Madonna has italian origins.

Yeah. She's obviously not Irish and all the Catholic imagery/the name/etc. was sort of a dead give away.

Nothing messes up a kid in quite the same way as an Italian-American mother/upbringing.

Plenty of things mess up a kid worse, but nothing quite the same.

I would say "not sure how we went from Trump to Madonna" but that's actually not the biggest leap ever..

And I'd say it's better to be off-topic and getting along than on-topic and at each others' throats, so it's close enough!

Im assuming you mean after giving them all legal citizen status. You know protests will then kick in how such ppl are now 2nd class citizens.

Yes a status where they don't get deported. They can stay but the penalty is they can never vote.

This video summarizes everything that is wrong with music.

I don't know if that is even music...it is 99% dancing 1% music.

She played the "meat dress" card too early in her career and had nowhere to go from there.

The problem with Lady Gaga is she stopped trying after her first album. She let the "fame monster" get to her.

Well, it's good to know that even the biggest celebs can just be a flash-in-the-pan without something really substantial to back their career up.

You can't keep the crazy up forever. Even Miley Cyrus seems to have burnt out already.

I enjoy how the same people that for two years have called practically every police officer in America racist and the entire criminal justice system racist; are pretending to be upset that Trump insinuated that he might be getting unfair treatment by one judge because of his heritage.

Gaga at least has a great voice. Can't say the same about Madonna, and surely not about Britney.

Madonna was great up until she became more about the image and celebrity than the music releases. Her 80s work was fantastic, standing out as great among many other great and worthy contenders of 80s pop.

Brittney was...eh. From a nostalgic point of view I like her because we're the same age and she was mega popular when I was in HS. I never cared for her actual music much, but it was catchy enough.

I couldn't tell you about Gaga. I've heard like three songs, only knew one was hers for sure at the time because the song was so big. I wasn't horribly impressed, but that's as much a decry of formulaic songwriting as it is a knock on her.

Would you two stop trying to ***up the thread by staying on topic?

We're having legitimate discussions about pop music here.

Ah, well. I know Gaga has received praise from respected peers and forebears for her musical skill, so I shall defer to them regarding that and take it as fact.

That's a decent way to deal with a grandfather clause. Technically you can't punish people for things that weren't against a particular law before it was the law, but we also need a clean slate going forward as part of any reform. I'd say let them stay and grant them conditional legal status. Limit what government services they have access to and allow minors who were brought here an expedited naturalization process when they turn 18. You could get both parties on board and justify much stricter punishments for future illegal immigration.

I'm just thankful they didn't drag out Dave Grohl to do a Prince tribute. It seems there is no one else whenever a musician dies.

"*insert artist name* died. Someone call Dave Grohl."

"Already did. He called us actually."
