Please, they are NOT "internment" camps. They are concentration camps.
Quote: Concentration camp, internment centre for political prisoners and members of national or minority groups who are confined for reasons of state security, exploitation, or punishment, usually by executive decree or military order. Persons are placed in such camps often on the basis of identification with a particular ethnic or political group rather than as individuals and without benefit either of indictment or fair trial. https://www.britannica.com/topic/concentration-camp
Please note these are not Nazi concentration camps nor did Nazis invent the concept.
Doesn't fit the definition. Nice try, though. Oh? How does it not fit?
Cause it's a jail.
The kids are in what's called a Detention Center, same as their adult parents. It's a nice word for saying immigration jail.
The other options currently are in foster care or on the streets, neither of which are very useful.
Now we know the Democrats want DHS to just release all the caught illegal aliens into the USA so they can disappear and birth more Democrat voters, so releasing them all seems a pretty bad idea.

Jails are for people convicted or charged with a crime. The adults are charged with a crime. The children have not been. The adults are in jail. The children are not in a jail.
They have been placed in detention by executive order on the basses of national origin and for reasons of national security.
See the definition above.

Well you obviously don't have kids. Taking little kids away from their parents for an hour would upset them.
which is why I do not take them over international borders illegally.
But but it's their right as world citizens to enter the wealthiest country they can and create more voters for that country.

Oh? How does it not fit? I mean you do know this is about immigration right? What pray tell does that non sequitur have to do with the price of cheese in China?
By fonewear 2018-06-20 15:47:08
Well if we can't put the kids in jail/prison...can we put them in a corner and make them think about how bad their parents are ?

Jails are for people convicted or charged with a crime.
That's why they call it a "Detention Center", but it's really just a jail.
They have been placed in detention by executive order on the basses of national origin and for reasons of national security.
President Trump just told DHS to follow the law.
They are in those jail cells because they violated US law by entering the country without inspection.
Now once caught they have two choices, ask for voluntary deportation, which is really fast, or ask to plead their case in front of an immigration judge. Voluntary deportation would have them back to their country of origin fairly, going through the immigration courts takes forever. The parents overwhelmingly choose to fight and thus waste a ton of time and resources just to be told by a judge they violated the law and are deported.

The real culprit behind all those chaos is President Obama who for years used executive orders to instruct DHS not to follow the law. He used those orders because he couldn't get pro-Democrat immigration reform passed that he was instructed to do. President Trump has been systematically eliminating those executive orders and returning things back to the rule of law.
If you want the law changed then talk to your congressmen, that is their job. The jobs of congressional representatives is to make laws, it's spelled out in the US Constitution. The job of the President is to execute the law, again spelled out in the US Constitution. The President should not be creating laws via executive orders.

You could alao save a ton of money by not prosecutting every single one of them and just send them back across the border.
Put whatever it's very important to send them to jail a whole 2-3 weeks to look tough.
You probably didn't read it yet. They are there because they chose to be there.
Quote: Now once caught they have two choices, ask for voluntary deportation, which is really fast, or ask to plead their case in front of an immigration judge. Voluntary deportation would have them back to their country of origin fairly, going through the immigration courts takes forever. The parents overwhelmingly choose to fight and thus waste a ton of time and resources just to be told by a judge they violated the law and are deported.
When they are inprocessed they are given a form in their native language that tells them they can choose to voluntary deport or have their situation in front of a judge. Voluntary deportations take a week or two depending on the paperwork, going in front of a judge takes months. The immigrants overwhelmingly choose to see a judge for the minuscule chance at being allowed to stay in the USA legally. They always claim refugee status, which means they can argue that they were fleeing their home country and are seeking asylum. The judges know it's *** but occasionally some do come though that have legitimate refugee cases and that's why we have due process.

Oh I see. Then...
Indefinite detention is the fault of congressional Democrats. Why won't they do anything about it?!

No they are in these special detention centers. You didn't even bother looking a the videos or pictures of inside a children's center.
They are still being prosecuted regardless. That's Trump's zero tolerance policy. If they aren't being prosecuted then they wouldn't have their children taken away during the process.
They (the parents) are being prosecuted because they broke the law. You are literally saying we shouldn't enforce the law. The children's situation is a consequence of their parents bad decisions. President Trump got elected because he said he would enforce the laws on the books, criticizing him for doing so is just fueling his reelection in 2020.
And I found the origin of all this ***, back during Clinton's time a court ordered that children couldn't be kept in jail for longer then 20 days. Because the time to process and hold an immigration hearing is measured in months, it's not possible for children to legally say with their parents until the judges decision is made final. The decision centered around the conditions of a jail being not fitting for children, the same reason we don't house 12 year old juvenile offenders inside a prison. ICE detention centers, aka immigration jails, don't have the appropriate facilities to hold children and so they sent to a place that does have the appropriate facilities.
The real solution here is for family holding facilities to be made available. And as much as I hate spending resources that way, it's really the only humane option. The era of open borders free immigration for all is over with.

Honestly the children's' facility just looked like a big school with walls. My understanding is that it's staffed primarily with child care workers and few security personal. It still sucks for them to be separated cause that's a traumatic event all by itself, but the facilities are far from being "concentration camps". That's just Chanti trying to pick a fight.

There are way worse things happening to countless numbers of exploited children who attempt to cross the border on a regular basis. I'll take some upset kids over the unconscious support of human trafficking (and worse) any day.
Well you obviously don't have kids. Taking little kids away from their parents for an hour would upset them. These kids have been locked up now for over a month? Not all of them are teens, they are 6 and 7 year olds, some of them are babies, separated from their families. That's way beyond your pathetic label of "upset." That's traumatizing, whats gonna happen to your failing damage control if one of these kids dies under the gov'ts watch?
I've got two, thanks. Which is why I wouldn't be a moron and try to subvert another nation's laws to gain asylum when there are clear points of entry designed for that kind of thing

You know Saevel, I searched "special detention center" and just couldn't find a definition. I did find examples, none were the current child concentration camps.

Like I said it's just Chanti trying to pick fights. She didn't even look at the video, which is from a very liberal poster of the insides of an ICE child care center, or whatever their calling it now.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0wABJ2DFYA
From NPR
https://www.npr.org/2018/06/19/621065383/what-we-know-family-separation-and-zero-tolerance-at-the-border
It's liberal but at least fair in presenting the details. Children are not held in "concentration camps" and most of the photos circulating the internet are ***, just like the "pacific garbage patch" ones.
Personally I love President Trumps approach, the issue is the laws on the books. President Obama chose to ignore those laws, President Trump said we must follow them and that if Democrats don't like it they can work with Republicans to get new ones passed.

Totally different tangent, just watched the double feature on Thermopylae by Extra History. The real battle was so much cooler then some Hollywood movie. The Spartans, while being paranoid ***, were ridiculously good at fighting.
