Keep the regen. Keep the aura. Fix Bumba so that real strategies have a chance, or at least release an in-depth explanation of how a real strategy can work atm. The issue isn't that WC roll is too harsh, it's that it's a necessity in the first place. Very few auras are a straight-up instant loss on any of the fights.

The issue with anything besides Bumba isn't that it's 'too hard' or 'too random' in 2026. It's that all 6 members need job variety, teamwork, and competence. Like it or not, having a need incentivizes folks to actually play the game as intended. If you have to try Ongo or Arebati a few times because you're not perfect and auras made them difficult, who cares.. anyone with a group that's adequately prepared will eventually get the win.

(bring on the tomatoes from folks who didn't even care enough to clear V20 and get R25 augs)

These days I do segments with my Sortie group and we are even going through the Vengeance climb now; working on V25 Atonement 2 at the moment.

I will make this observation. I’ve noticed a lot of people only, or mostly, play content with their sortie group now. Used to be we had LS-wide events as the end game content (18 players). So the reduction in pool size does limit those who have access to stuff. Also it’s become a bit more exclusive to ‘who you know’ rather than ‘anyone from my ls, whom does W3 Dyna anyway’.
This is what happens when the 90% of content for the last decade is "6 people only".

yeah, my LS is not exactly full of cutting-edge people but when we have a random "it's Omen night, show up and shoot the ***and maybe get a drop" we get 12-18 people showing up

having some meaningful alliance content - by which I mean more than Vagary and Omen - would go a long way to getting the less engaged players to at least engage a little. Dyna-D was a step in the right direction!

Well, when we have a group of people making a conscious effort to block out specific times to do Sortie, it just makes sense to maximize that time and do other stuff before/after. On off days or breaks, I'd say going pickup Segments/omen/delve/vagary/whatever isn't uncommon if people want to take point and start the groups.

One thing that we are running into with Oddyssey with our group now is that we all know and have our jobs for Sortie geared pretty well. But with the diversity of jobs needed for Odyssey strats, we are having to build out new jobs - I am starting to get back to BLM for the first time since 75 cap. Thats a pretty fun thing but would be infinitely more fun if we didnt have such limited inventory space

No "technically", it just is

You can either take 18 or you can't. Pass or fail. Yes or no. No technicalities.

I only said technically because while it is possible, people take their super high end sortie group to it and 1hr every support to get through it as fast as they can and screw everyone else that might want to tag along.

Come at me bro, what.

If your goal is to finish faster, its more beneficial to go with 18. You'll require less kills per person, provided the people are actual people and not bots all on the same target.

You wont get *** all for EP though.

Hot take: if they want to encourage groups to ally up, make fixed EP per kill by CL, similar to how Yorcia Skirmish gave everyone in the instance fixed exp per kill. I get the methodology isnt the same because YorcSkirm required fanning out and people getting out of exp range, but it would encourage alliances in Limbus.

And I already know the challenge to this: "RMT will just afk bot for EP in Limbus"

1-Make it fixed by CL so Cor roll doesnt enhance it.
2-Halve EP gain if the KI is obtained or all boxes have been picked up.

Actually this would only really apply on any server thats not locked down and there are mobs available on every given floor at any given time.

If you're on locked down server where I presume every floor is a day 10 FafHogg, good luck.

Not trying to deny what you said (I absolutely agree) but we can't ignore the fact that the Limbus scaling is particularly... awful.
It's good that they at least ALLOWED parties larger than 6 to be formed, but as it stands now it's quite atrocious.
I still prefer this scenario compared to the "can't go with more than 6" in the end.

In their defense... players always look for the easiest/fastest/mostefficient way to tackle content.
In this regard it's objectively difficult to allow for something (alliance) without making it the "best" option so that everybody will try to do that.
Eh...
Still, I'm sure they could've offered better compromises than the current one :-P

Except taking 18 would work fine and be just as fast at clearing if everyone pulled their weight, tackled one mob per 1-2 people and every party had some support.

Like a dyna w3 with full alliance.

But no one does that cause easier to take 6 super elites and power through it all. Which you can do with dyna w3 too.

In this case I don't blame the scaling. I blame the community.

