I just can't seem to make a choice! People have been telling me to get a Keriyeh Ring, but I just don't know... any feedback would be awesome.
Also, I major in SAM DRG WHM and GEO with a minor in NIN and BLU.

Picking a SoA ring
I just can't seem to make a choice! People have been telling me to get a Keriyeh Ring, but I just don't know... any feedback would be awesome.
Also, I major in SAM DRG WHM and GEO with a minor in NIN and BLU. If you do any crafting, Orvail is amazing. You can always change rings once you cap skills.
Hmmm... that is a good idea. I don't plan to craft any time soon.
I think Vocane is the most universally useful, especially when paired with Dring. -17% DT in only two slots (rings nonetheless) is amazing.
Yeah I'm leaning towards a Vocane ring.
Karieyh Ring is only really useful for certain WSs, since WS Damage+% only applies to the first hit. I'd pick it up if you take SAM more seriously than any other and you have no intentions of getting an Ifrit's +1.
Weatherspoon is one of the better rings due to the Fast Cast and Magic Accuracy. These'll help your WHM, GEO, NIN and BLU regularly, and the other jobs will benefit if you need shadows or something. I chose Vocane and have never once wished I'd chosen differently. Having All my jobs gain DT -17% is amazing.

Weatherspoon or Vocane everything else is meh. I chose Vocane and zero regrets. It's not flashy but it's solid.
I'd prefer Vocane had the DT-3% II we were teased with, but then I suppose that just caters to Epeolatry and Burtgang owners more than anyone else. Still, stuff like Dark Rings and Patricius Ring exist, so to me, Vocane Ring might as well come with a signboard that says "my luck is ***".
Well, when I chose it I didn't have a D Ring, so there's that. Now that I have one I still don't want to swap.
Weatherspoon is an excellent choice, should you decide against Vocane. The Regain on the other one just doesn't seem efficient unless your group regularly takes half an hour to gather for events. Sylph.Jeanpaul said: » Vocane Ring might as well come with a signboard that says "my luck is ***". Does damage taken have a cap?
-50% is the damage taken cap, with certain exceptions. Aegis, Burtgang, Aettir, Epeolatry... basically anything with a "II" added to it can surpass that cap. The hard cap on magic damage taken with Aegis is -87.5%.
Are the SoA rings transferable to mules?
Lakshmi.Deces said: » Are the SoA rings transferable to mules? No, you can not dbox them to mules, or trade them. As far as rest of topic goes depends on what jobs you like to play more. Weatherspoon ring is a good choice for mages but I know several people that have recently turned in the rings they originally picked to get the movement speed +18% one (Shneddick Ring). All depends on what you want. If you play any mages: Weatherspoon is always the best, no other SoA ring comes close to the usefulness of this. 5% FC beats any other option, 3% Quick Magic beats any other option and is a huge deal for nukers as you can instantly recast a VI or V nukes. Macc+10 is your best Macc ring. Light Matk isn't useful for a lot of things but where it is useful it is amazing.
If you play only DDs (and only ones with single hit low mod WSes): Karieyh. If you only craft: Orvail Ring. I could see an argument for Janniston Ring for Whm mains. I don't see a single reason you would ever get Vocane Ring, PDT is not hard to cap. Asura.Failaras said: » I don't see a single reason you would ever get Vocane Ring, PDT is not hard to cap. Weatherspoon is insanely hard to beat if you have even just a couple mage jobs. The stats on it are just incredible. With the BST bandwagon in full swing at the moment, I can definitely see the value of Thurandaut, as I don't think it's possible to hit that 87.5% DT for pets even with it.
Pet PDT caps higher than 50%?
Asura.Failaras said: » Pet PDT caps higher than 50%? I think it was 100% at a certain point when Abyssea was released. Stacking with Ducal Guard and another atma if I'm not mistaken? That or very close to 100%. No clue, I always thought it capped at 50% from gear/atmas and Stout Servant independently boosted it.
From the BST guide, Falkirk mentions it's a cap of 87.5%, which is just insane. I don't think it's even possible to get that high.
I'd have to look it up to be certain, but I'm fairly sure that -87.5% is indeed the PDT cap for pets.

I see no love for the Haverton Ring, why is that? Thought there were plenty of RNG fans out there.
Haverton is great, too, and is excellent for any DW job as well. It's just that others are a bit better. I had Haverton before when I was very focused on COR and RNG, but I recently swapped to Weatherspoon because I've been playing more mages as of late.

When you have capped haste buffs, basically any party situation of trust situations, you need very little to cap on most jobs. Thf needs 11% and Blu needs 5% iirc, which is basically what you will get without even attempting to get it because of JSE capes and Taeon feet. Snapshot has been theorized to cap with either Coursers or Flurry 2, maybe even Flurry 1 with good Snapshot gear. It's basically an extremely situational ring that is used for situations like Salvage/Dynamis where you honestly don't need more DPS output anyways. |
