So the press is less interested. But as its claimed that he ran the biggest botnet ever, there is still interest. Any site / journal dealing with computer security is still following it.
But when the Spanish police arrested him there was talk of election interference both to him and his GF? wife? So it could flare up again on that front.

I don't think that Assad was behind the recent attack.
It makes little-to-no sense, tactical or otherwise, to escalate a conflict you are already winning quite handsomely. The rebels on the other hand have a track record of using chemical weapons and attempting to blame it on Assad to provoke an international response. They tried this under the Obama administration but were busted when Russia intervened and prompted the United Nations to investigate. The result of this investigation was that the rebels had used chemical weapons, not Assad.
People can't have this short-term a memory surely?
