...That's my point. You can't control your kid's every move (and that imo isn't good parenting anyway). So I think a mother feeling a controlled environment (like a toy store) should be free of what she feels is inappropriate so her kids can enjoy their time there is fair enough.

You can pay attention and still miss some things... what happens when your kids go out to play at a friends house? When you go to sleep thinking that the kids are still in bed? What if other parents are lax in their parenting and when your kid goes to school other kids are talking about it?

Whether you think so or not a parent can only do or be there so much unless you confine your kid to a bedroom... and I think we all know how we feel about that.
More often than not, overprotective helicopter parents hovering over their child's lives are actually being counterproductive in the long-term, as the kid generally will rebel and do things that the parent doesn't want, just to hurt them.

In other words, the over-protectiveness mostly will create the very thing the parent doesn't want to happen to their child.

A great parent prepares PowerPoint slides on every potential pitfall and does a course after dinner. That way you bond and get to explain how the world works.

Tonight honey, we're going to do pain medication just to explain to you why this ***will literally end you. Then we'll go down to the local strip joint and examine how strippers can also literally end you.

I want a 10 page report by next Monday on your thoughts.

I guess the slide warning parents of the horrors of scrambly Skinemax is antiquated?

Like people can still get scrambly Skinemax, thanks to digital!

I picked the worse looking .ppt file online on purpose, this one would have had over half of the forum burst in flames by the 2nd slide! Shouldn't have that happen.....

Son and/or Daughter. Skinimax? Really? I'm disappointed you resorted to such antiquated ways of exploring sexuality when I'm paying good money in this house for internet. Real Sex is so 1999.

You're grounded, for being an idiot. Any son and/or daughter of mine would have been torrenting porn and viewing the millions of free videos out there. What's next? Playboys under the bed? VCR cassettes with the title sharpie'd out? Nudes tucked between the Bible?

Isn't there a better way to say that, instead of going full force attack-dog mode on him?

Half-assed [+]. We have our "secret" hide-out, and it definitely isn't P&R.

To gain entrance you must invoke the spirit of Uncle Porkchop, harness the metaphorical hornets, and ponder the conundrum of 'The Saga of Stinkbombfrige'. Quality winter coat inquiries for tots are welcome, and knowing the ratio of chamomile tea to water for soothing colds and teething is a bonus.

Gardening and DIY are occasionally discussed also.

It might be boring to you anyway.

Well, this thread is now no longer pointless. Might as well change it to "What do you drink - Nonalcoholic Beverage Edition!"

By caving to her demands, TRU has set a dangerous precedent. Namely, ,that they ultimately don't care about the needs of their customers or their own financial bottom line and that they'll be willing to cave in to similar demands in the future.

I think they have sent the message that the DO care about their customers and the products they sell.

I think parents should watch Breaking Bad with their kids. It is a great example of how being involved with drugs completely ruins your life and the lives of every single person involved.

How in the hell is that bad parenting?

It's more like a bad way to make a point on feminism. A very bad way of doing that.

The execution was disgraceful. Yeah, explain to us what this has to do with parenting again? Or is this just another attempt to take a dig at social issue completely removed from what's being discussed?
