And funny thing about that Seattle Minimum wage.
It is going straight into landlords' pockets.
Seattle is experiencing the highest increase in rents in the nation. No idea if that's raw $ or %, but I would be willing to bet its both.
Didn't I mention just this when it was on the ballot and we were talking about it here? Duh.
Didn't you know that is part of inflation?
You honestly think that these people aren't screwing themselves over by demanding higher wages?
Well, guess what? That $1k rent you were paying before? It's now $2.5k.
That $150 grocery bill? $275 now.
That $75 auto insurance bill? $150 now.
But hey, you can afford it, you just doubled your wages, right???

Well no ***, housing cost is one of the if not the largest part of cost of living. Housing costs is based on free market, if there is an increase in the income of people in that area then the prices go up accordingly. The prices only come down when there is a surplus of inventory, which is never the case in large metropolitan areas.

Rent has been increasing since before the wage hike.

It's in the abstract you quoted yourself lol Ladies and Gentlemen, this is referred to as the "Cherrypicking Fallacy"
"The study shows that, in aggregate, wages fall by $125/month in total, but if you look at this one small comparison, you will see that wages for restaurants remain flat for this one specific time period, therefor your entire argument is moot!" -Pleebo, Reality Denier #2, June 27, 2017

Rent has been increasing since before the wage hike. At what rate? Was it as a small rate before the rate hike? Has it increased proportionally during the hike? Or at a greater scale?
Or will you ignore these questions as answering them will prove our point?

Nothing in the abstract implies the increases were evaluated in aggregate, rather separately. In your original link, the first increase had a minimal impact and the second had a negative effect. Both increases were looked at in terms context of multiple industries, not just food service.
Once again, please read your own links.

In your original link, the first increase had a minimal impact and the second had a negative effect. You are talking about 2 different studies, one of which (first one) didn't even bother to cover the entire local economy, just one industry.
I would have thought that would have gone through your head, but you are so focused at cherrypicking arguments that you literally can't see the *** from the forest.
BTW, that smell you smell, you should probably look down.
Both increases were looked at in terms context of multiple industries, not just food service. Only in the second study, the one that found that average wages decreased by an average of $125/month. The one you are cherrypicking your arguments from.
Once again, please read your own links. I have, and obviously you haven't, or just refuse what the studies actually state.
Also, don't forget, the second study has more weight because, unlike you, it doesn't cherrypick arguments, and look at the entire picture.

...........
The study Chanti referred to was a different group out of Berkeley. As far as I can tell since I can't read the second study from the Washington group, they evaluated both increases similarly looking at the labor economy as a whole. Minimal impact at $11 and some negative at $15. $11 still remains more than $7.25.

I don't frankly care what any state wants to do with minimum wage. If they want to experiment with their own economy and take on the risk, so be it. It's only the idiots who want drastic increases in the federal minimum wage that set me off.

I agree. Domestic economics is solidly in the realm of states rights. The US Government has stretched the commerce clause so thin it's practically saran wrap.
A "living wage" isn't real, it's a concept rooted in socialist / communist philosophy. The actual cost of living swings dramatically based on location and more importantly family size. I discovered this first hand when moving to Northern VA. I went from having to support just myself to supporting both of us (she can't work yet due to immigration process) which was a huge hit to my wallet. Rent is 2K USD per month followed by higher food and utility costs, the only benefit was that auto insurance is cheaper here. My disposable income went down even though I'm working a six figure job.
The reason for the higher costs? All the professional tech workers in this region causing prices to balloon. Direct evidence that when you increase the amount of money in an area you also increase the cost of living accordingly.

It's only the idiots who want drastic increases in the federal minimum wage that set me off. We already have evidence (inb4 Pleebo stating that studies aren't evidence) stating that, even at the local level, a dramatic increase in wages hurt the workers more than any business has done in the past 3 decades, and that's including Enron!
And these same people want to force the national minimum wage in even greater increases than the local social experiment level (remember, Seattle's minimum wage, unlike what Pleebo is asserting, was not $7.25, but $9.47).

