I'm curious, how does Grapevine work with Composure/Duration gear? Everything says it increases duration by 30 seconds, but is that before or after the other effects? I figure if it's before, then the other boosts would make it better than Sucellos's.

I heard Phalanx gear can be removed after the fact, is this true? :o
Phalanx+ gear only needs to be on during casting.

To my knowledge, the only existing Phalanx+ gear for RDM is Taeon augments(Max +3, using duskdim stones), and Merlinic/Chironic augments(Dark matter only, +5 max)

I've seen people talk about Coladas as though they can get Phalanx augments as well, but I can't find much in the way of information regarding augments on those swords.

Anyone have good CDC and Savage/Death Blossom/KotR sets? I know carmine is good for STR/MND, but what do we use for CDC? Taeon? That's it?

(As a murg user myself) i actually think with the existence of temper2 now mythic has been significantly devalued on rdm for pure dd.
If you're soloing you could also make a case for Excalibur *mainhand to creat double light Pretty sure offhand Excal is never a thing.

ItemSet 338130 All despair path B except head path D Cape augs: Str/AccAtt/WSD Other cape alternatives include Vespid, Phalangite, Laic or another Sucellos cape with even just the acc/att this slot before amb cape really varried based on how much attack you needed going vespid->phal->laic Switches for DeathBlossom Earring Moonshade -> tati+1 or vulcan's pearl depending on att. If you have madrigal on Kuwunga will win. If you don't wanna get an earring just for deathblossom here you can always just put on the mnd4 earring from the delve pair. Ring Ifrit+1 -> Rufescent Switches for Knights of Round Earring Moonshade -> Brutal Belt Prosilio+1 -> metalsinger **alternate: Grunfeld Can Brutal or Cessance replace Moonshade in all sets?
What about replacing it with a CDC Ambuscade cape (don't want to make 2-3 more capes for RDM/BLU/RUN just for other WS)? Also my CDC set: ItemSet 344170 Could I replace Ramuh+1 with Begrudging Ring or Apate ring for similar results? The more I think about it, the more I dislike Ambuscade cape because they take up so much inventory. For someone that plays more than 1 job. Having multiple capes for versatile jobs (like RDM or BLU) takes up a lot of inventory. For the sake of inventory and saving me from making more capes for RDM (at 3 atm), how necessary do you think a DEX+20, Atk/Acc+20, DW+10 cape is? I'm toying with the idea of changing DW to Crit rate for a CDC cape and just get DW on my Taeon pieces for TP. Hopefully they have a good melee set with RDM on it coming out soon. Shame we were left off of all the melee Escha sets except Despair and Carmine and the upcoming Ambuscade light armor. Offline

Moonshade (***tp bonus 250, att4) doesn't do anything for death blossom or Knights of Round. However, it is farrrrr better than anything else in the ear slots for both savage blade and CDC.
Honestly unless you play mageonry and never really plan on swinging a weapon, moonshade with tp bonus250 aug should be a high priority. For rings: If you are using a crit10 ambuscade cape, you should use begrudging/hetaroi For melee purposes the most useful cape overall is dex/aa/crit. (But make your mnd/macc one first!) Another quick easy upgrade to your CDC set is Yetshila in the ammo slot (nq, not possible to T1 hq the synth without kupo shield so +1 is very rare). I made my mnd and int capes already and just finished my first melee cape (DEX/Atk/Acc/DW). I'll change DW to crit and I'll only need 4 capes for RDM. Next month I'll make STR/Atk/Acc/WSD for SB/DB/KotR.
I didn't finish WotG so I'll make the TP earring since I use 3 melee capable jobs that could benefit from it and the refresh is easily replaceable. Also working on my DT set. ItemSet 342279 Can swap in Twilight Torque, Lithelimb Cap, Battlecast Gaiters, Umuthi Gloves, augmented Dark Ring, Earth/Terra's Staff, Genbu/Genmei shield, Engulfed Cape, Umbra cape, and Merlinic pieces with DT. The sword isn't figured into it. I just put it there because it works well with the shield. The set caps MDT with the shield but without any augments from Chironic. It is missing 10 PDT to cap though. If you get 12 PDT or DT from Chironic, you can drop Genmei for Ethereal. This could change with the upcoming Ambuscade armor (could have PDT, MDT or DT). I haven't tried it yet so I'm looking for anyone with experience. Has anyone tanked Apex crabs/fish on RDM? I want to get out and CP but I'm not sure what role I want to fill. I have Excal 119-3 and a good offering of DD/tankish gear. I was thinking either RDM/PLD to flash tank or RDM/WAR to TP for SC.
Has anyone had success with a "chance to block" set? Yep RDM are very good in nuke with strong nuke set, or you can go /dnc with PLD to create SC too (can work with RUN or NIN too) or just as heal buff/debuff, in any case as rdm you can fit any spot in apex PT.

In Apex parties going /NIN, spamming Sanguine Blade, & MBing as much as possible, is quite fun. Sanguine doesn't interrupt SCs making the spam of 10k+ WSs quite the boost to your DMG whilst not inconveniencing your party.

Use two Malevolence's and you can Energy Drain your MP back while MBing Tier V's. RDM doesn't get Mykr nor Aspir II / III so MP will become an issue if your party is remotely competent. Malevolence Magic Skill +201 MAB +44 MACC +35 INT +10 MDMG +118 Fast Cast +5 Two of them is pretty vicious. |
