I hate to be this shallow, but at this point in RPG's, I am sick of reading dialog. I know it adds significant expense and complexity to a game this old, but it keeps me from being more interested in a lot of the side content available.
I don't mean Dialogue, I mean like you have x amount of Killing ***for 5 hours, then 1 hour of story, gets you to fall in love with the characters.
Then someone murders a character you spent 4 days leveling to 50, was a main character in your group, so you get sorta Vendetta mode and gun for the *** for the next 17 levels and utterly destroy him.
Stuff like that really gets me hooked into Games.

While I have a lot of time invested in my character, I don't feel the same kind of attachment to it as I did to characters in non-mmo FF games, just for the simple fact that he doesn't have a distinct personality. I find it hard to get attached to any NPC's in FFXI because of the written dialog. That didn't bother me a bit 10 or 15 years ago.
I've considered starting a new character and just running through missions and quests and staying away from endgame, but the thought of rereading thousands of pages of dialog just kills it.

In an MMO I agree, I meant more that as the reason I disliked FF13.

I'd like to see the ability to permanently purchase job traits with job points once certain jobs are leveled. It doesn't make sense that if you're a mnk forever, you suddenly forget how to punch when changing jobs, or how to dual wield after from nin or dnc to bst.

I would make it so you could pay with a credit card... without the 401 errors, etc.
That better not be a thing :/
I've not topped up crysta for months because I keep my monthly total due just under 2500 with my 2 accounts of characters. Then top up to 10k crysta when it's low. Paying by paypal through some 3rd party thing. (Ultimate Pay rings a bell?)
But it's due to be topped up this month I think.
*sweat*

You people could grow up, get a working debit card, and register it as your monthly payment option, and not mess with crystal, PayPal, or any of the other crap.

And I still say the best immediate improvement would be for SE to hire the Windower Devs and have them in charge of UI.

I would prefer SE could offer official suport to multiboxing.
That ive read, multiboxing isnt forbidden in others mmorpg. After all, its a win-win situation. Players can play their stuffs by their own, and SE can profit n-times and normally, players that maintain 2+ account are the players that last longer than any other.

Don't mind "the Snprphnx" the dude is just a TROLL when he wants to be, he is Harmless tho
and yes I agree with you Pantafernando, It is not that simple to Fix as ALOT of players do have a working Credit Card / Debit Card but Square Enix Bank is discriminating towards some players on some Odd basis.
Not sure what or why but It is 100% Square Enix Side of the deal in that
The Card works anywhere Except SQUARE ENIX !
even the Customer Support Admitted that it was "THEIR" BANK that was blocking the CARD to go through.
So Snprphnx can Stop his TROLLING and let those whom it concern Deal with this.

It's like a Platinum level Playstation achievement right there.
And yes. I know it is a POL/SE issue. They have habitually had serious problems with their payment dept. I know a few people that got double charged, complained to SE, and they did nothing, so they contacted their back for a refund over the double charge. They got the refund, and soon after, their account was banned for "issues with payment".

I just received it myself while using Firefox (version 33.0 in case it matters) for both of my accounts. I pulled up Chromium (version 39.0.2171.65), tried again using the same card, and it went through without a hitch. It may just be an issue they are having with certain web browsers, so try to pay for the game with a different one and see if that helps.
Lastly, in the event it makes a difference(might not but just in case), I was also using Xubuntu Linux 14.04 while buying crysta.

I still find it amusing that people are saying it's SE's bank, when they see nothing of the charge, they get their money from their 3rd party handler, it's between them and you, SE's bank gets their money from the handler.
I mean do people not know how these things work? seriously?
Bismarck.Snprphnx said: »You people could grow up, get a working debit card, and register it as your monthly payment option, and not mess with crystal, PayPal, or any of the other crap.
for the most part, but the paypal option was the best one when they first changed to the SE account page, as the other options would charge more, and paypal didn't allow that nonsense, was great.
Until they implemented paying with a card directly again, which works fine, except for a lot of these people, as apparently they have something screwed up, I'm betting on a screwed up address, something as simple as "dr" vs "Dr" vs "Dr." vs "Drive" would throw the thing off, if they don't match up between your billing and account address, etc.
Fortunately I've used the same billing address for years, so it never changes.
But can we stop see them bitching about their issues, so we can keep bitching about the game we still have a love/hate relationship with?
edit: inb4 somebody *** because "I" don't have a problem, you're right "I" don't have a problem, it's something that should be taken a note of, as I can still pay, flawlessly (as long as there's $ in my account).

