So 53? I remember saying 53 or 54. So what do I win?

The analysts predicted 53-54. They win a prize.

Actually it's 54. AK and LA will be Republican. That's pretty solid, unless of course the Dems can summon enough dead voters for the recount.

2016 looks pretty bad for Dems already.

Stick with the analysts predictions if you want to sound smart.

The seats up for grabs and voting patterns of the demographics favors the Democrats in the 2016 if you completely exclude anything that happens in the next 2 years. At this point, it would be stupid to bet against them, especially considering how much can happen in 2 years politically.

You're understating the ultimate wet blanket of Obama's finger to the country has on liberal voter enthusiasm. A fresh example isn't even a week old at this point. Counting on the first women pres ever is putting all your eggs in one basket. Hillary is your the only viable candidate at this point. I think faith in her is severely "oversold". No battleground state candidate the Clinton's stumped for ended up winning. She isn't as popular as you think she is.

I wasn't talking about president, obviously, and I couldn't care any less about hillary or obama in relation to 2016. Can we focus on getting some ***fixed before we start the next campaign cycle?
No we can't, not with a socialist in the oval office.
shh...you can't say the "s" word anymore, before they take you away, like they did to Amand....

Seriously, your counter to that is "veiled racism"?

Maybe this hasn't gone through your thick skull, but the reason why Republicans do not like the president is because his policies are detrimental to this nation, not because of the color of his skin.

"Veiled racism" is just saying you have nothing to go by anymore.

When you manage to come up with a real reason why you hate Obama the way you do, people will stop calling you a racist, because the reasons you give are complete hogwash. He's not a socialist, the economy has improved (even in spite of his policies), ACA hasn't put everyone out of work, etc etc etc. He's not a Kenyan or a Muslim, Solyndra/Benghazi/IRS aren't the apocalypse... You sound like a clown dancing around the subject without providing ANY ACTUAL reason. So yeah, you hate a black guy for "reasons" that you can't quantify, but it's totally not because he's black.

I've never called him a Muslim or a Kenyan, but even if I did argue that he wasn't a christian or American (as he claims to be) then that wouldn't even be racist.

The economy has improved in spite of his policies, thanks to entrepreneurs who continue to strive. The ACA has made thousands or even millions of people entrapped by part time only work, while taxing them for being in such a position.

I have given plenty of quantifiable reasons, Stimulus/Solyndra/IRS/benghazi/ACA/Russian reset/Isis/Ebola/If you disagre with me then you're racist etc etc etc. You just refuse to see anything else beyond his skin color. That makes YOU the racist bud, not me.

The department of labor keeps metrics that invalidate your claims about ACA, the stimulus saved the economy from a literal meltdown, solyndra/IRS/Benghazi aren't a thing. Russia/ISIS he's handled poorly, you were actually making some kind of case until you said Ebola... Seriously?

I pay attention to actual metrics, not opinion news commentary and doomsday predictions. Would you like to cite some kind of evidence that any particular policy has had a detrimental effect on the country?

Its been a very fun read, thanks guys. Seems like the main issues R's have is an issue with is abuse of the welfare/social aspect of the government. My first question is if its such a big deal(it is imo), what have previous R's done to fix said issue?

Im only 26, so I cant really recall too much of the bush regime. Was he active in thwarting the abuse? I seem to only remember tax cuts.

I find great amusement in the back and for and I dont really have a side because both sides make good points. In this period I think I would be called a moderate?

I dont think by electing a R or a D we could wave a magic wand and fix the issues in our country. Things should be done in phases. I for one think government officials make too much money. 174k per year(93mil) in congress alone. A 50% pay cut would give us more money to allocate to more important causes.

School is extremely expensive. A person close to me paid 100k for 4 years of school and owes 27k in loans. Depending what you go for, thats a lot to pay off if you are then stuck in retail after school is over. We should have higher learning for free or at an lower price. Other countries do it and I dont see their economies failing.(Admittedly, I dont know this as fact. I just see headlines sometimes of what germany or the uk are doing.)

The welfare system: Id like to see funding re allocated. Instead of giving people money to do whatever with, hire more auditors to verify that people actually need assistance. Able bodied people who are audited and found as abusers would be forced back into the workforce, thus pushing the economy forward.

Still on welfare, this may sound a little extreme, but I feel like we should institute ration like meals for people on welfare. Perhaps they shouldnt eat like royalty. Perhaps if they had food that would only serve as a means of survival they would be motivated work out of their situation to afford lavish foods.

I work a union job. There are some people I work with who tell me, "hey kid, slow down! we get paid by the hour." I feel as though those people shouldnt have the privilege of working where I work and getting such great benefits. I actually care about our operation, Ill work as hard and fast as I like. That said, I feel that we(union workers) shouldnt be exempt from regular evaluations. It would motivate people to continue working hard for the good of the company we are loyal to. Not to line our own pockets by working slow to clock more hours. Sorry for the wall of text. I had to get that off my chest.

Unemployment rate went from ~10% to 5.8%, I'd say it helped a lot.
Then why has the employment participation rate dropped so much since 2010?

Well Zellc, I'm glad you asked. You see any and all of our efforts have been misconstrued and misrepresented as "racist" and "evil" and "trying to kill old people and starve children" with the majority of main stream press towing that line.

So basically rather than make cuts we have been trying to halt the growth of big government and it's impact on our daily lives, however unsuccessfully.

It would take many hours to explain all the subtleties... but perhaps you can glean a couple of them out of the horse hockey we pitch around in here

I love how anything that isn't "conservative" media like Rush or FOX is considered liberal. Also, I don't watch TV, I don't listen to talk radio, I don't follow any major media outlet. I can't be parroting anyone, and I can't help it if you view facts as liberal.
