Democrats Republicans in IL never !
ftfy.
Chicago is a breeding ground of corruption and government control, of course it's the Liberal Holy Land. Corrpution isn't just for the liberals... the conservatives take just as much a part in it... if you don't think so then you've certainly found a way to delude yourself right into the party line...
That's the kind of crap people say to justify their apathy. No. It's a response to someone claiming that corruption makes something a liberal holy land... It's more like a politicians holy land...
If you think that it's solely a partisan issue then you're deluding yourself...
I'm also not saying that nothing should be done about it... Voter fraud is almost entirely democrat, and is the majority reason for the resistance to Voter ID. Sorry, but what?
Voter fraud is not a democrat-majority event. Both sides have an equal blame in this.
Unless you want to back up your statement with evidence that voter fraud is mainly a democrat ploy. Broadly stating that the resistance for voter ID is not a good excuse.
While voter ID laws will help prevent fraud, opposition of voter ID is not the same as saying that the opposition endorses fraud.
No of course not, "Voter ID" is obviously racist.

No of course not, "Voter ID" is obviously racist. Let them make their excuses against voter ID laws. It doesn't mean that they are right.
But it's not a democrat-majority issue.

Thing is they usually are tested and calibrated, ***happens. Right, and if the errors are still happening, the either the people doing the tests are grossly incompetent or voter fraud is happening.
So, which is it? Without analyzing, we have no way of knowing.

So, which is it? Without analyzing, we have no way of knowing. True, but those are the only two answers.
If your only job is to make sure the machines are working, and they don't when it comes time for them to perform, doesn't that mean that you either don't know what you are doing or purposefully made them defective?

Voter fraud is almost entirely non-existant and the majority reason for the Voter ID is to prevent legitimate voters (minorities) from being able to vote, also to waste time and money, from the party that brought you "fiscal responsibility." ftfy

Not really, machines break, they are subject to human and mechanical failure, you never had something DOA? or break after a few hours of proper use?
Dude there's several people on this forum that make a living (so have I at times) for technology not working right, you're just bitching to *** now, as we have no way of knowing of what happened with that one machine, but going off that it was one machine we can safely assert that it's not a problem.

I don't mind voter-ID laws being passed... What does bother me is voter ID laws attempting to be passed 5 seconds (exaggeration) before the voting begins when you know full well it would affect one demographic at a greater rate than another.
If it is such an important issue then why wait so long to make an issue of it? Why not focus on that well before the voting period is about to start. If people are given the proper amount of notice and time to go and get a valid ID then I personally don't see a problem with it.

Then there was a widespread fraud that involves the governor, hundreds of workers, and the Supreme Court.

Granted I also think that an extra amount of scrutiny is desired when it comes to this stuff but just because it went wrong doesn't mean it's either incompetence or voter fraud... If it is either then we really need to do something about it immediately.

If that was the case you mean.
When these machines were in service for several hours, and on the first day of early voting, and then taken off the service when somebody else noticed that their votes weren't being counted, that doesn't raise any questions for you, doesn't it?
Again, where were the controls and tests to prevent this from happening? Are you saying that it's just coincidence that several machines in several different counties just all happen to have the same glitch at the same time for the same reasons?

I can't believe how many people are defending gross incompetence at best.

software was surely finalized and sent to all machines in the same format, there's no reason for vote selection to be associated with anything other than the current candidate list and the coordinates input
bad calibration can cause unexpected results, but given it was multiple machines acting in the same way i don't think it's fair to say that it's a likely cause
if really really really really reaching for a way to assume it's not fraud, is there a video? it's possible it's just barely off, not enough to give any legitimate voter trouble but enough that this guy could complain about it by pushing near the edge of one candidate to get the other

Or we just realize that ***breaks, and we're too lazy to give a *** about it. Do manual ballots if it worries you so.

wait since when was it more than just the one machine?

it means nothing to me, one puppet is the same as the next and a few stray machines are unlikely to matter in a heavily democrat area to begin with
you guys are still reaching

wait since when was it more than just the one machine? It spanned across at least 4 different counties, including the 2 that makes up Chicago.
So, I believe it's safe to assume that this is more than one machine....
Several counties in Illinois, including Cook and DuPage Counties that encompasses Chicago, the voting machines for early voting changes any and all Republican cast votes to Democrat.
Source
Quote: CHICAGO — Early voting in Illinois got off to a rocky start Monday, as votes being cast for Republican candidates were transformed into votes for Democrats.
Republican state representative candidate Jim Moynihan went to vote Monday at the Schaumburg Public Library.
“I tried to cast a vote for myself and instead it cast the vote for my opponent,” Moynihan said. “You could imagine my surprise as the same thing happened with a number of races when I tried to vote for a Republican and the machine registered a vote for a Democrat.”
The conservative website Illinois Review reported that “While using a touch screen voting machine in Schaumburg, Moynihan voted for several races on the ballot, only to find that whenever he voted for a Republican candidate, the machine registered the vote for a Democrat in the same race. He notified the election judge at his polling place and demonstrated that it continued to cast a vote for the opposing candidate’s party. Moynihan was eventually allowed to vote for Republican candidates, including his own race.
Moynihan offered this gracious lesson to his followers on Twitter: “Be careful when you vote in Illinois. Make sure you take the time to check your votes before submitting.”
Cook County Board of Elections Deputy Communications Director Jim Scalzitti, told Illinois Watchdog, the machine was taken out of service and tested.
“This was a calibration error of the touch-screen on the machine,” Scalzitti said. “When Mr. Moynihan used the touch-screen, it improperly assigned his votes due to improper calibration.”
I guess that they forgot to switch it back from the last election.
Notice that they change all Republican votes to Democrat, but not the other way around? And blame it on "calibration error" which wouldn't explain why it's only affecting one side and not the other....
(sidenote: I tried to find this story in other news sources, but none are reporting this, go figure)
