Random Politics & Religion #31: 2018 Edition
It has been a weak winter here so far in terms of snow, only a couple of storms never amounting to more than a few inches, and it has melted pretty quick.
Just for reference, US News and World Report...
When I was a kid it was Rockefeller republican, and through all my life solidly behind republican economic policies and US domination of worldwide resources. These last few years I had assumed it was never Trump but still on the conservative side. But with the language in this opinion piece, they seem about as lefty as the nation. And almost as foulmouthed as Wonkette. Its an allegation that somehow, the FISA warrant on Carter Page was "inappropriately" obtained. All of sudden, people care about Carter Page? I don't think so. We've got two narratives. 1) releasing the memo is reckless, and endangers national security. 2) releasing the memo is harmless because it's just fluff. They cannot both be right. That's how we know the memo is huge. Bahamut.Ravael said: » Zerowone said: » 2nd dossier? Lol memos... pass the courvoisier. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/jan/30/trump-russia-collusion-fbi-cody-shearer-memo Let's see.... Quote: The second memo was written by Cody Shearer, a controversial political activist and former journalist who was close to the Clinton White House in the 1990s. Unlike Steele, Shearer does not have a background in espionage, and his memo was initially viewed with scepticism, not least because he had shared it with select media organisations before the election. Well, that was fun. /yawn Buckle up liberals, this is going to be the biggest political scandal of your entire lives, and youre gonna own all of it. Chanti, I am really interested in Nancy Pelosi's unbiased opinion of his speech as well. Can you please share a link?
Trey Gowdy the latest Republican to be leaving Congress.

The crew of the truck all died on impact, no word on if any of the trash are injured, dead, or alive and well quite yet. Viciouss said: » Trey Gowdy the latest Republican to be leaving Congress. Ah man. With him and Darrel Issa leaving we’re never going to find out what happened to Ben Ghazi. What’s anazing about all of this to me is that liberals are usually trashing FISA and now they’re either ignoring or defending its use and conservatives are usually supportive of law enforcement and now they’re trashing them...
Trump even stated in his address the other night how he supports law enforcement and soldiers... is that only if they’re not investigating things related to him? Idk man... it doesn’t seem like anything really actually matters to anyone besides them feeling like their side is winning lol... The Plot Against America
Decades before he ran the Trump campaign, Paul Manafort’s pursuit of foreign cash and shady deals laid the groundwork for the corruption of Washington. The Atlantic This is either a really long article or a really short biography. TLDR: Manafort invented lobbying as we know it today. If you do business with him keep your hand on your wallet and wear armor on your back. So it turns out, Strzok is the FBI agent who drafted the letter Comey sent to Congress to reopen the Clinton investigation in October 2016. Also, turns out congress has his emails and are currently scratching their heads. Due to his professional behavior creating a complexity that does not fit the simplistic narrative some politicians are peddling.
Interesting.... cdn.cnn.com/cnn/2018/images/01/31/stzork.email.pdf Copy pasta into url. Should note that’s just one email chain among many regarding Strzok, Comey and McCabe. Seems like someone from the Senate committee is leaking.
Oh hey, now the house committee transcripts are coming out:

I read through most of that before nearly dying of boredom. What exactly is the juicy part? Well its interesting that Nunes and his aides got some classified intel together, wrote a memo about it, shared the memo with the committee, but didn't share the classified intel with the committee. The only two members (as of 2 days ago) other than Nunes that had read the classified intel were Gowdy and Schiff, I don't know how they got access to it, maybe they twisted Nunes' arm or something. Then, the committee voted to release the memo to the House, without even having read the documents it was based on, then the House voted to release it, and still no one has actually read the classified intel that Nunes based his memo on. That's an interesting "vetting" process. And you wonder why the Dems aren't worried about "owning" this "scandal." Right, im sure theres no consequences or anything for falsifying classified information.
Oh wait what about that Dossier? New spin is that by releasing he memo Trump could be further obstructing justice.
What planet are these people living on? Viciouss said: » Well its interesting that Nunes and his aides got some classified intel together, wrote a memo about it, shared the memo with the committee, but didn't share the classified intel with the committee.... |