It's an over exaggeration. Only floor that sees a small hiccup is Temenos Pixies, where you have to wait for repops on one single Grah in order to go up. One party has to wait 90 seconds. A second party probably is inconvenienced by 3 minutes tops. This is because everyone avoids white and black pixies, so the pool for that floor is limited.

Every other floor across both Limbus zones is fine. Even on Asura, you see at most 1-2 other group(s) doing Limbus on the same floor at the same time as you. Everyone equally hates Limbus the same, so there's not hordes of people bumping into each other.

Also at this point Odyssey should remove the SJ restriction
It's FFXI's most defining feature and it's completely locked out of this content

SJ restriction and forcing players to use up to 3 different jobs each is Odyssey Gaol's most defining feature...

I look at the suggestions here and most of them are unappealing. An expensive item from segments that alters or reduces auras might be the most palatable to me.

I can't help but think that people conquered all of Odyssey prior to some of the additional new quality gear we've received since. They rose to the challenge of executing well in the face of sometimes punishing RNG. They cleared it with lower MLs, somewhat weaker gears, and so many fewer opportunities to keep rolling at it until they finished it.

Good for them, all old content should (and has in the past), at some point, get paths to greater accessibility beyond "just outgear it to the point you don't need the rewards anymore"

And yet everyone is absolutely terrified of Pixies. You said it yourself that on Asura people run to the Ghrah's and compete for those.

In all the runs I've done in Temenos, there were never any other parties competing for Ghrahs. Your party just had to wait 90seconds for the single repop. I said at worst, that WOULD be the camp to see congestion for all of 2-3minutes, if there were any. They could just as easily kill a Pixie (or all of them), but risk vs reward w/e

If this is what players want, why does no one want to repeat any v25 fight after clearing it. No one other than Male that is.

Everyone I know that has clears has said "*** doing that again".

Seems to me players don't actually want what Odyssey v25 offers.

It's not what players want. It's what players need.

If SE gave players what they 'want', they'd have long since maxed out and quit.

That's a hypothetical. How many quit after their Odyssey statics, plural, imploded. I know more than a dozen.

If increasing subs is the goal, SE is definitely doing the right thing with Limbus grinds.

Easily automatable, 6box friendly, targeting a small number of whales with many accounts not individuals.

Is it what players need, I am not convinced.

The heavily 6 person static based gameplay works for a very small amount of people. Everyone else is SOL.

Let's put it another way. If you take out Odyssey, what's your reason for gearing a new job or maxing the ones you have? Once you can do Sortie at a reasonable level on one job, you have no reason to improve. Limbus has effectively zero progress requirements. Even for people who are not currently clearing V25, Odyssey is the carrot that gives you a reason to improve. There's nothing else unless you count master trials, and those appeal to a very narrow audience.

Whether or not you like it the way it is, it's clearly an intentional design decision. SE is adding a lot of bridge gear and some power creep which does make it easier. Hoxne Ampulla and prime weapons don't effect every fight equally, but they are a substantial indirect nerf.

Asura.Sensarity said: »

The issue isn't that RMT would sell it. It's that it would be easy and cheap to buy. RMT can sell it now and they can charge a whole lot more for it than they could with a higher player cap. Nobody (well, not many people) is crying about them being able to do so.

However, because of the high cost and uncertainty, it's not seen as the typical way to acquire the gear. Making it too easy to leech a clear turns leeching into a typical and viable path. That erodes willingness to entertain the challenge of grouping up and doing it yourself. The entire point of a MMO is to group with other humans and face challenges so you can overcome them together. When you create an alternative to doing so, people will take it en masse.

...The need to group up is exactly why people are willing to play bootleg lv75 servers. The staff stops 6boxers and mercs and the only way to clear content is with other people. That's a very substantial feature.

This is just not true. If you don't already have v25 clears, good ffing luck finding or making a group that does them.

That ship has long sailed.

Those that don't have clears either are content with v15/v20 and the odd v25 nyame clear, or are just not interested in the v25 grind.

I am sure SE has stats on v25 completion and I hope they publish them at some point. It will make for some grim reading.

All the talk about rmt ruining potential nerfs is complete BS. Rmt do not exist outside the big servers. And so what if they sell it. Rmt have existed since 2003 or so. Game still here.
