Any man or woman who blows up their own country to remain in power is a good million light years away from being "good" for their people. I don't even know if there are any Syrian people left in Syria at this point. Millions of syrian refugees... M I L L I O N S, because 1 man wants to stay in power... lol.. its ridiculous.
The best part is, the Syrian revolution wasn't a revolution to start with! it started with people asking for reforms. What did Asad's government do? The only thing it knows how to do. It kidnapped and tortured/executed the leaders, raped their families, and made damn sure the rest of the population knew about it. They gravely misjudged the Syrian people, as did the entire world. What kind of *** do you have to be to insist on ruling a people, who don't want you to rule them. And then killing the same people you want to rule. We have a joke in Arabic, its common to hear it across the arab world. The minister of interior tells the president "sir, the people are revolting and want you to leave power". The president responds "Why haven't you replaced the people then?" Ragnarok.Nausi said: » What is the origin of that phrase "Raped ape", which I've often heard smashed together into "rape date". "Took off like a raped ape." "Made out like a raped ape." Didn't make sense in either context. It may date back to WWII. Just did a search for the origin. It seems that I know exactly as much as the entire internet on this subject. /blink wow... Blazed1979 said: » We have a joke in Arabic, its common to hear it across the arab world. "Obama (to Mubarak): 'write a farewell letter to your people' Mubarak: 'Why? Where are they leaving for?!'" Everybody likes that Egyptians sense of humor: "Come back, Mr. President! It was all a joke! Candid camera" "In hieroglyphs...so you might understand, Pharaoh!" "Leave already, my shoulder hurts" Self-explanatory. Mubarak failed at every "subject" (all being ministerial entities). Offline

Update on the Kabul bombing
Quote: "I saw tens of people laying down in blood around me and hundreds of people running away from the scene," said Fatima Faizi, an Afghan freelance journalist. So far, 80 bodies and more than 260 wounded people were taken to hospitals in Kabul, according to Ismail Kawoosi, a spokesman for the Afghan Health Ministry. Two ISIS fighters detonated their suicide belts among the protesters, according to ISIS' media wing, Amaq. A third attacker was killed by security forces before detonating his bomb, according to an Afghan security official speaking on condition of anonymity. The protesters were demanding a planned power line be rerouted through their poverty-stricken Bamyan province to ensure electricity in the relatively isolated area west of Kabul. Accounting for up to one-fifth of Afghanistan's population, Hazaras, a Persian-speaking people who mainly live in central Afghanistan, have long been branded outsiders for their Shia faith and far Asian features in the country dominated by followers of the Sunni branch of Islam, according to a 2008 National Georgraphic article. The Hazara in the past have demanded the government protect them from attacks blamed on the Sunni Taliban and ISIS. The 21-year-old man has been arrested and was apparently acting alone, police said, adding the motive for the attack is not clear. Footage from the scene shows a man running away before cutting to him lying on the ground, his face bloodied and his hands cuffed by police. Police have also told Sky News there is no evidence pointing to the incident, which happened outside a bus station, being a terrorist attack. Spokesman Bjoern Reusch said in a statement that witnesses said the man, who was known to police, was having an argument with the woman before attacking her about 4.30pm local time. The man was hit by a BMW, which ended the attack. The driver's brother has told Sky News he did it deliberately and has been released from hospital after suffering minor injuries. The woman worked at a kebab stand near where confrontation took place, the Bild newspaper reported. A police spokesman said he could not confirm a story in the newspaper that the dead woman was pregnant. A colleague who worked with the 21-year-old said the man and woman worked together at a restaurant before and that he was a "nice guy who came from Syria 6 months ago" and had "fallen in love with the woman". How is that again As a mod, I'm not sure if I should find that as funny as I do.
...and yes, Fone, we have mods. Candlejack said: » Yes, Assad could... COULD... be removed by force of arms. Asura.Kingnobody said: » Strange, 7 years ago the liberals/democrats had a supermajority in Congress. Quote: President Obama was sworn in on January 20, 2009 with just 58 Senators to support his agenda. He should have had 59, but Republicans contested Al Franken's election in Minnesota and he didn't get seated for seven months. The President's cause was helped in April when Pennsylvania's Republican Senator Arlen Specter switched parties. That gave the President 59 votes -- still a vote shy of the super majority. But one month later, Democratic Senator Byrd of West Virginia was hospitalized and was basically out of commission. So while the President's number on paper was 59 Senators -- he was really working with just 58 Senators. Then in July, Minnesota Senator Al Franken was finally sworn in, giving President Obama the magic 60 -- but only in theory, because Senator Byrd was still out. In August, Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts died and the number went back down to 59 again until Paul Kirk temporarily filled Kennedy's seat in September. Any pretense of a supermajority ended on February 4, 2010 when Republican Scott Brown was sworn into the seat Senator Kennedy once held.Do you see a two-year supermajority? Offline