- A Porter Slip for Porter Slips
- No more random augments, ever. Let me put points towards acquiring guaranteed augments. Any dev that suggests random junk again gets shipped off to an island gulag.
- Drastically cut down on the pointless chatter/prompts from NPCs. It takes NINE clicks just to get Ionis and 14-15 for a Remnants Permit, just to name a couple. I don't need a speech for every trivial thing.
- Turn the WotG instanced zones (Ruhotz Silvermines, Everbloom Hollow, and Ghoyu's Reverie) into regular zones. Always found it lame that they made these huge places (18 maps each) and only used them for a few missions and Meebles. Let us go spelunking!
Cerberus.Kodaijin said: »2. Create an increasingly difficult series of zones with no telepoints, homepoints, waypoints, or outposts after zoning into the initial zone.
I actually kinda like this. I always found the idea of some truly treacherous corner of the world that isn't so casually tread upon to be appealing and FFXI doesn't really have much like that right now. A sort of environment-as-enemy. XI has plenty of hazards and quirky mob mechanics, but they're often scattered and one-off. I want some areas that you'd need to really prepare for to get far, zones you actively trek through; not just the Sneak/Invis up in and stroll through ignoring everything. Put some of the danger and adventure back into exploring Vana'diel.
Call it "The Jagd" as a nod to XII/Tactics. A mapless frontier, sprawling zones like Grauberg, tiered like Marjami, intricate caverns underneath connecting various zones. Full of the myriad hazards found elsewhere in FFXI: common true aggro, patrolling NMs, roaming parties of mobs, environmental debuffs, the works. And to keep things fresh, changes in time/day/weather affecting behavior and terrain. Acquire survival KIs like we have already to access shortcuts, new entrances, etc.
Would be cool to see a community effort trying to decode the systems of such a place. I'd expand on this more if I thought there was any chance that SE would actually listen, haha.
I thought Ulbuka might've been like this, with its status as a "wild, untamed continent untouched for centuries," but it never really far enough with the idea and the areas ended up being fairly pedestrian corridors mostly. Granted, a whole expansion land couldn't be that player-unfriendly, so it'd probably be better served as some sort of loose endgame-type region. Western Ulbuka, go?

