I just hope that the way you get summons like Ramuh, in the final release, isn't just to do a dungeon and click on a plant at the end. I would actually like battle against summons.

I'm good with it, that cave was obnoxious enough. Extra crispy behemoth ftw.
I just think that summons shouldn't help you just because you touched a tree. You should be earning their respect in some way or another.
Then there are games like FF7 where all you do is pick up a materia orb, but bleh. I like to think that you earn the right to call them into battle because you showed them what you're capable of through their trial, or something like that.

I totally agree. I also hope that summons aren't tied to anyone in particular.

I'm pretty sure leviathan is involved with the story, or the ending of the first game.
