Worst Mistake You Did In Ffxi

Monk was my first 75 and the first job I got AF for, probably in '05. Temple Crown, from Garlaige coffer, took me 3 trips and a lot of help to get. The first trip we farmed the key, which took forever. It got late and people left, we couldn't find a chest and didn't have enough to open the banishing gates, so we had to come back another day.

The second trip people from my linkshell gathered to help open the gates. We searched every nook and cranny, but of course, the chest was behind the third gate. When I went to trade my key I realized I had left it in my mog safe.

I felt so guilty and embarrassed for wasting everyone's time that I fake DC'd. Blamed it on my mom pulling the plug so that I'd do my homework or something.

Still the funniest thing that's happened on slyph the last few years.

Anyway, worst thing I did? Hard to say, I've died to stupid ***on PLD my so called main job, my friends still mock me for dying to Genbu in the 75 days.

Other than that, probably standard stuff like forgetting echo drops when on a magic casting job.

I suppose when I started way back in 2005 my first job was Warrior and I was dead set on using a sword and shield because I always preferred using a sword and shield in just about every other game I had played. Then someone told me a Warrior should be using a great axe, hearing that I go and get a single axe.

Being negative toward other players. Looking back, there were a lot of players who took the game seriously but were still nice to other players... ;/

Being super naive about how many players, and who, were fish botting and what a huge advantage that was... I might not have power-leveled woodworking to 100. Might have set up my own bot instead lol.

Not knowing anything about enmity. Trick attack with Aegishjalmr, tier II nukes in Dragon's Aery...

RotZ, joined an alliance to get some KI through Ifrit's Cauldron into the jungle. Only after warping realized the text said I need to stand closer. Why is that even in the game? D:<

First time I did a high tier fight I wasnt aware of you automaticly recived chapters and had full inventory, then warped out pissed off and didnt notice there also was a treasure pool.

Fml.

I casted Deodorize on a Galka in sky

I didn't realize I had magic aggro'd a pot (this was my very first time in sky btw, as Lv. 65 BST)

I get one-shotted by a pot using Flare.

while doing dynamis on my ps2 back in 2006~, i was on my whm in the blm party. we were attacked by a horde on a bad boss pull. i started rush/panicking curing. all of sudden im zoning, thinking wtf we timed out. no i just teleported the entire sleeping/nuking party of blms to mea.

at some point while spamming cure macros, i held shift instead of control and hit up arrow instead of right arrow. changed me over to my telewhoring macros. got pissed off hit my macros and it was doing anyhting so i just spammed ctrl+1 waiting for something to happen.
something happened alright. lol

after it happened 2 more times, i delete those macros. even today i mostly menu cast or type commands since i moved to pc.

Once upon a time in sea... I called for help on Jailer of Love.

I stopped feeling bad after someone ELSE did the EXACT. SAME. THING. on the SAME JoL 7 minutes later!

Before that screw-up, I had accidentally called for help on Suzaku back when sky was still a big deal in 2006. I was freaking out so much that I cried...

I wasn't there but a friend from my level 75 sky LS CFH on Kirin once.

Back in '05 I was at a group event with a bunch of old, long-gone ls friends and one of them was pregnant. She was acting a little bitchier than normal, but her character was smiling that same, dumb smile we all do. I went to send a tell to one of my r/l fiends making some dumb joke about "her character is smiling, I should sue SE for false advertisement," but instead I mistell'd it...

Guess who I sent the mistell to.

1. Suckered in and led linkshells....

2. Spent 1 year waaaay too long in sky. I had an opportunity to do SEA but missed that boat.. instead of manning up and speaking up I hid or just didnt log in.

3. Should of jumped on VW earlier.. Final VW Boss and a 119 emp are my last accomplishments I need, but nerf coming!

I send 18 to bubble bernie only to found out I need the whole server for it.

Doing an assault mission with some dude redoing them for mythic.(never even read up on the exact procedure other than you need to redo all 50 assaults)
We cleared it, I'm closest to the rune and warp us out expecting it to auto log into his clears......

The other I remember is salvage with the frogs. Needing all 3 unlocks. And me always having inv issues constantly clearing out my inv of cells for space.
Anyway leader goes to the teleport we are farming the last cell for my unlock. It drops with a load of other crap. Somehow I manage to toss it as he warps us up. Fkkkk.

