Sometimes you're a bit too candid. Even about friends.
It's shitty if he said that publicly though, and I'm not going to defend it beyond saying that the pressure to share things about Nirvana has to be pretty intense, especially as time goes by and there's nothing "new" to tell, so you open up more and more about things you probably shouldn't.
But that said...maybe that's something you just keep to yourself even if people are pushing. I dunno. I'm not in his shoes to say that though.

I'm not an "expert" by any means. I wasn't a huge fan when they were an ongoing thing, but I listened and had friends who were huge fans, and being a drummer myself I covered a lot of their stuff at the time.
I don't know what the dude is like as a human being, but as a musician and personality in the music world, I really like the man. His head seems like it's in the right place.

Yeah, it really sucks when you hear good music but can't help thinking about how much you don't like the person behind it, but there are some additional factors that add to or take away that feeling for me personally.
For example, Axl Rose was bad in so many ways but he owned it, so I don't feel weird about enjoying Guns 'N Roses music. On the other hand, I can't hear the song "Imagine" without thinking about what a hypocrite John Lennon was.
Similarly, I still don't like Apple products because of that jerk Steve Jobs, whether he was a genius or not.

Pretty much. It's more the fact that he's in the public eye. I get that he's a musician and not some kind diplomat, but I lose a lot of respect for someone who can't leave well enough alone when they have a soapbox.
