You know, while not convinced in any way of his divinity, I really kinda dig that Jesus guy.

Mainstream Christianity gives Jesus a bad name, methinks. When you take the religion out of Christ's teachings, even atheists tend to agree with them.

Christianity is much like FFXIV.

1.0 God was a bloodthirsty jerk that didn't get many subscribers. Hardcores sang praises but the reviews were pretty bad and no one really wanted to associate with him. Turning people into pillars of salt, unleashing disasters and sending followers on a wild goose chase was far too much to ask in an era where ancestor worship and local deities were one idol away. It really felt like God hated his playerbase. Even 1.0s shock value content like sending shebears to rip people to pieces and being able to keep slaves only held peoples attention for so long.

Finally, the devs decided to just reboot. A grand prophecy was put into place and the countdown for A God Reborn began. Hardcores hated it but a new generation sat excitedly waiting to see if God could recover from such a setback.

2.0 God was far more forgiving but still can't shake some of his 1.0 mechanics. Mainly the table flipping and bringing a sword parts. Overall more polished, welcoming to casuals and balanced, this relaunch saw God become an international phenomenon as people really enjoyed the idea of deescalating conflict, caring about others, helping out newbies and noble self-sacrifice.

I'm really not even sure it's "mainstream" Christianity as much as a very, very, very vocal and visible group. A large number, to be sure, but I wouldn't call them a majority given the amount of people I know who identify as "Christian" but don't say peep about it except on actual religious holidays and the like.

Even the actual men of the cloth I know are decidely more of the "follow Jesus' teachings, not Old Testament allegory (even the priests!)" variety...as that tends to be the way to help people live in peace, understanding, and tolerance.

But there are many very loud people out there who would prefer to use the Bible to justify their own irrational hatreds, or to pander to those with those hatreds.

It's almost *coughsexactlycoughs* like the whole thing is allegorical and just a bunch of good ideas about how to live, packaged in a digestable fashion to the people of the time!

...then you have the hardcores playing XI and condemning XIV and WoW as pretenders not deserving of their wild devotion and taking offence at the suggest other MMOs have anything to offer, and lashing out violently at the suggestion we move on...

...

...

This analogy would work a lot better if Islam came before Christianity.

XI was pagan worship.

A complete *** mess that worked somehow. Mainly because the other options were equally disorganized. The Gods exist in an abusive relationship with their playerbase and most people never heard about the game unless you played it. For those that were part of the experience, you either stuck it out and endured disaster after disaster or became deeply ingrained in the culture, learning to enjoy the whimsy of your overlords.

In retrospect there is a noble savagery to the whole thing. Something that should be preserved for modernity but largely the experience came down to raping and pillaging other people for Ebodies and 35s.

Well at least some people are looking for solutions rather than problems or letting problems get worse.

Quote:
The Russian government could consider removing Greece, Hungary and Cyprus from its ban on most Western food imports, Russian Agriculture Minister Nikolai Fyodorov was quoted as saying on Tuesday.

Russia's ban, which should run until early August, was imposed in retaliation to Western sanctions on Russia over Moscow's role in the Ukraine crisis.

"The list of countries has been determined by the order of the Russian president and in this context we, the government, may have proposals in light of ... relations with certain countries, (and) may have proposals on removing some countries from this list," TASS news agency quoted Fyodorov as saying.

He added that the government had considered initiatives related to food imports from "Greece, Hungary, Cyprus".

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is due to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Wednesday. However, any agreement on removing Greece from the list of banned countries is unlikely to be reached during this visit, Fyodorov said.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters later on Tuesday that the food ban was likely to be discussed during talks with Greek officials on Wednesday.

"We see a decline in agriculture trade ... One can assume that this issue will be raised somehow, certainly," Peskov said, when asked if Russia could agree to remove Greece from the banned countries' list after Wednesday's talks.

Russia banned about $9 billion worth of imports of fruit, vegetables, meat, poultry, fish and dairy from the European Union and some other countries in early August of 2014.

Fyodorov said a tax on Russian wheat exports, currently set until June 30, would not be removed ahead of schedule.

The final decision on its possible extension beyond July 1 is expected in May or June when the prospects for this year's grain crop become clearer, he was quoted as saying.

The agriculture ministry's forecast for a grain crop of up to 100 million tonnes this year is unchanged, Fyodorov said, adding that between 10 percent and 12 percent of winter grains were lost during winter.
Russia may consider lifting food ban from Greece, Hungary, Cyprus

Also expect to see more talk on Greece changing whom its creditor is in the future.

So blackpeoplemeet.com can't discriminate against white people because white people are the majority?

In other words only white people can be racist.

Did I say anything about racism? What I did say was that most dating websites are catered to a white audience. Because whites are the majority in America. Trufax. It makes it difficult to navigate if you're looking for say... a Hindu, black, gay or Asian individual to date.

So the glorious free market came up with websites that cater to specific races. Nothing racist. A niche matching site. A way of differentiating themselves from titans like Match and OKC.

But hey, what do I know about basic business. It's all about racism!

There we go, it isn't racism to make a blacks only dating website when every other website has so many white people on it.
You're allowed to make a profile on any dating site - black, gay, muslim, farmers, whatever. I have one up on oppressedstraightwhitechristians.com (I get a LOT of hits).

