Their point is spanking does equal abuse. Hell some kids need a swift back hand upside the face the way they run their mouths at times.

As social beings we all have a pack mentality we fight to be swayed by or we are susceptible to. And we can argue with people we find antagonizing and have a bias against or try to overcome that urge and argue freely, it's all up to the individual.
While what you say may have some merit. It doesn't really have any bearing here. Nobody is ever swayed, we all seem to argue freely, and the pack mentality is a secondary element.

while i do respect your opinion i know myself better than anyone else ever could i am flat out telling you without a so-called chin check every so often i literally would have been uncontrollable i m very much a sociopath not the loose meaning i mean the strict meaning
also im not saying spanking kids works for every kid but it is the only thing that works on some kids had i been given timeouts or been grounded i would have used that time to decide how i was gonna kill these weak *** parents of mine (maybe not to that extreme) but i would have put that alone time to use as that is the type of person i am

My point was, TL;DR
The are a very small minority of kids who need a literal firm hand and a majority of that small number never actually get it and they grow up into psychos because they were never taught empathy the only way it can be taught to that select few (As Anji suggests).
The vast majority of kids who receive corporal punishment/spanking/whatever you want to call it...get it far too much. Certainly disproportionate to what was called for based on their actions. And it negatively impacts them (literally and figuratively).
