R.I.P. Leonard Nimoy. Today is a sad day :(
By Ramyrez 2015-02-27 12:42:14
While his contributions can not be denied, I simply don't agree with the whole "sad day" bit. He was 83. Once you hit like 70, you're pretty much on borrowed time. With life expectancy ranging from 73-78 (depending on gender/location/circumstances), hitting 83 is a good long life. In Leonard's case, he lived long past it and had a fruitful career.
For someone who lived as long as he did and contributed as much as he did, you don't mourn their passing. You celebrate their memory and what they gave.
I for one will always remember him from my first encounter with his career; Galvatron's original voice in the 80's Transformers movie.
I think there's room to mourn the loss a little whilst celebrating the life.
I'll be going Irish wake on today in about three hours, as soon as I'm home from work.

Think you missed the point..
Anyway, this is terrible news. Star Trek has meant so much to so many people. As a Graphic Designer and Photographer myself, his work (Photography) has always been very inspiring. Anyone who is interested in portraiture or figure photography should check it out. Its very Rembrandt-esque and stands as a strong example of what most photographers strive for with regards to lighting and composition.
On a lighter note.. I had no idea he was that young. (83) I stand corrected .... either way, I'd still appreciate it if Hollywood stopped shitting on my childhood but unfortunately, that'll never happen. To be fair plans for the movie had started out to gather all of the original cast members and before they could secure everyone Harold Ramis passed away. That's when the original guy dropped out of the project and the new one came in with the whole all female cast thing.

Great actor, he will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and certainly his fans.
RIP. To say he hasn't earned it would be highly illogical...

Didn't he become, you know, irrelevant quite some time ago?
Not to discredit his performance in his younger years, but like, he hasn't exactly been popular as of late
I guess people notice you again when you die.

Sad to see him go :( Was a big part of my childhood. Watching the Star Trek episodes was awesome on it's own, but Spock made it just that extra bit more special.
Rest in peace, Mr, Nimoy. You shall never be forgotten.

No, he didn't become "irrelevant" quite some time ago.
Maybe to jackasses who only pay attention to mainstream media.
But he's been quite busy over the past decade as a quite accomplished photographer capturing not just art, but various aspects of the human condition.
And while many small minds will mock that, I think it's quite the accomplishment for a man that could have just ridden on his laurels and raked in the cash off a reputation earned 50 years ago.
Instead he chose to continue to work and soldier on through the arts for all the time since.
So...I guess what I'm saying is, "shut your *** mouth, you ignorant idiot".

I seem to have hit a nerve.
Look, he was for the most part lost in the ages to most people, but now that he is dead, people notice him again, for a brief time. I find it amusing how people are suddenly sad over this, a guy invisible to most people at this point, then he dies, and people suddenly care. Absurd.
Don't say I'm wrong. There are fans like you that..look at photographs or whatever, but let's not pretend a significant number of people did that.

Why is it in every memorandum thread, there is always one (sometimes more) ***(s) who have the *** it all up?
If you don't like the person who died, please be respectful at the very least and shut the *** up about your distaste for the person.
Think of it this way: How would you like for people to come to your funeral and say "Man, that Kenrusai is a real ***, glad he finally is dead, the world is a much better place!"
I was busy all day yesterday, so I didn't find out about this until this morning.
RIP Mr. Spock. You will be missed greatly!

Nimoy was an interesting man, it was a pleasure getting to watch his performances growing up.
I was oblivious to the origins of the LLAP hand gesture until I watched an interview he gave on Youtube.

It blew my mind to think that Star Trek is seen as the pinnacle of humanism, it's what most hope we could achieve as a people, but this symbol at its core is mystical. People didn't realize all this time they were giving each other a holy blessing. Makes me happy inside.

How does a human being with family, friends, fans the world over, and an active career going into his 80's strike you as irrelevant?
