immmmm sorta here V lol but it sounds like delve with the whole beads thing cuz you need the beads to pop the none fracture NM's but m i suppose it could swing either way but Abyssea with no atma??? i dont mind abyssea at all it was always very doable where delve was very Selective who could do it.
can you imagine doing abyssea with no atma tho my god talk about hard haha. i went from not excited to very excited >.>

Serious question: What exactly did the whiners expect?
Its not like this is a paid expansion, or even a mini-expansions, its just a series of content updates over a 6 month period. Just the timescale should offer a clue about what is and what is not likely to be in there. As to Escha just being an Abyssea/Delve hybrid, again what else is it likely to be given the sheer number of variants of this sort of event template that are already in the game? After all these years you really ought to have figured out what to expect, and if that's not to your taste you should have twigged that they are monumentally unlikely to change the playbook drastically at this point in time. Edit - Lots of nice updates posted while I was thinking of what to post that clears up what I was wondering about. Still would not object to ilvl version of Occ. Attack 2-4+ weapons from this last stretch of content, or wacky Proto-Kraken Club. Leviathan.Tohihroyu said: » All the people getting salty over non subbers posting their 2 cents you all sound like pepe "NORMIES GET OUT 11 IS OURS NORMIES GET OUT REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" I know people have been hoping for new Dynamis zones (or hard versions since adding the Arch bosses but with iLevel gear even those can be soloed by most jobs) But with them officially saying they WILL NOT be opening blocked off areas (Kahzam ah area, the caves to nowhere in Kon & Battlia downs and so on) and also not going to bother with opening other zones that are always talked about but never mentioned (far east, far south, far north, and the areas only open in Shadowregin & Abyssea) And what do we get? another Abyssea like zone only no time restrictions, a black & white TV remake of a zone we already have :| sorry but unless the final ending for this is on par with CoP it seems to not be worth it, shaping up to be Abyssea if it was an expansion rather than add-ons. And some still play non subbed in private servers and those who manage them want to look if there might be any updates worth adding since there's a few that have 99 cap & seekers content. (No I don't play on PS but i'd like to.) Some also roleplay and like to tune in to updates and commentary to see if they can update their character's story or not. They just want this classic MMO to end so they can shift it all aside for the mobile game. And what help Draylo? sure I'm grateful for it (though this was waaaaay back with when drg was my main hell the first AF I iLeveled was the pants plus bettering drk too was helpful.), till this stupid drama with Thornyy & his bots and not being welcome for any new gear because I didn't have the "right jobs" leveled (cause I have no interest in bard, cor and lacked the 119 relics needed like the Ghorn, & pink harp cause I don't care for those jobs) and then...hmm when you removed me off your friendlist and blocked me? in game yeah. (this was long before your ban and return then server change mind you) Why even waste your breath getting angry over people who have a different opinion then yours? No ones stopping you from still enjoying the game and its content. But some are a little annoyed with this whole "rose colored glasses" thing and acting as if this game is still as great as it was in like...idk 2006~2009? meh...if you like this game fine, go get what you can out of it but don't force people to still have to play because "OMG BEST GAME EVAR" And the people wishing death on you are idiots and you should report them, people who wish death on anyone are not good people or people you should not even waste time listening to, its just a game for crying out loud. When u don't have the job they have space for then they have no room for you. Are they suppose to make one of their elite dds go play bard to make space for you? But then, they saw an Abyssea rehash, which in my opinion is pretty much the worst thing they could have done. So their disappointment is understandable. With no future, this content will not last long, mostly because people are going to just plow through it pretty much effortlessly. It already sounds hilariously casual given there is no limit to entry, you get temporary buffs like abyssea, I would fully expect powerful temp items, and you can summon trusts. Well the 3rd installment in November is suppose to be entirely new content. Maybe we get something long lasting then. Just don't set your hopes on it.
Know what is sad? This preview video got me excited more than any SoA preview. Even the expansion announcement was pretty lacking, partly because I wanted to see other places, such as Rhazowa, instead of a place mentioned only in the description of a furniture and by a campaign freelancer.
It shows that this time, they are trying harder to give their loyal playerbase a more polished and satisfying (at least story wise, cutscenese etc.) content as a last push. I don't want to say they may just be trying to create an empty hype... I hope they don't. To add to what you have said, most sky/sea NMs have unique gimmicks/pop mechanics too. Remove the proc system and sky/sea NMs are even more complex than Abyssea NMs. In Abyssea, you farm pop item, go through your WS/magic list and survive the "OMG WIPE" move. In sky/sea, you had to deal with physical restrictions, pop conditions and unique battle mechanics. Quote: Remove the proc system and sky/sea NMs are even more complex than Abyssea NMs. Care to elaborate how they are even more complex than Abyssea NMs? They aren't that much more complex, Abyssea Nms before all the buffs were much harder than a lot of sky due to different mechanics. Quote: In Abyssea, you farm pop item, go through your WS/JA/magic list and survive the "OMG WIPE" move. Pop conditions aren't unique to sky/sea and were in Abyssea too. Unique battle mechanics were in Abyssea too, some bosses required different strategies like the Uragnite swapping between phy/magic mode, Giant spider doing a 1hp move with chance of swinging after etc, a lot of different mechanics in play. Abyssea is a guaranteed drop too, you can even icnrease the drop rate with the gimmicks and they werent required as you could solo it and eventually get the drop if you were patient. It didn't force you to play any way at all, BST were soloing all the damn time as well as many other jobs. You could progress at your leisure and not have to rely on 18 other people for that no drop in sky. Stuck on an NM if you didn't have a group? Dude.. it was all soloable and if not you needed two other people at most. You NEEDED like 10~18 people for the Sky NMs in its prime, how is that a comparison? lol @ any job performing, people used the same jobs all the time for sky. It isn't wrong/shallow to say they are identical, because they are. The game hasn't really strayed from that system very much. You aren't asking for the old days of 18 players lotting vs each other or nostalgia (which this certainly is what it seems like) but the pop system? That is the post I quoted, he said people wanted that pop system and its in Abyssea too but improved upon. He's less composed than I remember. Gotten kinda weird. Yeah hes delirious from FFXI deprivation and self disillusion. Sea & Sky are both areas built around the notion of working up a ladder of increasingly difficult NM's in order to face a zone mega-boss. That's the basic formula for pretty much every major event zone in the game.
I also think people are forgetting how hard Sky and Sea were back when they were the respective end-game areas. Is anyone really going to defend AV as a good design choice? Sea basically broke half the event shells in the game due to how unforgiving it was. Its also convenient to forget that both Sky and Sea aren't zones, they are regions containing multiple zones with each being only sparsely populated with anything worth a damn given their size. Al'taeiu for instance is a huge zone with a whole 7 bosses in it, by comparison each Abyssea zone contains around 25. Same thing applies to Sky, its cool but content is kinda thin given the expanse. It just doesn't make much sense to build areas like that anymore given server populations and the absence of any value in farming for xp. Yeah well Abyssea may have been packed with NMs but all the zones were pre-existing ones polluted with gloomy red.
Would be great to get a whole new region packed with NMs like Abyssea. Honestly though, I personally wouldn't want any region resembling Sky or Sea. Most the zones are cluttered and maze'ish. Another instance battlefield like Delve packaged along would be nice too. Just hopefully not as bland looking and elementary. Realistically all we will get is something the size of Cape Terrigan I'll bet. |