Convert deaths a plenty.
Catching your 2 hour macro by mistake when it's absolutely needed later on a run.
Also mistakenly DOTing a mob that needs to be slept. Lol in an alliance you just claim innocence and hope nobody saw it on the log.

There have been a couple 75 Dynamis incidents.

1) When doing the initial pull in the Jeuno palace I accidentally flashed the mob on the balcony, didn't realise until the whole of the palace swarmed the alliance.

2) Also Jeuno, THF aggroed the megaboss, I grabbed it claiming the pull was clean, no links. So everyone relaxed and focussed on the megaboss when a whole host of goblins came and tore us some new bum holes.

I can up that ante.

My RL friend a few months back (he's fairly new) was a second GEO in a Marjami Delve run with our LS...
Decided to use an intaRETRACE instead of echo-drops or something (idr what status removal item he was going for... Either echo-drops or remedy)...
And was very confused showing up in Bastok Markets (S).

To this day everyone still teases him about it.

Not really that big of a deal but back in '06(ish) when I first had to apply to an EGLS online and basically make a resume, I made it very clear that I was a career RDM (only 75 at the time) and that I liked soloing and doing everything I could as RDM.

Looking back, I just feel like I probably sounded very self absorbed and only looking out for me and getting stuff I wanted. ^^;

I had a hot streak of poping limbus chests, at the time I was brd and doing the usual brd rotation back then. I was in-between parties, ultima died the chest appeared. Ls mate says "ruch pop it you got hot luck with limbus lately" subconsciously I open the chest solo from the alliance, and,,.........

My highest job was a level 45 ranger for about 3 years back at launch and I didn't go to sky until I was a 75 COR. I basically sat around all day farming gil and camping low level NMs and never getting drops. it was such a silly waste of time.

quit drk after deleveling due to resting in upper delkfutts tower at a time where mobs didnt despawn when deaggro'd away from their area. to get the equip i had for drk (2 snipers, assault earring, victory rings, haub, a ranged accuracy set for acid bolts ect)i spent about 3 months in giddeus harvesting beehive chips, flax flowers, eventually red moko grass and hoo mjuu the torrent. i decided to level nin and sold everything i worked so hard to get in order to buy 2 (most important things of course, i got a lot of other minor things like the +5 evasion earrings, enmity stuff, ect) things. scorpion harness and utsusemi ni. i decided to go back to giddeus and continue farming so i could focus hard on leveling nin all the way. i put scorpion harness in my bazaar for 1,333,337 while standing at the entrance of giddeus while i went to take a shower because, its *** leet right?! it was worth a LOT more than that and it was THE motivation to level nin. i came back from the shower to find it had been purchased by someone and they wouldnt give it back. i almost quit.

it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me. i decided to push on and level nin. it was a mostly single player game to me. i was really good at it, too. i would solo IT's even with just ichi. i got a strong knowledge of how mob mechanics worked and from then on this game became a search for the next challenge. it made me LOVE low manning things, working to be the best i can be. it made me realize what mages need to do to be efficent, what I myself needed to do to play into my mages strengths and weaknesses, and tons more.

when leveling nin i got invites from people who i thought were "those elite players" in hnmls's even when i wasnt seeking (was probably soloing for practice) at a time where my cousin was the most hated player on the server, the casino/stealing type. my rep went from "the cousin of the most hated player so he is shady and not trustworthy or a good player" to "here borrow my byrnie+1 for this, our static is exping against pugils and stuff in den of rancor and it will be a roaming ws spam party". my confidence was high all the time, everything in the game that people said was hard wasnt.

Worst mistake: CFH on Kirin

Best Hero moment: 18-man alliance doing Byakko. 17 dead and I'm the last man standing (Ranger). It's down to me or Byakko with both having just a sliver of health left. My TP fills before Byakko is able to unleash another attack. I let loose a Sidewinder and watch his HP reduce to 0.

About a month ago I did AA Hume for a friend to get him a Anahera Saber (as he had no swords for BLU). I was sleepy though so I accidentally lotted it. I don't even have BLU unlocked. Not as big a deal since I can just go back and keep re-fighting it, but still feel pretty guilty to get a friend all excited and then pull the rug from under them.

(@Avalon) Your TP fills from shooting, and you execute a WS before Byakko's next attack round? I find that a bit hard to believe, to be honest.