Hrm...
Hand wrote a list like this a couple years ago...
I will try and edit the short version. It may have some things that have happened since writing, not sure been sparsly playing since writing it.... And I just dug it out of the pile so here we go!
1. filter glow
2. ascension: lvl 100 gear ONE JOB ONLY (haha)
3. Compressed JSE ingame reskining option for swapping the classic 3 E/R/A. (back when space mattered)
4. asa/mcd/acp get all 3 types? meh
5. XIV and XI communications cross games. be neat to be able to at least chat with your sister LS while in either game
6. Merit's to unlock certain sub job abilities
7. More Lore!
8. Unlock exact ratios on level synced gear, all attributes too.
9. More official apps for tablet/smartphone use
10. Compress down R/E/M Weapons
but expand jobs to all, that can use those classes for the most part.
uggg... 26 pages, but I am not that crazy, my hand writing takes up mucho space on the page...
gonna skip to the job ideas...
starting with ninja it's my favorite!
NIN
Craft focus: alchemy and/or woodworking
Use those ammo's from sea to turn into throwing ammo, Put Ninja on the cross bow compressed REM along with THF
Nagi breaks off the katana trials and upgrades into a throwing weapon for BLU THF NIN DNC RUN? PUP?(double as an animator?)
Other two Katana's equipable by SAM, But none of that GK main hand katana off hand crapolski.
PUP
Craft focus: Choco digging/fishing/gathering
Non-combat bonus: Can deploy bot from a chocobo/resting spot severly reduced agro range roam around to gather materials from certain difficult areas for a limited time pluc cool down.
Non-combat bonus: special gathering frames
22 new frames that act like the 22 job categories we have.
The 1 frame that PUP would represent could be a relic type frame that can be built after collecting all of the other 22 job frames. The thing better look like a big bad machine of whoop *** though!
Give pup black belt and kicks!
DRG
Craft focus: leather/bone?
Custom naming?
Way more variety in wyvern models. Maybe an ability to equip different types?
hrm... didn't have much more than that... sorry DRGs >.<
RNG
Craft focus: woodworking/cooking
A decent close quarters WS
Maybe, maybe add them to dagger or axe class combinedRME weapon classes
Find some clever ways of creating /ra hunting games as well as logging sorts of activities disguised as questiness fun times!
BST
Craft focus: Cooking/fishing (lolforeveralone)
Relic Pet can be a badass half pheonix half chocobo perma pet. Rideable, but has to be bred/quested yourself for the serious stuff.
Able to breed chocobo's at faster rates and more precisely if job is set to 99 beast master.
Able to breed up custom pets through panktotratonidkit'sspelling, can become semi permanant pets, but when they die their card is on a 30~1hr cool down, so in the the mean time you would slap down a 2nd custom made pet from your collection as back up?
99 BST can ride any rental chocobo into dungeon's, they can dig/mine agro free but as soon as the BST try's to dismount, or the bird time's out you are autozoned to what ever entrance into that zone you came from.
SAM
Can use most katana class weapons, including the RMEcompressed class weapons. Unlock sub handing relic weapons stats and WSs
That's it aside from general goodies all around, have fun sams
SCH
Craft focus: Synergy (use up geodes please!)
Eh, SCH has gotten a defined role since writing so, moving on..
Oh ... add SCH to staff class compressedRME
side note: the staff and club class RME's should at least change some of the WS into buff *** spells instead, allowing these mages to take advantage of the MP they have instead of the typical 0TP.
THF
Craft focus: goldcraft(duh)/mining?
Loot ***!
Steal ability on R/E type sweet loot NMs will work as a force drop into party loot pool way of doubling a rarer drop that will usually only drop one per kill even with max TH?
Make TH dramatically more effective on coin/currency type drops for all content. Make TH help to smooth out the balance of Voidwatch coffers overall.
COR
craft focus: Alchemy Goldsmith/fishing
Gave RNG a form of TH why no booty for the pirate.
Give COR some way to boost Crest type items drop rates BC's KC's SKC's etc.. etc...
Give them a dagger or sword super weapon option? stay with guns
BLU
craft focus: boneworker/soul plate specialist
with the correct spells set transforms into various types of beastmen. Can be used as a way to create variety for team play to pass dungeon's etc. bypassing agro, deepens lore of beastmen culture by "infiltrating" their communities to allow for quest giving etc.
DNC
Give DNC the relic of black belts along with PUP and MNK
I think relic black belt should have a hidden effect, if you do not wear any weapon you have a powerful H2H bonus but way faster swings?
let DNC have the Nagi boomerang
BRD
craft focus: clothcraft? gardening (like old school gardening in MH)
dagger etc. for their ultimate weapon classes
Alliance wide songs
BRD and DNC should compliment each other for many goals.
side note: COR and THF should also compliment each other for certain goals
non-combat bonus: bard's should be able to change player's titles if requested by other players.
SMN
Craft focus: Goldsmithing Clothcraft Gardening
Makes elemental drops more abundant, geodes/crafting crystals etc.
Summons
Cat sith(treasure hunter) atmos (AoE insta win) Bahamut (Non elemental uber nuke) Pheonix (Alliance wide raise/rr)
