Worst Mistake You Did In Ffxi

Well, back in the day I started dating an LS officer in game. I get the feeling that having any relationship of that kind through an MMO is pretty dumb. He was way more serious about it than I was (cause I was in the middle of grad school) and he ended up trying to move to where I was to live with me. That did not end well (LS broke soon after) and was definitely my worst mistake in ffxi.

He might have been meleeing. It was a different time.

It was a different time indeed. Rangers then got priority for Ridill and this was before the distance penalty on ranged attacks. So we stood up close and personal to the mobs just the same as any other DD did.

Yeah, I was a melee COR when I finally did sky, and my years spent as a 45 RNG were in the time when we would melee for TP.

Not me, but had a friend who told me he wasn't very popular in his dynamis shell for a bit. He was on brd/whm fighting in Dyna-Windy and was buffing everyone up and said regen was taking forever to cast. He figured he was lagging or something so he stood there waiting for it to finish, only to see him and the mages warped to Tele-Mea.

He didn't have a regen macro and so had just went through the menu with all the lag of Dyna-Windy, and hit the wrong spell.

Funny, I remember being THAT guy lol

damn and this guy is one of the few from that linkshell that didnt use the salvage hack to feed its mythic...call bulllshit on karma!

i was doing the ENM "Holy Cow" back in the day trying to get a cloud evoker for the Bahamut V2 figh for my dragon harness (this was 2006??) and on my way up a ls was fighting Jormy... I casually went by and cast cure 3 on some dude who happened to be fighting a spawn bomb.... anyway, i slide down the hill, enter the enm, kill big buffalo, and evoker pops out of the chest!!! first one in like a year!! next thing i know BAM!!! my screen changes and i m in front of jormy!! the alliance had wiped and I apparently was on the hate list for jormy...one whack and dead.. no reraise.. no cloud evoker!

except you zone into bearclaw pinnacle for the ENM, so how is this possible

Hmm.... I had to think very hard xD

1. Using Pluto's staff with all enfeeble because my friend told me it's all I needed for enfeebles >.> It was a long year of wondering why my paralyze 2/Slow 2/Bind weren't sticking. That was before I even had access to a PC.

2.Using a scroll of Warp on my first salvage run....ever, instead of a RR scroll after we entered.

3.Claiming a Darter a minute before window, of course it popped that window and of course we died :(

4.Playing on Xbox with 3-4 macro for one spell for 4 effing years........

5.When I started playing FF XI, I knew basic English, so I spoke and understood very little......SO MANY TIMES PEOPLE WOULD SAY QUESTIONABLE WORDS AND I WOULD ASK WHAT IT MEANS......regret...so many regrets -_- (hi2u blue waffles)

6.Linked to #5, I would make questionable jokes in my first endgame Ls chat because it's what all guys would do and I wanted to befriend everyone (I was 16.....okay?!),but instead I ended with the e-*** title because girls aren't allowed to joke like guys do. -_- Oh I wish I knew #7 back then, so many tears....so many.

7.Thinking MMO were full of cute puppies, lollypops and rainbows :( Nope, there's *** and a bunch of them xD

8. Trying to pronounce names of things/areas on voice chats when you speak french.... would get some laughs from my ls mates and that still happens......@Apu-ru-ru-ru-thing D:

Back around the time that Yorcia V2 came out, I dumped ALOT of +2 Duskstones(All types, we didn't know how duskstone augments worked yet.) into my Doomsday at the time. I already had pretty cool augments on it (20ish MAB, 5% WSD) and I finally got a really good AGI augment. I was pretty pleased.

So sometime later I am helping a LS mate do his Nyzul climb to start working on a mythic. I ALWAYS completely change gear out in my inventory when I change jobs. I hate clutter. Somehow, I missed the Doomsday.

I have this thing where I like IDing the ??? items even though they are almost always worth less than the cost to ID them. I just enjoy it. Anyway, we have a ??? item in the pool and I check my inventory. Full of these worthless *** mythic base weapons. Bah. I'll just toss them all and clear room in case anymore ??? items drop. I'm running around looking for a lamp in Nyzul while absentmindedly throwing away mythic base weapons. I hit the "Yes, I really want to throw away this item" and my heart immediately sinks.

You throw away a "Doomsday".

I called GMs and considered using my one time item restore, but they told me it wouldn't have the augments. Not as bad as making the wrong mythic, but it certainly was the most gil I have thrown away at one time.

I camped Lord of Onzozo for about 3 months with 2 other people, never missed a day/night. Towards the end I said I was tired and didn't want to do it anymore (couldn't keep up with waking up at 4 in the morning and sitting for half the day killing PHs). The guy who was holding our current club at the time got upset and made it sound like I was "using him for his talents". I didn't see the gil from that club (this was when they were selling for around 200 mil).
Around that time I helped some random passerby kill the thing and during the fight I told him he could have it. I was bard and couldn't solo and no one else was on. He'd been camping for a month but he ended up selling it a week later.

Fastforward a year or two later. I scammed some guy who I knew(had a bit of an ego, and some gil). He'd given his password to a few people he trusted and one of those people was a friend of mine. Anyway I paid him for the password, took the 10 million on his account and gave it out to friends (around 5-6 people). That guy shortly quit afterwards and joined the army, so I don't feel as bad.

This happens a lot more then you would think or over paying for something on the ah, when trying to bid. lol Just the other day I got a tell from someone who instead of paying 380k on a +2 stone they paid 2.3 mil that I had put on AH. I gave them their money back.

I have been guilty of that as well, and have paid 200k for a 20k voidstone once on the AH.

Or how about the people that put something in bazaar that is only worth 100k as 1,000,000, and you accidentally buy it. I have not done that but I know of people who have accidentally bought way over priced stuff from bazaar's.

Hmmm. Nope. Not going there.

Using my one-time recovery for an Auster's staff way back when after accidentally selling it to an NPC. I haven't accidentally dropped something significant ever since, but I will regret it deeply if I ever do.

One of my LS friends needed Rem's chapter from the Kindred Spirits fight recently, so a couple of us went along to help him. I had been able to solo the fight on BST, so naturally I went in thinking it would be a piece of cake. Especially since one of the other guys was going as BLU.

The strategy was simple - the BLU would run in, sleep everything, and then we'd pick the mobs off one at a time (and I'd get to flex my awesome BST muscles by destroying each mob with my pet).

But on every damn run, the SMN would wake almost immediately and somehow use Astral Flow before we were ready. We still managed to win, but it was irksome and we had a couple of close calls.

Anyway, after we finished, I read through the chatlog to see who it was that was waking the SMN and damaging them enough to trigger AF - and it was me... I normally have the battlefield details displayed on my laptop so I can keep track of which mob is which, but this time I didn't, and I thought I was fighting the DRK. I was kicking myself after that, lol.

LOL, I did that last night! The SMN's ele was standing next to the DRK and I didn't check weapon types. ._.;;

Worst mistake everyone of us did:

Dispose of the "useless" VW money drops from Kaggen, Pil, etc

First time i quit i sold all my items and gave my money to friends. Took several comeback attempts before i got enough gear to not feel naked.

I quit in 2008 but allowed my brother to have access to my account. I had 220m gil and probably another 100m gil worth of AH-able gear. He stripped it, so when I came back I was broke, with little gear.

I shouldn't have given him my login, clearly.
