Got Hacked Thread

I was just recently hacked, had everything of in-game value to my main character stolen. More than 15 mil in equip and gil taken but the reason I'm here is to deliver my story, which turns out pretty well lol.

I was hacked on Jan. 18, 2010, all of which I was running to do my COR AF2 quest, immediatly I was disconnected, though quickly trying to "Re-connect" I was always given the error message, "You are currently logged on from another Terminal".

After recieving such a message, I quickly logged onto my girlfriends account and had asked a GM to Lock my account, all of which was done in 30 minutes of being Hacked.

From that moment on I had to go through red-tape, contacting customer service to get a temp password, finding that in that 30 minutes they were able to dump my PCC, Hagun, KO, Amemet +1, Mezraq, Jupiter's, Aquilo's, other items of 100k+ value and all my gil.

So again I was forced to wait out customer service and request a "Game Data Recovery" but before doing so I was tempted to do some searching via FFXIAH.

Coincidentally all the items I listed, sans a few, were all sold by 1 /anon person on the ah. And I took that as more than just mere coincidence so I reported him via SE's STF page for suspicious RMT actions. and since I had reported him, he is no longer afk selling his stuff in Rolanberry fields.

I am still in the process of getting a Game Data Recovery done but I am a little bit glad that my assumption may have atleast stop this person (company?) from wrongfully hacking someone else anytime soon on the server of Asura.

Sad story, semi-happy ending, I hope anyone else who was hacked was fortunate enought to slueth FFXIAH and was able to get some "retribution" if I must say, and though some may think what I did was presumptuous, my actions may have been able to "Catch" a RMT thread that SE has been looking for...

Well, I'm in the bandwagon of people who got hacked.. Long-story-short; Was just on yesterday around 7PMEST, Constantly was being DC'd. Didn't get the "Logged in from another consule/etc." junk.. was able to log on every time I got DC'd without problems. Eventually just logged off due to work. Next day I went to log on around the same time, just to find out my PW was changed.

I've had to deal with the idiots @ lolSE for almost a year with my other account due to some other reasons(The HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE bannings LOLSE did for no apparent reason..) not looking forward to doing it again.. I am pissed for the simple fact as most; I've spent YEARS on this game getting what I had, just so some moron can make a few RL bucks..

Of course on contacting via MORONS @ SE, I got the usual *** they give. You've all heard what they say most likely, so not going to even explain it. So, if anyone has any suggestions on how to get these idiots to just freeze my account and roll-it-back, that would be freaking awesome. My attempts at saying anything to them goes through one ear out the other.. and ***tl;dr (My bad, this WAS a long-ish story..)

Oh ***.. if this is true, might be my problem on the PW change..

I play on a mac book pro and use my second mac laptop for wiki etc as needed.
The PC side of that mac book pro has never touched internet so at least that's a touch more security for me.

Being logged into the game wont stop u from logging in from a different system. (Unless its been changed in the last year or so) I left my character logged in while i was at work and my g/f logged me in on her pc at her place cuz she needed a raise.

Just as a small addition to ways of preventing hackers, the POL viewer has another security feature where you can encrypt your password, place the decrypter code (a txt file) onto another source (Like a flash drive), and then you can't log in without that.

Combine this with the token, and it will be extremely hard for anyone to hack you.

This started happening me today. I keep getting kicked within a couple minutes of logging in. Changed my password and I haven't had any issues.... yet.

I recently had my account recovered (after 2 months). I was wondering if anyone else had a similar address and telephone number replace their own under the membership information. Mine was changed out for what I found out to be LV Chinese Seafood restaurant in Long Beach, CA. The telephone number and address both googled to this location. 562-938-8088, 4139 Norse Way, Long Beach, CA, 90802. My account was hacked on 1/22. So if anyone else hacked around this time came up with similar information? Or perhaps if your account was recently hacked try using this information as the verification information to SE and maybe you can get your account back sooner that 2 months. Thanks.

Sorry for going slightly off topic but I read a few pages back that certain sites are not safe (ffxi-atlas was mentioned).

Curious if someone could point me in the direction of which ones are still ok and which are now unsafe?

I recently came back from a break so wondering what has changed. Used to use FFXI-ATLAS a lot.....guess I need to stop going there.

Also recently started on PC (used to be xbox) so curious about keeping my account as safe as possible.

somepage.com is hacked, FFXI-Atlas to my understanding is hacked, FFXIclopedia.org startin to show some buggy hacks, same with FFXIAH

So.....don't use any of the useful sites at all when logged into the game?

Hi guys. If you guys see any FFXI phishing sites and want to help slow down the phishing a tad, open up a command prompt and ping the website without the http:// and without any sub folders. So if it's http://www.ksjfslkfjsklf.com/fsjkadjf/jsdkf.asp or something just ping www.ksjfslkfjsklf.com

It will supply you with an IP.

If the IP class starts with 174.139. or 98.126.

then shoot me a PM on ffxiah.com so I can shut it down immediately. Or report it at phishtank.com.

Dumb question maybe. I recently made an account on the Linkshell Community Site. Is that compromised or is it safe? After reading through this thread, I'm all sorts of paranoid now.

I dont bot and have token and today i was kicked off due to being logged in from a different terminal after I had been online over an hour. >_<

No viruses no spyware which I dont think token will work with same number after an hour so idk!

Well i don't bot and have a token.. the same thing happened to me i was dc'd then when i tried to log-in again it said i was already logged in..I waited 5 minutes then was able to log in with no problem..this has happened to me like 2 times since I've been playing. I don't think this means I got hacked ...I think my character was not fully logged out after dc'ing so the server recognized me still being logged in. When i got back in my character was in the same spot and condition it was b4 i dc'd so this leads me to believe it was not a hack..

I know two people who got hacked, and I can assure you beyond a shadow of a doubt that neither made use of bots, ever, end of story.

However, neither had a security token, either. They do now. ^,^;

i just realized ffxi-atlas is bad thx to this thread :/ we need moar info hacking threads.

i was hacked roughly a year and a half ago. I was on one night, the next morning we drove 2hrs to watch a concert. Got wasted, stayed at a hotel. The next morning i drove home, got back in around 1pm. Turned on my game and bam. I had no access. Had to have a friend call a gm while i called SE.
Had my password reset. Kicked hte person off. Logged in and found my self stripped naked with nothing but R/E and farming in SSG.

I myself have never touched a bot and was using xbox 50% of the time then also.

Forgot to add, i got my game rolled back and everythign was fine.

Also before they shut me down and rolled it back (i had no acces for 4 weeks) I was able to look at the delivery guy and find 2 items that hadnt been picked up yet that the RMT were sending. I reported the names of the RMT's to the GM who was rolling my account and he said it wasnt enough to do anythign about them.... -.- made me very angry
