How many did you take when you got your clear? Hard to say how many were real people, i believe it was like 14 characters, but theirs a chance someone was quad boxing and 2 people were dual boxing.

So people are already complaining its too hard and you guys cleared it with multi-boxing. Color me amazed that people are bitching they cant stand in Jeuno on day 2 in full Empy i119 gears. I like how they did this. You can sell the mats to upgrade but you can't upgrade unless you're flagged.
Have only done one run of it but it seems like once you have the right setup and know what to expect its not that bad. Lakshmi.Zerowone said: » I like how they did this. From our experiences last night, it seems Vagary isn't front-line job friendly. BLM's, RNG's and SMN's seem the way to go. We had 2 PLD's though (1 of which was Burtgang) holding the MB and Elementals, so that part seemed vital. Asura.Fiv said: » If you clear it with the RoE objective set, you get a free upgrade item it sounds, i forgot to set, but others did. Please don't cry about event difficulty, most of the people i know quit because its all too easy. Now people are complaining its too hard because they haven't got the win on the first day before we figure out any tricks. The devs are never going to find a balance between the people that want hard content versus easy content, its refreshing to have some form of challenge, but well probably know of some tricks in less then a month that makes it a complete joke. farming etched memories seems pretty easy 6 man. Did slimes with pld, sam, thf, geo, brd, whm and got 53 memories 1st run, 57 memories 2nd run and killed small pink slime nm. It pretty much felt like a CP party lol.
Asura.Fiv said: » I should have dual boxed, i def need my own WHM. :( You need your own army of support. Consider quad boxing! is this a joke? how havnt people realized that sometimes, even giving those terrible players that think its immoral to sell wins a SMALL role in an event can lead to failure because of how consistently theyll cause issues? when i took people in my low man delves to leech wins, even recently, i told them to do nothing or if i felt they could contribute without being in the way of how i was executing my strats, an extremely limited role.
if you are consistently in parties that wipe, you need to reevaluate how you play the game. its not others its you. why is it OK to hinder a party just so you can be involved? go make gil for a few days doing the content youre good at (dyna, salv, ect) then pay someone to do it for you. time spent on your time card leads to the same result, as long as youre working towards it at all. Siren.Kiyara said: » Meh, Einherjar. That ***was a pain in the ***. Could never get past Tier 2. Really get tired of 18 man content. Becomes more of a job that anything. Geez, what a crybaby. You don't sound good enough anyway, so you go ahead and step down. What's wrong with Ein? It was a good event.

She is talking about Ejar at 75-cap, and how it was a great and enjoyable event. Ejar II when it was relevant too probably, relevant for more than simply mythic building, that is. Vagary seems very similar to Ejar, so there is a good chance that it too, is an enjoyable event. Wait, are we comparing it to that newer fluffy bag of kittens einherjar that everyone knows about now or that beast that was the original einherjar? Man that was some hard stuff. I mean it was nerfed well before the level cap was raised, when it was new it was basically impossible haha.
I thought Ein was really boring and lacked rewards. The Pre-Odin chamber drop rate on ABJs was terrible so you had the majority of the rewards filtered to 1/4th the runs. The Shadow gear was pretty terrible before the augmenting ability and the Odin drops were a little lackluster for the effort. It was an alternative way to get Ebody/Abody which was cool but overall didn't feel very compelling of an event.
Asura.Fiv said: » that beast that was the original einherjar? I was under the impression this, but yeah it sure was fun. Tackling the baddies, friendly parsing competitions between linkshell friends(even some drama ones!) etc, good times. My favorite was the Dvergr T3, ***was chaos. Personally liked the Behemoth and the ideas of whats making it use meteor so much, but the malboro NM taking SE before DRK zerg nerf was pretty fun too.

Yes, tell people that buying runs is better than improving their skills and doing research on runs to become a better player. Devolve the player base even further by spreading the example that if people need help they have to pay for it. Just for sh**s and giggles I randomly put mercenary in google search and the definition further proves my point of mercs in FFXI are: "Mercenary(Noun): a person primarily concerned with material reward at the expense of ethics. Which translates too: Quote: "We care nothing about helping you, we want your MONEY (Gil)". Helping returning players or newbies out of the kindness of our hearts means nothing to us cause we love money more to get worthless in game crap." At this point of the game's life, merc'ing is moronic, especially with this being the last year of updates and new content can be cleared if you work hard to clear it instead of taking the easy way out (no wonder people keep saying FFXI is "easy mode" nowadays.) Seriously, what are you gonna do with that Gil after November? Some of you who sell runs are so obsessed with making money off people who are lazy and/or taking advantage of players who know no better (yes I know and seen some of you do that, and it's disgraceful) that you forget helping out others is it's own reward. Is virtual currency that important that you can't take time to help out a fellow player who really needs help? I remember back in my early days playing the game, I was new to FFXI and had no idea wtf I was doing, I had some nice players help me out and they even gave me some Gil to help me out out of the kindness of their hearts. I've never forgotten about them and the kindness they showed, so I tried to show the same kindness to other players who needed help over the years and volunteered to help them, not for money but to help them out of the kindness of my heart. IMO, this game has been extremely degraded since my early days when helping out others was a show of good will and not draining people's pockets. This is the point I'm trying to make: Be an good example to other players and take the time to help out those in need instead of forcing them to pay for help. Show them that kindness and helping out others is it's own reward. It's a good life lesson as well, especially if kids play this game. Think about that. Cerberus.Avalon said: » I think the OP has valid concerns, but unfortunately either someone is going to buy the items at ridiculously marked up prices or they're going to take some friends into the content to farm the items themselves. On Cerberus, there are 2 kinds of players right now: Long-time veterans who do nothing but end-game content and returning players coming back and playing catch up. There's not a whole lot of in-between. That being said, if people want to merc Vagary like any other content then that's their prerogative. If you aren't interested in organizing parties or alliances and/or are too busy in real life to do so, then perhaps it's better for you to accept the services of people who can help deliver the content results to you. If you do not want to part ways with your gil just to stay relevant each version update, then join a Linkshell that enjoys helping its members clear various contents. Avalon! It was an alternative way to get Ebody/Abody which was cool but overall didn't feel very compelling of an event. An alternate way to get Ebody/Abody was pretty significant to be honest. Most EG shells didn't camp much, if at all, so it was mostly the only source. The event is short, free of enduring boring camping, free of stressful competition, and was fun, but I guess that last bit is subjective. I can't remember the incor rewards other than the rings, which were good. The Valhalla gears were decent, and so were the weapons I think? I don't think it lacked rewards, but I would agree they weren't amazing. Well, other than Abody/Ebody, but yeah. I would be willing to "merc" content for people with idris geos or 99 daurb/ghorn brds assuming they know how to do songs, and i wouldn't even charge them any gil.
If mercs didn't want the upgrade items along with the gil I wouldn't mind paying for runs. But if I am paying for the run then I want all drops.
