SE Live Stream (3/19) CONCLUDED
Not exactly sure what to expect, however, I know what I want. A digital download version for PS3. That would just make my year.
they will probably combine NA and EU together
Shiva.Kasaioni said: » I bet it's server merges again. I've never seen Shiva above 750 recently. And everybody needs more login campaigns. And unity quests. Or maybe they'll bring back the glory days of Abyssea with Abyssea - Adoulin to coincide with the upcoming AF3 reforging. AF4 with a new tier of abyssea areas.... brb I have to go clean up. So we all just think the letter in Mexican is just a hoax?, wish this time tomorrow would hurry up I've no patience lol
What's also interesting is that this announcement caused this much commotion. I'm sure we can interpret it as there is interest in playing ffxi. They just need to make the right changes, hype it and guess who is back?
People love this game, I just don't think I'm quite ready to stop. But I think no way to free to play if you do a math if every 1 of the servers has about 1000 players since most have alts and most have at least 2 main accounts you looking at around $400,000 a month alone in subs, got to guess it probably takes maybe $20,000 a month to keep it going maybe less. Just working on basic percent.

It's no more than an announcement with some speculation. See: http://www.ffxiah.com/forum/topic/46046/se-live-stream-for-the-future-of-ffxi-319/12/#2849051 Letter, email same thing at 4am lol, but you know what I mean lol.
Main reason I say is that letter BS, why would they choice Mexico off all country's, because it's mainly Jp American or eu players, just seems strange
we have like 15 servers still... it will probably go 8-5-3-1
something like that Square Enix has announced a press conference on the future of Final Fantasy XI for this Thursday, March 19th .
"We will have an event on plans for Final Fantasy XI on, with online broadcast internet " can be read on the official note on the Youtube channel where you can follow. Obviously it is not yet known what will communicate , but the two most likely options are adapting a model free to play with no fees or closing service for Final Fantasy XI Online, the latest MMORPG developer . Final Fantasy XI was the first leap into online role Square Enix , which successfully debuted on PC and PlayStation 2, and Xbox 360. Later For more than a decade and has been active on the model of subscription fee. there is the translation http://www.vandal.net/noticia/1350661979/square-enix-hablara-el-jueves-sobre-el-futuro-de-final-fantasy-xi/ Elazar1 said: » Main reason I say is that letter BS, why would they choice Mexico off all country's, because it's mainly Jp American or eu players, just seems strange it's not official.
Speculations, like every 14 pages of this thread. We'll know everything tomorow. New speculation :
Synergy cap increase to 100 ! Go Go Go ! Woot ! :-) Elazar1 said: » People love this game, I just don't think I'm quite ready to stop. Just working on basic percent. Could you be the new Draylo ? As Byrth pointed out on bg it's all fine and dandy pointing out how much xi makes them, but could the xi team make more money for the company producing other games/phone apps. i give my 2 cents nobody asked for. The point of the conference is not if they add a new expansion or close servers or anything like that. The point is if they want to keep this approach to xi or not. If SE approach is to release alluvion yorcia sets killing all our activities before it, good i switch to xiv with a clear vertical progression but with new and clear concepts. If they want to give us the true and real FFXI approach, aka challenging contents, grinding and long-lasting objectives and rewards, good i keep playing this. I don't want 75 era again but i want something more than spamming yorcia for a bunch of useless stones used on augments for gear i don't even have a use for because NO CONTENTS to use it for. Who plays this in 2015 is a veteran player, i don't see new recruits around. Give us what we want SE. Amen.
Someone say Freemium?
If it's an expansion, level cap increase, REM enhancement... fantastic.
Server merge? I can see arguments for and against. It it's the other options, what is the aftermath? If it's a shutdown, what are the chances of it going open source? Let people make a copy and let it limp on with volunteer devs? That being said, if it's possible to open source it, they could just sell the title to someone who would keep it going. I don't see a shutdown coming. F2P? Massive boom in multi-boxers. Suddenly everyone has 5 free accounts supporting their main, not ideally geared because that costs extra, but still a great help. Lower sub with some micropay element? Possible. Would have been easier to implement before the HP teleport thing or porter moogles, as the easier movement or extra storage would have been things people would be willing to pay 10 cents a time for. That would add up. Selling items would alienate too many people. They could set themselves up selling gil (but not buying, don't want an RMT surge). So long as they set the price right so that, say a relic costs $500, this may not break the game. The quantitative easing effect would promote inflation, but adjusting the price of extra gil accordingly could be a good way to regulate the in-game economy. I can see this working. I'd be happy to keep my subs at the current level for an extra ~2M a month, but with the option to opt out to the lower sub rate and farm your own gil. That's the only way I can see a change in the payment model working out. Overall, I think I'll stay optimistic for new developments. Guess I'm getting up at 5am tomorrow to watch the announcement. Will be a fantastic announcement the likes of which no one has ever seen!

None of these speculations make sense to begin with. Specially selling a final fantasy title to someone else and making it open source. Almost every player on ffxi do play with multi accounts as well so... I also don't see any micro trans going on. The game is not even designed for that it will require tremendous hardware and servers/ engine upgrades which is not going to happen. I can't think of any really viable way to do either, those were just the closest I could get. That's why my money is on an expansion or level increase. Sylph.Elwynbelwyn said: » Valefor.Prothescar said: » Will be a fantastic announcement the likes of which no one has ever seen! Shoes instead of hats from the next login campaign. but your headware is bigger than almost everyone else's. balance™ I can see a discount in sub fee and a cash shop for vanity stuff working if they want to go that route but big no from me to selling in game currencies or non-vanity equipment.
Race and face changes, cash shop-only trusts, lockstyle sets etc. would breath some fresh air into the game. There are already so many people with multiple accounts and nothing to stop them to pay few more dollars for costumes or whatever. They should also consider giving a big discount to people with both active ffxi and ffxiv accounts. I can't blame them if they finally decide to go with the flow of the market's current trends. Even WoW made it possible to buy play time from cash shop which is sellable in auction. How many MMOs are there which could keep a sub fee model? 3?... 4? FFXI, FFXIV and WoW is all I can count. As a recent example; ESO has already shown the white flag after all the hype and is about to go F2P. Considering the numbers going down hill though, it would be suicide to go full F2P. We are all left with veterans and honestly we wouldn't care about silly vanity stuff after a short while and the cash shop would most likely be deserted unless they gradually make stuff too cheap to worry about. tl;dr: monthly fee discount + vanity item shop; yes, please (if they really want that), F2P + P2W... hell, no. What about the floating flowers in a hill near the crag of Dem at Konschtat Highlands? That one is so bad, even the PS2 has them. SE registers two new trademarks
Doubt these are related XD Also this: SE Has a Box of Surprises Coming This Year "With respect to HD titles for 2015, our Japanese and Western studios are both bolstering their lineups considerably, so it’d be wise to keep an eye on them," he added. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ |
