It's been a while since I've fought cloud of darkness. Is the amount of damage it absorbs between Primordial Surge and Expunge just pain sync? Or is it less than a 1 to 1 ratio?

If anything they are going to question why you like wasting the time of 5 other people. If the "challenge" is the reward, I assure you, there are a lot more difficult things you could do to "challenge" yourself and have fun in FFXI. If people didn't find MT clears entertaining to learn about / work towards, the 'OB - Cleared' thread wouldn't have gotten the traffic it did. Offline

Best I can remember it absorbs full dmg until the next tp move, so kind of like the ambuscade dullahan mechanic where you need to feed it tp. buttplug said: » That full dispel might be a problem on VD SMN Burn Maybe ranged attack Wasn't TP denial one of the strats for it? It's been a while but I seem to recall a BLU using several TP reset/reduction moves (e.g. Feather Tickle). I could be remembering wrong. Offline

The TP moves might even get adjusted
Have to wait an see they might switch something around Might be the screw your party TP move Instant KO for a few members But always down for a ranged attack fight Something like COR/GEO/PUP/RDM/RNG/WHM That would be kind of a fun setup Get PUP/RNG in the mix Lakshmi.Buukki

So I logged on and did a //findall to see if maybe Santa blessed me and nope. Nada. Quote: Best I can remember it absorbs full dmg until the next tp move, so kind of like the ambuscade dullahan mechanic where you need to feed it tp. Oh ABSORBS damage. Ok ok. I misinterpreted it. So he heals whenever you hit him. It doesn't throw the damage back at ya. gotchya. Assuming nothing changes, iirc it absorbs a type of damage either magic or physical and does not necessarily follow up with its damage reflection from absorption. It's like a phase and it shifts and only ends upon the use of its damage reflection. So likely not something you can just smash through or just burst through. Having flexibility on damage types I imagine will be important.
Also not sure if damage absorbed will be counted from stuff like Helix, so helix cheese may or may not be even possible. Edit: Nevermind, wiki seems to have it saying it uses expunge after surge. Offline

Hoping the drops will be good
An that the drop rate isn't insane There are players that come and go every day Also there are players with like 5+ other characters I don't get the it's to increase longevity thinking Ive said this befor
The selbina drop rates were good. Low, but not catastrophic demoralizing low. The OGs giving 100% drop on D/VD as well as a second slot was a bit much (Selb should still have a 100% VD slot imo) Wyrm god is just *** stupid low. It shouldnt take 500 VD kills to get the item you want. Offline

I will be genuinely shocked if we get anything on par with Malignance or Crep. gear. I weirdly expect an ilvl tessera saio.
They're not going to do Iroha gear and soil 14s pretty stuff. So they'll go with the gear your evil twin wears. Based on what's missing from the last 5 HTMB An Axe and/or GA and nuke type stuff. No real magic damage armors from odin alex shinryu lilly or cait. And healing belt. Offline

WSD cape is a good idea
Would give it similar stats to ambu capes It would clear up space for sure Already got that from alex, not even remotely going to happen.
A WSD belt maybe. Offline

They could also just let us put every option on ambu capes
That would be wild and would only need to make 1 per job Offline

Hot take:
Need more gear like Sroda line of gear or Orpheus's Sash, IMO. "Pet Alive", "Magic Crit II", "Distance correlates to elemental affinity" - Those items are situationally good with stats not on anything else in the game. Kind of interesting ways you can apply them, but they stopped short of making them completely broken. I strongly dislike that they made very cool stats on Bonanza weapons (Barehanded bow stats is kind of wild), but since they showed they CAN do interesting stats on lottery gear, I'd like them to continue that trend with this, hopefully. FC/WSD/MAB/DT/ATT/ACC etc are a dime a dozen, I can make virtually any set I want with what we already have. Pay that intern a Christmas bonus so they can come up with a "Blue Magic Effect Duration +%" earring. :D Offline

I generally like Sroda stuff, but am not a fan of negative stats on gear. That's some Tanaka-era type ***. Don't need stat vomit on every single piece but just keep the interesting stats and leave the penalties off.

I also dislike negative stats on gear, i try to avoid using most of that in my sets unless it's something I can compensate for (like Dedition Earring). With that said, I don't recall any HTBF gear having negative stats on it. I only used Sroda as an example of cool stats, but it's auctionable gear with risk-reward traits. I was pointing out the situational use of unique stats vs the common stats we expect to see on things.
I thought Malignance was a great example of a set that was masterfully done, to give a better example. PDL on a set that had zero attack, but had superb stats otherwise; the PDL was only situationally useful for the light-class jobs who are devoid of PDL traits elsewhere, but only could be used in high attack situations, which are rare instances for those kinds of jobs. And the Lilith HTBF was engaging enough that it was worth doing the D/VD Spitewarden method to get that gear faster. Offline

Don't even care if they make it obnoxious to get. Gorpa wants 10 mil before he'll even talk to you about them? Fine. Costs 250k gallantry, three fully augmented capes, and a random specific pulse item? Sure. 10x or 20x the items to upgrade each category? Done. They wouldn't replace every cape for every job, because sometimes the job-specific part on the base cape is important, but it would seriously cut down on the clutter. |
