Republicans had a far stronger case involving perjury then the Democrats do now.

The best way to think of it is that "impeached" is like a grand jury incitement, very low bar.
Thanks for clearing that up for me, I always wondered how Clinton (in my memory) stayed in office, yet I find out years later he was impeached. So, in any case, what exactly does impeached but not removed from office even mean? What are the repercussions?

Means absolutely jack ***, that's what.

This is probably the single biggest difference between the US system of government and the European Parliamentary system of government. The founders deliberately separated the powers of government into three distinct branches each with the ability to influence but not control the other. The majority of power was vested into Congress, which was then split into two sections to ensure it was never abused (Senate and House). The States, not Congress, elects the President of the USA, and to provide a method to remove an unfaithful President while also preventing that same President from being a puppet to Congress the impeachment process was created.

It goes like this,

The House of Representatives conducts an investigation, collects testimonies and evidence of "Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors", that's the Constitutionally defined bar that must be met. In this case you can think of the House as both Prosecution and Grand Jury, they are the ones that decide to start the whole process. A simple majority vote is all that is needed for a President to be impeached, which is the political form of an indictment saying "we think you did these bad things". The part of the house doing the impeachment draws up Articles of Impeachment, which is then voted on (requires a simple majority) and this is what goes forth to the Senate for trial.

Article 1, Section 2, Clause 5.

Article 1, Section 3, Clause 6 and 7.

The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two-thirds of the Members present.

Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States; but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.

That's right, if the House is the Prosecution, the Senate is the jury and can convict with a two thirds majority (67 votes). They also are "judge" in that they select the punishment, which can range anywhere from a bad letter to removal of office, but can not extend further then that. This is where the "A sitting President can't be charged with a crime" comes from, the Senate must first remove them from office thus removing Executive privilege and opening the possibility for a criminal trial.

Now presiding above all this, just to make sure things are Constitutional, is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Their job is to make sure Congress isn't trying to oust a President they don't like for arbitrary reasons.

So there's a quick lesson in how impeachment works, not nearly as easy as the DNC talking heads at CNN make it sound. So given that the Democrats vote to impeach President Trump for ... having Orange hair and being mean to them. The Squad and Nadler would then have to convince 67 senators, majority of which are those Deplorable Republicans, that President Trump is guilty of being mean to them.

Yeah absolutely zero probability of President Trump being removed from office. This is all political theater in preparation for the 2020 election which has already started. The Democrat <Insert faceless person here> will be battling the evil despised Trump and thus the games have begun.

As I just highlighted it's the Senate that really decides, and only with the Chief Justice ensuring no Shenanigans. It's never gotten that far though because getting that many Senators to agree is virtually impossible. Remember Presidents can only serve four years at a time for two terms, it's usually better to let the next election decide the issue.

Oh a note on the Senate, it's not an automatic trial should the house vote to impeach. It's treated like any other law, it goes to the Senate Majority Leader who schedules a hearing and a vote on whether they should even proceed.

This round is over, they jumped the gun. Public is turning against them (theres no crime anyways). Pelosi missed her window, they never counted on Trump releasing the transcript, they figured he would pull a Nixon and they could innuendo their way to a cover up.

Imagine how different this would be if Trump didn't release the transcript.

No matter, they will make another fake whistleblower soon enough, or some other thing, thats who these people are.

well sure, but they can literally draft impeachment for him having orange hair. It would be the equivalent of someone arresting a black person for being black. It’s a flagrant abuse of power but it certainly can happen.

What i was saying is that if they abuse their power like this it is going to signal to tens of millions fo people who hold hundreds of millions of guns that the time for discourse and argument is over.

Apparently a guy in LA was assaulted in a bathroom for wearing a MAGA hat. As dumb as that is, it gets dumber! The hat was designed to be ironic because it was written in Russian. In other words, a deranged lib accidentally beat up another lib and got himself arrested all because he didn't get the joke. MAGA is working in unintentional ways.
