thats a lot sooner then i would have guessed
Too bad it won't hit NA for a few weeks or months after that and will probably never get a PC port. If this game is good, I'll probably break down and buy a PS4.
I hope it has a lot of planets to visit. I always enjoyed the medieval ones the most though.
There better be more Symbology than you can shake a stick at too!

Oh wow, 7-person party??
I hope the game is somewhat difficult on the first playthrough, I usually dominate everything even though I don't mean to. Star Ocean 2 was ridiculously easy for example.

Same deal with SO3, sidekick cancel spam.

Freya was a pain in the tush.
Asura.Ina said: » Its been like 10 years, I seem to remember you just held the button and it would continue forever. I probably had something different on the heavy long range hit to break shields then did the cancel to Energy Burst for the cancel bonus. Yeah it just kept draining fury till you let go of the button... I thought for a minute I missed out on something beautiful D:

I just remember how trivial everything was once you figured out the token combo skills. Odin.Godofgods

The only thing iv never been fond of with the SO games (second story and TTEOT at least) was the complete randomness of the crafting system. That has always annoyed the hell outa me. Bismarck.Dracondria said: » Star Ocean 2 was ridiculously easy for example. Well i was still pretty damn young when i played that the first time. And very little experience with rpg type games. So it was harder for me. The main one i remember were those flame brothers in the final tower. They always whopped my ***. After so many years i actually did a play through with the sole goal of finally beating them on my very first try; because they always killed me at least once. Odin.Godofgods

those very first mechanical spider mobs on TTEOT on the harder difficult were a pain too. Took me a while to get past the very first fight. One hit can kill you and since its the first real fight there is no leveling up or getting better equip etc.
YouTube Video Placeholder This is the first real gameplay demo shown, showing off the combat system. Live battles, featuring your entire party. From the looks of it, you can choose 3 characters to take control of, though it appears to be very early in the game (just guessing by the lack of abilities being used). Today, SE had an hour long livestream of SO5 gameplay, sorry I didn't post the announcement sooner so it could be watched live.
I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but I can say the stream gets started at the 9 minute mark. I also don't have a translation. YouTube Video Placeholder I'm only a little ways in, but If I saw a group of people running around a town like that I'd be very concerned for their well-being.
If you listen carefully, you can hear "Valkyrie Profile - Fighting the Shadowy Gods " playing around 40:47 when they start that battle.
At 45:25 Claude "Come here Barney!" lol. At 1:01:03 you can see them change something bgm related, which looks like it changed the battle theme. Afterwards, you can hear Star Ocean 2's battle theme "Stab the Sword of Justice." Then at 1:06:25 you can hear Star Ocean 3's battle theme "Cutting Edge of Notion." Again at 1:11:12 they change it again and the battle start playing Star Ocean 4's battle theme "Blood on the Keys." I really like that they give you the option to change the battle theme any time you like, and they use the actual OST version, and not a remix or arranged version. I'm not really sure if I like how the whole party is on the screen with you at the same time though. Looks a little too clustered maybe, but I guess it's more realistic. Other than that, I am excited to be getting another Star Ocean game next year. Carbuncle.Scarmiglione said: » I am excited to be getting another Star Ocean game next year. I liked 4 a lot actually, and ignoring the plot twist of 3, it was pretty good as well. And even if the stories are lackluster, they still have great gameplay and battle mechanics. Plus the crafting as well. The Star Ocean games are pretty unique in some aspects, and Tri-Ace does a good job at keeping with tradition.
Is it strange that I have such a love for Star Ocean 2, that I force myself to love everything after it even though it might not always be the greatest? lol.
KAY? I didn't have a problem with Lymle, I thought she was cute and adorable. And all she really wanted was some nappy time with Edgey.
