Bill Clinton was paid 50 million in speaking fees by the state department during Hillary's tenure.

That's more than 4 appearances a month for the 4 years Hillary was secretary of state at an average of 225k a pop (4+ times the annual household income).

Ethics don't matter if we can elect the first woman pres!

You'd think he'd understand supply and demand in this instance. Former presidents demand a high speaking fee, and various places supply it because prestige of former presidents speaking at their event.

Edit: And if you think rich people aren't interseted in hearing the speech of a man who held the highest office in the free world, cheated on his wife while in it, got off, the got off scott free, then managed to stay married and maintain a good public perception despite all kinds of shady ***in his financial past and present to boot...man.

Now that I've typed it all out, I'm staggered he doesn't command seven figures per gig. He could probably get it. Many rich people LUST for that kind of thing.

I think nausi is just desperate to give us a daily update on the Clintons, we know he doesn't understand anything.

I guess vic doesn't see it as a problem to have the secretary of state funnel state department (public) money to her husband (and thus herself).

Nothing to see here.

There has never been anything to see in your posts nausi. You are once again completely delusional, the state department was not paying Clinton for his appearances, nowhere in your article does it state that. They simply approved his appearances as there was no reason not to. None of that money was public, none of it was paid by the state dept.

Except thats not even what happened... I mean, not even the article you linked is saying that... What they were alleging is that a) the Clinton's have been bought and paid for by certain entities and b) that they strained the bounds of ethics by green lighting some of the speeches he gave and was paid for such as Barclays who was under federal investigation for violationg sanctions against Iran and the like...

They also mocked the clintons for the comment previously about how they have struggled financially as government employees.

It still baffles me that you can call out anyone else for lack of reading comprehension when you do stuff like this.

Nausi's link:

Quote:
Those are bad enough, but it gets worse. The UAE paid Bill $600,000 for an appearance in 2011, which seems highly problematic in the context of ethics, as his wife was at the time in charge of US diplomacy. Is it customary for other nations to stick cash into the family pocket of a Secretary of State? How did that get past the “ethics” review at State?

If there is one I hope it does turn up... until then please try to actually read the articles you post before going on a rant about something that didn't happen...

No he doesn't.

Ken Starr is now a professor at Pepperdine University. He was once under consideration for the Supreme court. Quite the come down.

Supreme Court appointments are for life.

I've wanted that gig since I was like 14.

Except, while I could handle law school, I don't think I could handle the cutthroat world of politics. I'm too honest.

perhaps "felt" in the past tense would have been a better choice of words... he thought he was going to unravel whitewater and bust open the arkansas mafia... and ended up getting bill's law license suspended for five years for lying about monica.
