Thanks Nicky, sorry Nasuai, thought you meant the bust that Nicky linked.
I linked the WaPo story on it on P 21. I don't think that Assad was behind the recent attack.
It makes little-to-no sense, tactical or otherwise, to escalate a conflict you are already winning quite handsomely. The rebels on the other hand have a track record of using chemical weapons and attempting to blame it on Assad to provoke an international response. They tried this under the Obama administration but were busted when Russia intervened and prompted the United Nations to investigate. The result of this investigation was that the rebels had used chemical weapons, not Assad. People can't have this short-term a memory surely? Spicer: 'Hitler didn't even sink to using chemical weapons'
Fox said: Syrian President Bashar Assad's chemical weapons use last week is particularly egregious because Adolf Hitler didn't use chemical weapons in World War II, White House press secretary Sean Spicer inaccurately claimed on Tuesday. "You had someone as despicable as Hitler who didn't even sink to using chemical weapons," Spicer said in response to questions about the implications of Assad's chemical attacks. Hitler used a chemical called Zyklon B to murder prisoners in Nazi concentration camps in World War II. In an attempt to clarify his statement, The Hill said: Many, including a journalist in the press briefing, were quick to point out that Hitler used gas chambers to kill millions of Jewish people during the Holocaust. Spicer attempted to walk back his statement. “When it comes to sarin gas, [Hitler] was not using the gas on his own people the same way that Assad is doing,” Spicer said. “I understand your point. Thank you. I appreciate that. He brought them into the Holocaust centers, I understand that. I was saying in the way that Assad used them where he went into town, dropped them into the middle of town. I appreciate the clarification. That was not the intent.” His reference to concentration camps as "Holocaust centers" drew immediate attention and criticism on social media. ![]() Happy Passover! Wow, around Passover as well.
That's going to be one hell of a PR fire. Two articles on the INT, the reasons, and the rational for assigning the blame to Assad. Both today.

What did Spicey do now?
Viciouss said: » What did Spicey do now? He corrected himself 4 times. The first three tries only got the foot in deeper. The 4th hasn't removed it. Read up a bit. Yeah, I knew I could expect people to make a far bigger deal of Spicer's comments than they're actually worth, because Republicans something something.
That being said.... This, boys and girls, is why you don't pull a Godwin. Ever. Just don't. YouTube Video Placeholder I'm just waiting for a dictator to kill more people than Hitler so Hitler can rest in peace...
Jews outraged though is a novel concept WW2 ended 70 years ago and you act like that ***happened yesterday...
We have needed a new press secretary for a while now. This bad week should just hasten his departure.
fonewear said: » Jews outraged though is a novel concept WW2 ended 70 years ago and you act like that ***happened yesterday... The key phrase to the Passover celebration: "When I came out of Egypt." WWII? Mere moments ago in our collective memories. P. S. I won't say this administration is full of Jew hating holocaust deniers, but you know when it walks like a duck, smells like a duck, and quacks holocaust denialism.... |