The worst part is the suddenness of the change, natural buffers can accept the disruption from gradual change in economies but massive change will overwhelm those buffers and result in massive disruption and the economy will be unstable until it's had time to absorb the change fully. Most complex interconnected systems follow this pattern.

No. More money is bad. And now you're just being greedy and evil always wanting more all the time.
We need to lower our minimum wage back to $3 because our wages are already too high compared to the rest of the world and it's not fair to them.
In order to achieve our dream of equality we're all going to have to do with just a little bit less... oh and clean up on isles three when you get a chance /back pat /goes to the opulent rooftop terrace /lights a cigar with a $100 bill

Isn't it better to be employed at $3/hour than it is to be unemployed at $0/hour?

Trump on Twitter said: The #AmazonWashingtonPost, sometimes referred to as the guardian of Amazon not paying internet taxes (which they should) is facts I don't like!
What is he even talking about?
no clue...
but nobody has ever accused him of making sense before...so it's more puzzling to me why some people think he's all the sudden going to start...

Everyone is so stunned by Trump's latest twitter shitfest, both libs and conservatives, that nothing happened.
All was right in the world. Dogs and cats got together and are forming their master plan to take over the world using dog crap, mouse traps, and Teflon.
If you own a pet, better treat them right. They may end up being the masters soon~

Trump election panel asks all 50 states for voter roll data
The Hill, leans left
Quote: The vice chairman of President Trump’s commission on election integrity sent a letter to all 50 states Wednesday requesting information on their voter rolls.
Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach is seeking several pieces of information about voters, including their names, birthdays, the last four digits of their Social Security numbers and their voting history dating back to 2006.
The letter, sent to the secretaries of state of all 50 states and obtained by The Hill, directs states to turn over “publicly-available voter roll data including, if publicly available under the laws of your state, the full first and last names of all registrants, middle names or initials if available, addresses, dates of birth, political party (if recorded in your state), last four digits of social security number if available, [and] voter history from 2006 onward.”
Kobach’s letter asks states to respond to a list of questions about voting in their states, inquiring about “law, policies or other issues hinder your ability to ensure the integrity of elections you administer.” He also asks for information about “convictions for election -related crimes” since the November 2000 presidential election.
The letter also stipulates that documents submitted to the commission “will also be made available to the public.” States were given a deadline of July 14 to submit the info to the commission.
Jason Kander, the head the Democratic National Committee’s Commission on Protecting American Democracy from the Trump Administration, blasted the letter in a statement, calling it “very concerning.”
"It's obviously very concerning when the federal government is attempting to get the name, address, birth date, political party and Social Security number of every voter in the country,” Kander said. “ I certainly don't trust the Trump Administration with that information, and people across the country should be outraged."
Connecticut said it will comply with the commission's request "in the spirit of transparency," but its secretary of state, Denise Merrill, also issued a challenge to Kobach.
"In the same spirit of transparency, we will request that the Commission share any memos, meeting minutes or additional information as state officials have not been told precisely what the Commission is looking for," Merrill wrote.
"This lack of openness is all the more concerning, considering that the Vice Chair of the Commission, Kris Kobach, has a lengthy record of illegally disenfranchising eligible voters in Kansas."
Vice President Pence announced Wednesday that the election integrity commission would meet for the first time in July. Pence, who is chairing the commission, told its members that the group’s focus will be to “protect and preserve the principle of one person, one vote.”
Trump signed an executive order in May establishing the commission, stating that the purpose of the group is to “promote fair and honest federal elections.”
Kobach and Trump have both made unsubstantiated claims that large numbers of undocumented immigrants vote in U.S. elections.
In January, Kobach told Fox Business that “it will be impossible to ever know what the exact number is of non-citizens voting. I think it probably was [millions]."
"If you take the whole country, I think it is probably in excess of a million, if you take the entire country for sure," Kobach said at the time.
Trump, meanwhile, has said he would have won the popular vote in November had it not been for fraud.
"In addition to winning the Electoral College in a landslide, I won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally," Trump wrote on Twitter in November.