DRK
Craft focus: Alchemy, bonecraft
give them crossbow class ultimate weapon.
JA: Martyr - Dark night get's significant poison like effect, cannot remove poison but can keep curing the DRK. AS long as the DRK stays alive the alliance members MATT and ATT power increase over time. once DRK dies the up ticks stop, but the buff lasts for as long as the DRK remains dead and in the alliance being buffed.
JA: Scourge - Alliance members get a mild poison effect, cannot be removed, but able to keep HP cured up. while active the DRK's Defense and enmity will continue to rise greatly until the 1st death of an alliance member. Remaining for 5 minutes after death.
sorry just a couple fun ideas, not much for the DRK's
WAR
Craft focus: Mining, Smithing
These guys should be the gilgamesh of the RME mashup world, having access to many classes. at least one ranged weapon class.
Not sure what WAR is lacking but I think I will take this moment to mention that all the jobs as they get upgrades to flattened JSE's and weapons, their lore and back stories hopefully can be maintained with a good amount of story building.
PLD
Craft focus: smithing shocobo
Give them staff access to ultimate's, but the staff WS should be changed to a magic type spell, so maybe some interesting play for PLDs
Aegis and Ochain combined
hell give them the club class super weapons too
Alliance based defensive abilities, positional strategies could be taken to other levels too.
Think of a boss that has parts in 3 different rooms, your alliance has to break into three teams, beat through a dungeon and then fight the thing from 3 different points on a map. Each team setup could have to focus on different strengths of job setups to beat such bosses. PLD tank leasd the middle, run tanked team takes the left path, ninja tanked team goes in from the back. Could be fun...
MNK
Craft focus: Clothcraft smithing
H2H ultimate weapons and black belt team up to get super awesomeery. While equipped at the same time base delay for the player becomes floored and the hand graphics change into just barehanded fists of fire! for MNK and PUP only!
RDM
craft focus: Smithing alchemy
Let them have access to the gun model class ultimate weapons
Allow them some abilities to cure/speed up timers for Team mate's JAs?
En-spell buffs work for their ranged attacks also
WHM
Craft focus: Cooking
Alliance wide AoE buffs, including protetra/shellra and bar spells.
Club master Weapon skills converted into spells
BLM
Craft focus Alchemy
Staff Master Weapon skills converted into spells
Make them very potent at synchronized casting type damage, magic bursts blah blah blah. Paper cannons go!
GEO (wasn't announced when I wrote these)
(originally a sch idea) AoE All Potions including some Raise item's etc.
Typical weapon's class access for super weapons..
maybe focus on synergy also? A unique sort of synergy oven could be their relic type of bell class weapon, almost like a perma luopon type thing?
Some things off the top of my head
RUN (wasn't announced when I wrote these down)
kinda drawing a blank right now, don't know much about these guys...
Now some other goodies:
Mog house "Vacation Properties"
New mog house has a patio that has a "cave" opening onto various types of zone/weather types for enhancing gardening, or being able to mine from your doorstep. depending on what region of vana'diel you choose to rent depends on what you may find there.
Maybe the plants from your garden are automatically "fertilized" by the regions elemental type. etc.
You will also be visited by some of the various pets that you have befriended on your adventures, did carbuncle just jump onto your chocobo's tail just now? who knows the kind of shenanigans your NPC pets may get into, the more the merrier!
Some of the simple gambling games etc, will now have a board game version for your mog house guests to play with you, maybe even some tetramaster's revival?
Airship fights, we want more! Maybe a type of airship voyage meant to be nothing more than the bibiki bay tours in the sky? Random popping mobs and a long scenic tour?
Allow for fishing some random fun mob/treasure/mini games within dynamis zones.
Also.... Let's allow for a few fishing spots with in the glorious sea zones from our CoP days?
11th anniversary surprise. Add a sixth race for playable characters, moogles! (do it this year!)
"Crafting Relics" in the spirit of the ever elusive ebisu, would be nice to see a few items meant strictly to make you more of a godly crafter for each category.
aaaaaaaaaannnndddddd, that is all for now, didn't expect it to take that long. Laugh if you must, some seem fun, some seem crazy, some of my ***seems to have been ganked, oh well. PEACE!
p.s. didn't forget any jobs did i?

I would definitely fix the 401 errors, 601 errors, the location issues for payment, and the 1-30 day blocks. I went to pay for a friend's account the other night and I couldn't get it to manually charge my card for ***. I ended up having to stock up on Crysta for their account.
By moogle magic you suddenly become the one in charge of pushing for content/story/mechanics to be created. Disregarding budgets, employee personal health and the mass playerbase who nitpicks every thing give an outline of a 12 month+ plan of what you want to accomplish and anything you want to deliver after. (so basically if the company had a large enough budget, what would you do)
