The images from 2014 were a result of a large number of unaccompanied minors being sent over the border with no place to put them. It's bad, yes, but a consequence of the government scrambling to do something with them (and to pretend this was glossed over in media discourse is pure fiction). Do you not see the difference in trying to remedy the situation by housing these children versus creating the very situation that requires them to be housed like that in the first place?

Human trafficking often provides the opportunity for smugglers to pose kids as their own in order to get in.

Why do you want to keep these kids with smugglers Pleebo?

The policy of enforcing laws that have been around for much longer than that? Put away the microscope. I know it's uncomfortable, but you need a wider lens for this problem. Laser-focusing in on Trump and Republicans is just a show of willful ignorance.

You're trying to shift the discussion elsewhere. I never said anything about greater immigration law and enforcement. Both are necessary, obviously. What isn't necessary or even tenable is a blanket policy requiring prosection of all these immigrants resulting in the separation and mass detention of their children.

Heres some kids in cages wothout their parents during the obama administration.

Well they didn't cross the border with their parents ... so it kinda makes sense no ...?

Oh, so placing kids in cages when they come without adult supervision makes perfect sense. I have new ideas for what to do with kids who trespass in my yard now!

I meant it makes sense they are without their parents because they didn't come with their parents. Duh.

But for sure, that's terrible conditions and they definitely deserve better.

The difference here is the fact the Trump administration is splitting families on purpose, on top of that he blames democrats for his policies for whatever reason ... at least it seems to be working with people like Nausi so he has no reason to stop lying.

Why do you even care really though...they aren't coming to Canada. It doesn't really effect you at all.

You can't just roll in here and conveniently set the goalposts to cover a narrow band where you feel you have the advantage. I am staying reasonably within the confines of the topic.

I'm sorry, but we just might have to touch on topics don't reflect well on your side in order to have a discussion with actual meaning. If you're looking for "hurr durr Trump sucks, ur right", might I recommend CNN, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, WaPo, HuffPo, Vox, Mother Jones, YT, or anything else Chanti reads.

You're trying to say that because immigration law wasn't satisfactorily settled years ago that people can't rightfully call out terrible and cruel policies today. That's ***. The topic is family separation. It's garbage policy that could be redacted at any time by the executive branch instead of being used as a hostage tactic for further negotiations.

It sucks that there are laws and that people have to obey them. It sucks that families can be temporarily separated as a result of parents breaking laws. It sucks that people have to actually do things to emigrate legally. It sucks that there are actual locations where you can apply for asylum and you can't just walk across the border wherever you feel like and hope to get the same treatment.

It also sucks that the people who claim to be champions of immigrants aren't willing to put in the necessary effort to fix said laws. It sucks that they would rather use it as a political crutch where they paint the other side as the enemy in an attempt to get minority votes. It sucks that the welfare of the people isn't nearly as much of a priority.

tl;dr:

Its been going on for years before Trump. Just the latest manufactured fake outrage serving Obama sycophants who cannot get over their 2016 loss.

Children have only just now started to be separated from their parents because trump has decided to criminally prosecute every individual for trying to cross the border. But I understand the need for you guys to make ***up in order to run damage control for him. But hey, at least his wife has finally decided to take a stand against him.
This is 100% false. This has been happenig for years before Trump. No on cared when Obama did it, and they think we’re too dumb to verify their facts I don't like.

No it hasn't, nice try tho nausi, as usual you don't know anything. Children began being separated from their families in mass a month ago. The situation is quickly spiraling because DHS has no where to put these kids that they were not expecting to receive. They are trying to set up a tent city in El Paso, a freakin desert, that's gonna go over well.

Somehow, DHS thought that arresting the parents and separating them from their kids would reduce the amount of people trying to come to America. Of course that has blown up in their face and they are left with embarrassing press conferences and Trump lying on twitter.

Congress is going to have to step in, nobody in the Trump admin knows what to do (as usual). They have manufactured a humanitarian crisis and everyday that goes by is just going to get worse for them.

Its great to watch nausi and rav try and fail to deflect tho.

The negative levels of empathy required to cavalierly dismiss child internment camps as an inevitably of so-called law and order and as something that merely "sucks" is impressive. Lecturing on societal welfare while actively defending such practices even more so.

At least Melania has spoken out against the Trump policy of separating children from their parents, pretty sure that's the first thing she has done as first lady.
