But I WANT jury duty. I have been a registered voter since I could register and I never got called until last year. Superior court. I planed what to wear and what to bring to read. It was a "call this number for instructions" thing. I called, there were NO INSTRUCTIONS. No superior court while I was in the pool. DARNIT.

Nonsense. Trump had them all locked in solid from his first speech. You know the Mexican rapists one.

OK, Trump may have alienated a few gays with that pick, but I still don't see any broadening of his appeal with it.

An old best friend's slacker* son got called twice in 4 years. The second time to a grand jury. I am SO jealous.

It looks like Clinton's pick isn't getting a lot of love, either, even from the left-leaning media. I saw some comments about Kaine being "boring", about how he is centrist and unlikely to motivate the more liberal base, and how he is anti-abortion (in belief, not in law).

That's nuts! I get jury summons too frequently ever since college when I had a legitimate excuse since I was three hours away from my county. My husband (along with a few friends) never gets them, and it drives me up the wall. His mother gets them frequently, also, and just missed the deadline to defer her last one before her seventieth birthday.

I don't know how in the hell they determine who's up for grabs, but it seems like all or nothing with some people. How do they not distribute equitably?

Tim Kaine is a safe pick, Clinton didn't need a big mover as a running mate like Trump did (and failed to get). He is a straight down the middle centrist, a Catholic, speaks fluent Spanish. He locks up purple Virginia for Clinton and could help in swing states.

You mean besides Kaine doesn't really bring anything to Clinton, and actually doesn't do what he really needs to do (which is to help get bad press away from Clinton, which is what she really needs).

She should have picked Sanders, at least then she would have gotten his voters on board. All she did was alienate more liberals who don't like her, and not really distract the swing voters from her main issues, which is the multitude of character defaults she has.

But then again, she could have done worse (McCain/Palin anyone?).

Also doesn't help how close minded you are being. If I didn't know better, I would have thought that you are following the liberal mantra, which is anyone who believes in your way of thinking is an ally and a friend, and anyone who slightly disagrees with you is an enemy. It almost sounds like you are going full LG and want to arrest any Republicans out there for the crime of being Republican.

She was never going to pick Bernie Sanders. Ever. He is going to bring his voters to her without being on the ticket, because he isn't Ted Cruz.
Kaine brings Virginia. He could bring North Carolina. If thats all he does, then he did his job. He helps bring demographics she is weak in, white men, evangelicals, independents. She is running away with Hispanics and African-Americans so his appeal to them is just a bonus. Evangelicals have basically been left out in the cold by the top of the ticket this election (no sympathy for them at all) so I'm sure they will be happy to see a sensible Catholic on the ticket.

I'm sure Hispanics are thrilled that she passed up actual Latinos to get a Spanish-speaking white guy. Virginia may be a lock, but that isn't her biggest swing-state problem. Moreover, Hillary's charisma problem is not solved by picking the least charismatic person of all the candidates she was vetting. Oh well, I'll give him a couple weeks before I judge too harshly.

Realistically, yes. But considering the aura of contempt during their debates in the later stages, do you think she would have offered? Do you think he would have accepted, given his principles?

Take off those glasses man, you can't see reality for what it is.

By endorcing Clinton, he already alienated his voters for being the sellout that he is. AT the very least, he could have recovered some of them by being the VP pick. But he will always be considered a shill.

Trump already gave her Hispanics and African Americans already, due to his stupidity. But then again, she isn't so popular with either group anyway. But they generally vote democrat, so it's not like they are going to vote Republican just because.

He really doesn't bring independents, he doesn't resonate with them that much. Trump brings more independents because of his "outside the political circle" mentality he has. Kaine just doesn't do it for the liberals/democrats.

What really hurt them, by picking Kaine, is that he is considered not liberal enough. For a party that promotes divide, he certainly doesn't bring it to the party.

Like I said, Sanders would have been a better pick.

He already endorsed her, so it's already obvious he doesn't give a ***about his principles. Way I see it, he doesn't have a chance at becoming president-elect, so his only chance at the history books is being VP. Could even consider assassination-proofing Clinton like Obama did, because nobody in their right mind would want Sanders as president, just like nobody in their right mind would want Biden as president.

Politicians don't have principles. I thought this election cycle would have proven that at the very least, if not other election cycles (Bush v. Gore is another prime example of candidates without principles).

Sanders is going to get up on that Philly stage and bring his voters to her side. He saw how Ted Cruz embarrassed himself and potentially ended his own political career in Cleveland. He was never in the running for VP. She doesn't need him. Just like she doesn't need Warren, she already has both of them on her side without the baggage of them being on the ticket. Sanders is a socialist. He might have done very well in the primaries but being a socialist is a huge liability.

Clinton is incredibly popular with Hispanics and African Americans, she is polling in the 90 percentile according to all of the polls including Fox News. She didn't need a guy like Julian Castro.

Arguing about who brings independents better is a waste of time because they are still enormously on the fence. The general consensus for the undecideds after Trumps speech was he talked for 75 minutes but didn't get specific about anything. He hasn't won them over because he doesn't offer any solutions.

The democrat party does not promote divide, thats pretty laughable unless you think the GOP is the biggest promoter of division. Do I really need to mention Senator Cruz again? Or Mitch McConnell, who got booed off the stage? Or Paul Ryan, who has done nothing but divide his own House?

We're both aware of the endorsement, but before he folded he had a one-on-one with Obama before he called it quits.

I saw you mentioned wanting a bird's-eye-view of the DNC in SA. I voted Republican in the primary to combat Cruz. You know that the DNC is closed, right? I will say that I'm not too pleased with the celeb roll-out they have lined up. That's kind of a slap to the face to people like Tulsi Gabbard who stood by her principles in defiance of Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

This election has been disgusting on so many levels.
