Mika Brzezinski in Hot Water Over Pompeo 'Butt Boy' Comment
'Morning Joe' co-host apologizes after comment called homophobic

Newser

Quote:
Mika Brzezinski had to quickly apologize after referring to Mike Pompeo as a "wannabe dictator's butt boy" on Morning Joe Wednesday....
Questions:

Is it homophobic? Is it accurate?

I think it homoreferential, but not phobic.

How can anyone take vic seriously? He literally comes up one click short of facts that entirely disprove his embarrassing assertions.

Maybe you don't even know Rasmussen left the company? Wouldn't surprise me.
Stop backpedaling vic, scott rasmussen & rasmussen reports has been among the most accurate polling outfits around.

No and yes. Pompeo is almost as stupid as Bolton, and just as ineffective. The world is fleecing us. NK, Iran, Russia, China, all schooling Trump and his foreign policy team.

I think it’s because the intent is to be demeaning.
Personally I thought it only to be homophobic when be using derogatory terms regarding homosexuality/homoeroticism to deman someone who actually identifies as such.

Whereas doing to someone who identifies as straight is just *** with manhood/ego.

I’m sure others will chime in on this one.

Getting one generic ballot prediction wrong doesn’t negate an entire firm. They are still among the most accurate pollsters around.

As it turns out, nausi's favorite hyper partisan poll was the least accurate of all the pollsters when predicting the 2018 election. But hey, conspiracy theorists have to stick together.

At least nausi has admitted this is factual :)

538 was devistatingly wrong in 2016. And was wrong until the final days in 2018. Which is the whole point of this discussion, polls are widely used to make news, not report public opinion.

Which is why its fabricated *** that people don’t want a wall or aren’t with Trump in building it. But cling to your fantasy if you want, we’ll laugh all the way.

Now we are talking about 538? That's probably not a comparison you want to make, especially since Nate Silver was on point for all of 2018 (never wrong at any point of the year nausi), and was pretty much Nostradamus in 2012. Rasmussen Reports has never been in their league, even before the founder left the company.

Also, you don't determine the point of this discussion, especially since you have been in full spin/denial the entire time. My original point is still accurate lol.

I don't think it's a big deal, but given that conservatives have received worse punishments for comments that were considerably more benign, I'm going to have to go with, *summons my inner CJ*, "SHE'S A HOMOPHOBIC BIGOT WHO SHOULD BE FIRED AND CONVICTED OF TREASON!"

A phobia is a type of anxiety disorder that describes an excessive and irrational fear of a specific object, activity, or situation. Phobias involve intense fear surrounding an object or situation that realistically poses little or no real danger. They are different from common fears in that the associated anxiety is so strong it interferes with daily life and the ability to function normally. People suffering from phobias may go to extreme lengths to avoid encountering or experiencing the feared object or situation.
Though many people with phobias realize that their worry is unrealistic or unwarranted, feelings of fear and anxiety persist and seem unmanageable, leaving sufferers feeling out of control.

The American Psychiatric Association identifies three types of phobias:

Specific Phobia: Going to extreme lengths to avoid an activity or object because of fear of danger or harm.
Examples: Fear of heights, snakes, spiders
Social Phobia: A fear of being humiliated or underperforming in social situations. Also known as social anxiety disorder.
Examples: Fear of public speaking, public restrooms, eating in front of others
Agoraphobia: Feeling discomfort in situations where escape is difficult or help is not readily available.
Examples: Fear of leaving the house, public transportation, small spaces
A few of the most common specific phobias include:

Arachnophobia: fear of spiders
Ophidiophobia: fear of snakes
Acrophobia: fear of heights
Cynophobia: fear of dogs
Astraphobia: fear of thunder and/or lightning
Trypophobia: fear of holes
Aerophobia: fear of flying
Xenophobia: fear of the unknown or unfamiliar (such as foreigners)
Claustrophobia: fear of small spaces
Glossophobia: fear of public speaking
Emetophobia: fear of vomiting
Symptoms
Symptoms of phobias are similar to those of a panic attack. When faced with the specific object, activity, or situation that is the subject of intense fear, an individual with a phobia may exhibit the following symptoms:

Uncontrollable feelings of anxiety, dread, and panic
Rapid heart rate
Difficulty breathing
Sweating
Trembling, shaking
Abdominal discomfort
Tightening of the chest and feelings of choking
Nausea and dizziness
Hot or cold flashes
An overwhelming desire to escape
Causes
Most phobias develop in childhood, and are commonly passed down by a family member. However, the main cause of phobias is still unknown. Frequent causes of phobias include:

Traumatic experience involving object of fear
Experiencing a panic attack in specific situation or around an object
Witnessing someone else being harmed by specific activity or object
Hearing a tragic story involving a specific activity or object
Having phobias and fears is common, and often rational. However, if these fears begin to interfere with daily life, consult with a doctor. For example, a phobia of driving on the freeway should not be so strong that it keep a person from driving to work or school.

The key word with phobia is irrational. People who have arachnophobia have an irrational fear of spiders. If you understand that a tiny spider is essentially harmless (an easy concept to grasp) yet are still terrified of them, then that terror is irrational.

Being homophobic or transphobic is yet again, another one of these liberal buzzwords that is misused and twisted (like racist and sexist) just for its impact value. People who think homosexual coupling men isn’t the same thing as heterosexual marriage, don’t have an irrational fear of homosexuality, yet they are labed that way by ignorant leftists who don’t understand the fundamental meaning of the word.

Don’t want to give non-trans perverts an excuse to go into the women’s bathroom? It MUST be because you’re transphobic! Get woke bigot!

Think that men and women are fundamentally biologically different and those differences explain away the abundances of different outcomes we see betweenen amd women in society? That can’t be true, you must just be a sexism supporter of institutional sexism. Checkmate bigot.

Whats the phobia for people who are irrationally afraid to question their own left wing belief system?

It's about controlling and changing language and how we interact such that it's impossible for the Progressives to lose. If someone just unilaterally makes up a rule that nobody is allowed to disagree with them, how can there be any sort of productive discussion? Yet this is precisely what the left did, not just in the USA but across the world. It's the kind of behavior a spoiled rich seven year old girl would have. The kind where they just demand something and then start screaming whenever their parents try to explain why they can't have that thing they demanded.

So yeah, just imagine progressives like Zero and Vic as seven year old girls screaming for a pony for Christmas.

Gotta go with Saev on this one. Buzzwords and labels designed to shut down discussions have been a hallmark of progressive strategies for years. That's not to say that conservatives never do it too, but the Left has overused it to the point of it becoming a meme.

The right isn't competent enough to pull something like that off. Closest thing is the super religious folks who have lost nearly all power. Maybe even the McCarthy era.
