Doesn't Treasury crap the bed and refuse to function when you have items with apostrophes in their names on your drop list? It always does for me.

Look at DaneBlood's list it has lots of examples of how to input an item with an apostrophe, xml is not the most fun for those unfamiliar with the syntax to manipulate so I understand the confusion.

Except that's exactly how it looked in my XMLs too, and the oh-so-wonderful config lib wasn't correctly parsing those entries on load; instead, it threw errors and ceased to function.

If you have time to talk down to your users, you have time to fix things.

no you just need to add it in via the add-on and the add-on will handle the apostrophes fine.
and avoid the race condition if you are multiboxing (as mentioned earlier in this post)

That was a very hostile attitude to a person that was trying to help you and did in no way call you out personally.

You are the only one in this conversation so far that has been using negative charged words and sarcasme.

In 2 post you have yet to provide example for you settings for anyone to help you correct your mistakes in it.

Maybe dont start out with the assumptions its everyone elses fault that you are having problems. it's really not a good starting attitude for learning.

They replied to me condescendingly. If that's not what you consider a personal callout, then your definition is wrong.

The only ones assuming anything are you and the one you're caping for. I converted it to use character-specific JSONs for lists instead of a single XML config file. Solved that and the multiboxing problem. It wasn't hard. Anyone could've done it. Yet I was the one who ended up having to, and I hate having to do other people's jobs for them.

Ah yes, the tired old "It's free, so you don't get to complain" chestnut. Here's another old one you should memorize: "If something's worth doing, it's worth doing right."

I'm not surprised you're resorting to exaggerated literalism, though. Any voluntary task that requires focused effort is a job, but I think you know that already.

Y'know, I had a whole spiel written out, but you're just an idiot. This has been around for years and apostrophes have been figured out; just scroll up. Many people use this addon and you're the only one who can't seem to figure it out. Check yourself.

Here's one for you: "If you don't have anything nice to say, keep your *** mouth shut."

All this anger is so misguided, you could easily offer criticism without being such an ***, which helps no one. If you've already solved the problem yourself, why are you berating the people trying to help? Just say thanks and move on, costs you nothing.

Imagine getting hostile to one of the incredible devs that freely distribute their work to us to make playing this 20+ year old game still enjoyable.

You should uninstall Windower and just contact SE support with any issues you have or QoL suggestions.

It's great that you have the basic programming skills required to customize an addon in the way that you wanted. However, you should keep in mind that Windower has many addons using their settings library, and any change to that library would break things for existing users. It is almost certainly not that they are not capable of implementing a new library, but that doing so would cause extra hassle for everyone who is already using the old one.

I get the impression that you're relatively young and you have a high opinion of yourself. You should step back and look at some of your older or worse projects; many of the people working on things like this have progressed over the years. This thread was started in 2015 (9 years ago). Windower and it's addons are not a source of income, and for many people it's probably not their only pet project either.

I know if I look at my code from 2015, much of which is still in use, I can find all sorts of little things to nitpick and things I could've done in a simpler or easier to use manner. That means that I have grown as a programmer, but it doesn't necessitate that I spend dozens of hours rewriting all of it. I am an adult with responsibilities, I don't have that kind of time.

Not a windower dev, never touched treasury, just trying to offer some perspective. You should step down from your high horse and try to visualize the entire situation, rather than fixating on a small mistake that you mistakenly believe only you have the insight to fix. Perhaps you could even have offered your solution to others, but I suspect your attitude would preclude you from being invited to work on a collaborative project anyway.

Hit the head on the nail.
Just see the few other post JeanneRenault has posted.
It's nothing but self glorification all the way, making up for things they cannot figure out how to get working.

JeanneRenault is not interesting in getting their things fixed, they are focused on blaming everyone else for their shortcomings. That why the simple things gets complicated for this person.

anyway, did somebody say there was a proper way to handle having this loaded when multiboxing? I knew people were having issues trying to save to it, was that just with send?

I just edit the settings file manually, its a lot easier and reduces the risk of the file blowing up.

Yup Simply reload the add-on before adding stuff to it

-- edit --
Removed the explanation as it made it unneeded complicated.
It's called a race condition.