Russian hacked into the white house I bet Chaosx is behind this !

http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-29817644

A White House computer network has been breached by hackers, it has been reported.

The unclassified Executive Office of the President network was attacked, according to the Washington Post.

US authorities are reported to be investigating the breach, which was reported to officials by an ally of the US, sources said.

White House officials believe the attack was state-sponsored but are not saying what - if any - data was taken.

In a statement to the AFP news agency, the White House said "some elements of the unclassified network" had been affected.

A White House official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the Washington Post: "In the course of assessing recent threats, we identified activity of concern on the unclassified EOP network.

"Any such activity is something we take very seriously. In this case, we took immediate measures to evaluate and mitigate the activity.
'State-sponsored'

"Certainly, a variety of actors find our networks to be attractive targets and seek access to sensitive information. We are still assessing the activity of concern."

The source said the attack was consistent with a state-sponsored effort and Russia is thought by the US government to be one of the most likely threats.

"On a regular basis, there are bad actors out there who are attempting to achieve intrusions into our system," a second White House official told the Washington Post.

"This is a constant battle for the government and our sensitive government computer systems, so it's always a concern for us that individuals are trying to compromise systems and get access to our networks."

The Post quoted its sources as saying that the attack was discovered two-to-three weeks ago. Some White House staff were reportedly told to change their passwords and there was some disruption to network services.

In a statement given to Agence France-Presse, a White House official said the Executive Office of the President received daily alerts concerning numerous possible cyber threats.

In the course of addressing the breach, some White House users were temporarily disconnected from the network.

"Our computers and systems have not been damaged, though some elements of the unclassified network have been affected. The temporary outages and loss of connectivity for our users is solely the result of measures we have taken to defend our networks," the official said.

The US's National Security Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation and Security Service were reportedly investigating.

Requests for comment were referred to the Department for Homeland Security, a spokesman for which was not immediately available. A White House spokesman has not responded to the BBC's request for comment.

I've got things to do tonight, this isn't going to change anyone's mind and a non-profit, non-partisan source is clearly a liberal hoax so I doubt anyone will even read this, but I'll just leave this here and if you guys with hard-ons for massive corporate control of America want to keep circle-jerking, be my guest.

Right to Work Issues

Quote:
Misleadingly named right-to-work (RTW) laws do not, as some unfamiliar with the term may assume, entail any guarantee of employment for people ready and willing to go to work. Rather, by making it harder for workers’ organizations to sustain themselves financially, state RTW laws aim to undermine unions’ bargaining strength. Because RTW laws lower wages and benefits, weaken workplace protections, and decrease the likelihood that employers will be required to negotiate with their employees, they are advanced as a strategy for attracting new businesses to a state. But EPI research shows that RTW laws do not have any positive impact on job growth.

I would love to see a law that specifically addresses this.

European Parliament President Martin Schulz warned Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras not to break with the European Union line on sanctions toward Russia during a visit to Moscow planned for Wednesday.

"Greece demands and gets a lot of solidarity from the EU. We can therefore also ask for solidarity from Greece and for this solidarity not to be ended unilaterally by pulling out of joint measures," Schulz told regional German newspaper Muenchner Merkur in an interview to be published on Wednesday.

Schulz said he and others had made this clear to the left-wing Tsipras in several discussions, adding: "He should base his actions in Moscow on that. The EU expects that from him as the head of government of an EU member state."

The 28-nation EU slapped sanctions on Moscow over its perceived support for pro-Russian separatist forces in Ukraine.

Tsipras's government has said it will not seek aid from Moscow during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but has so far failed to reach a deal with its EU/IMF creditors to unlock fresh funds.

Schulz also criticized a Greek demand for Germany to pay 278.7 billion euros in reparations over the Nazi occupation of Greece during World War Two.

"I think it's counterproductive to mix these emotionally charged issues with the current financial crisis in Greece," he said, adding he shared Berlin's opinion that the reparations issue had already been dealt with politically and legally.

Germany's economy minister branded Greece's reparations demand as "stupid" on Tuesday, while the German opposition said Berlin should repay a forced loan dating from the Nazi occupation.

Here we go again...

Quote:
A white South Carolina police officer was charged with murder on Tuesday after a video showed him shooting eight times at the back of a 50-year-old black man who was running away.

North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey said state investigators decided to charge officer Michael Slager, 33, with the murder of Walter Scott after they viewed the video of the incident, which followed a traffic stop on Saturday morning.

The FBI and U.S. Justice Department have begun a separate investigation.

"When you're wrong, you're wrong," Summey told reporters. "If you make a bad decision, I don't care if you're behind the shield or just a citizen on the street, you have to live by that decision."

The incident began after Scott was pulled over for a broken brake light, police said.

A video of the encounter published by the New York Times shows a brief scuffle between Slager and Scott before the latter begins running away.

The video, apparently recorded by a bystander, shows the officer firing eight shots at Scott as he runs away. Scott then slumps facedown onto the grass.

A police incident report says that Slager, who joined the department in 2009, told other officers Scott had taken his stun gun. In the video, Scott does not appear to be armed while fleeing from Slager.
