My sister once swerved to miss a possum (or an opossum, depending on where you live) and ended up in a ditch with a totaled car. Suffice it to say that she's less concerned with creating roadkill than she is with becoming roadkill nowadays.

Back when my mother was still alive, she told me about a time she swerved to not hit a Great Dane (she was driving a Camaro or some other tiny car at the time). Hit the ditch hard, and the Great Dane just walked away.

Sometimes you just got to swerve.

Right-o. Some things are just too big to hit.

You aren't making sense Zahrah.

I'm talking about driving down the highway at 100 and just moving a driving line a few inches to avoid killing a snake crossing is all. So it might go harmlessly under the car etc

Why does the breed matter to you?
And your reply just dismissively insulting Canadians did not provide insight.

So, basically, you didn't read, because KN and I were jiving on the satisfaction of country road driving.

Jeez, Josi, what crawled up your butt today?
what are you referring to with the bolded? was there a discussion about like ~12 foot long snakes I missed prior to our talking about this today? Because Nik gave some insight after the fact.

And the answer to italic is nothing. "gosh how uncouth" was only jokingly offended, not serious genuine offence. I even rated you up like you rated me up when we mentioned it.

we get a shitload of snakes close by but nothing cold-blooded that large can handle the winter this far north.

Yisss gimme selfdriving cars!

Or just one for me is fine really if no one else wants.

I like driving, but I still think within our lifetimes we'll see driverless cars take the majority of driving duties out of the hands of people. Driving will become like driving stick now; an archaic function of leisure, not necessity.

Boo! Here's to volume up and backroad/dirtroad adventuring to clear the mind.
*** yeah!

West Texas, around Big Bend, is the best. You can kill lots of Tarantulas while relaxing to whatever beats you listen to.

Not that you mention some wildlife, that is some of the appeal! Deer, rabbits, turtles (during turtle "get-down" season), the occasional roadrunner. When the air starts getting a bit crisp and cold or at dusk or dawn it becomes the most strangely, holistically rejuvenating sensation.

Granted, not everyone is going to have the pockets in between urban/suburban sprawl that we have. That *** so good, though! Ready for fall/winter.

You jumped in over snakes, and it seems my three-year-old has a better grasp and realistic awareness of the potential danger that certain species of snakes and bugs in this area. It's not a slight at you, but you make zero sense from this end and it's only circumstantial, given the region.

You're killing me here, dude.

This is surprising. A simple conversation of

Zahrah>> Well, if there's a snake in the road, I don't care.
Josiah>> Do you at least avoid them if you see them slithering across?
Zahrah>> No, they are usually too big where I live, to avoid when driving.

Turned into all of this miscommunication. I probably shouldn't have given you the joking tone initially it seems; I won't make that mistake again no worries.

No problem. I was trying to point out to you that it was a matter of miscommunication and/or what you're acclimated to. I thought you were legitimately angry. So, of course, my reaction was "What? Why?".

Josi, I forget. Does Canada have any poisonous snakes?

'cause I do. And mine aren't NEAR as venomous as those in TX. Or as numerous. Or as many species. And they only run them over so they won't waste a bullet.

Oh yeah, I have poisonous spiders too....

Not going to happen under my administration, not a single penny of American tax payer money will be sent overseas Until we fix the mess that is in our 50 States we need to clean and improve our home. The Democrat and Republican political party organizations have done a amazing job of neglecting the needs and wants of the American people and have become selfish thinking only of themselves and doing only what they want to do overseas while allowing our nation to become outdated and crumb around us. No more, enough is enough.

After Trumps 4 years in presidency the path forward beyond 2020 in a new election will hail a new golden age of America. History will read that the Constitutional Republic of the united states of america will be restored and that the people of this great nation will have retained complete control over their government taking back there liberties and freedoms from these treasonous political parties.

Oh, *** it! This was fun.

Caddo Lake/Toledo Bend:

Take a gander at the Spanish moss draping from these centuries-old cypresses! Beautiful, aren't they? Have you ever had a stress dream about alligators rolling you until drown and stuffing your corpse into a cypress for snackums? Sweet dreams!

And if you'll look to the left you'll get a good dose of the moccasin orgy that you only thought 'Lonesome Dove' could provide!

Guadalupe/Comal:

1,000 drunken, college kids per day can't be wrong, and that warm spot is exactly what you think it is. I found a crawfish, though! This is definitely going into some poor soul's hair.

Possum Kingdom/Lake Whitney:

Sorry, buddy. There's only one way down and you passed the point of no return. Nut up or prepare to get pushed off a cliff.

South Padre:

You know what time it is!

Anywhere on the coast:

Don't throw crab traps from a jetty you'll put someone's eye out slip and slice yourself on some barnacles!

Trail rides anywhere in Central to East Texas:

You know what you should do? Always approach a horse from the rear! They love that! Make sure you're really quiet until you're about two feet in front of it. (Compliments of another thread that was on here recently.)

Like I said, I would be awesome at this!

If anyone ever comes across a wolf in the wild, best thing to do is maintain eye contact and make sudden couching movements.

It's how they say hello.

See, there it is! People should take note. Coyotes and foxes have this ingrained in them, also. Give a smiling, eye-to-eye howdy-doo to your local cuddlies whenever you happen upon them!

Seizure seizure

Reminds me of former House Speaker Republican John Boehner who kept crying out in public interviews because he knew he was betraying my nation and it's people while looking for sympathy. He along with the other traitors will receive no sympathy from American justice.

Here's the thing about your deluded, fantastical idea of becoming president, do you think, realistically (even though this is a niche site), some people aren't going to connect the dots, given your cockamamie beliefs and your tenuous grasp of the English language that you have unabashedly vomited on here that you will honestly be taken seriously as a candidate?

I don't even know why I'm entertaining this, but I can't be the only person here that thinks it.
