Don't let a false rape accusation get you down kids. There are plenty of rapes that go unsolved. We must for the good of the country appoint a rape czar !

I nominate Fonewear. I can't think of anybody who would take the position more seriously.

Meet Mick Dodge. Mick has spent 25 years living away from civilization entirely, living off of the land in a rainforest. Mick is a former marine who left his 9-5 job as a heavy equipment mechanic at Fort Lewis to take up an alternative lifestyle.

“That’s my real passion,” says Dodge.

Dodge is a native of the Hoh Rainforest, which is located on the Olympic Peninsula of western Washington State. His great-grandparents originally settled the area. Dodge grew up to travel around the world and become a huge fitness freak.

At 62 years old, Dodge doesn’t have time for any fancy gym, or even society. His gym is the great outdoors. He calls it the Earth Gym, kind of a YMCA in the forest. Dodge spends his days and nights in the forest. He wears no shoes, and simply walks barefoot through streams and between trees. The reason he walks with no shoes is because his feet hurt.

“My feet hurt. They hurt so bad that I could barely walk and I had always used my walk and run to handle the stress of modern living. The Hoh is home for me. So I went home to heal my feet.”

“The results came quickly. Not only were my feet healing, but my back pain, neck pain and most of all my heart pain disappeared, and in no time at all I was back into a dead run, stepping out of the sedentary, stressed, sedated and secured living of the modern world. I was dancing as the fire, running as the wind, strengthening as the stone and flowing as the water within, by the simple act of touching with my bare soles and allowing the Earth to teach.”

Of course, not wearing shoes hasn’t always worked out for him. On three separate occasions, he’s injured his feet. Once while running in the early forest, he almost lost his toes to frostbite. That taught him a lesson. “Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.” Sometimes he wears some knee-high buffalo skin boots with elk horn buttons. What a fella!

Dodge is a practical kind of naturalist and it helps him survive. In the wet climate, he wears plastic garments to protect from the rain. “The art of living out here is the art of staying dry,” he said. He also eats pretty much whatever he comes across.

“I am an omnivore, able to eat a wide variety of food, which also means that I learned how to become a scavenger and allowed the hunger in my belly to guide me into discovering all kinds of food. When a cougar kills an elk, the entire forest moves in to eat. So I do the same,” he said. “But there is one highly spiritual food that I try to maintain in my stashes and storage places and that is chocolate-chip cookies. My grandmothers got me hooked on them.”

His lifestyle may make him seem like some kind of crazy forest hermit, but he’s hardly in isolation. He spends his time with a community of mountain dwellers. He even gets the occasional girlfriend. “On my journey, I have formed so many wonderful connections with women, formed strong brother-and-sister relationships with them,” he said. “I may not be able to figure out what they are always talking about. But if their soles are touching the earth, I am more able to figure it out.”

Dodge doesn’t miss civilization, but he doesn’t shun it either. “There is no way to get away from it. So I developed a physical fitness practice in how to step in and out of it, stepping out of the walls, machines, electronics, social babble for a while, ground back into the natural flow of the land, and then go back in.”

Dodge’s life is being covered in a new National Geographic Channel series called The Legend of Mick Dodge. The show focuses on all his adventures in the mountains.

Dodge is an interesting cat. He’s connected with nature, has a sense of humor, and lacks the self-righteousness you get with the off-grid naturalist types. It’s pretty refreshing.

“My family has perfected the art of dodging civilizations for hundreds of years. All I have to do is follow my feet,” Dodge puts it plainly.

The Washington Post reported Monday night that Laura Dowling, who was the White House's head florist since 2009, suddenly left her position. And no one seems to know why.

One source told The Post that Dowling "was escorted from the building" on Friday, February 13 — the day before Valentine's Day.

The paper noted the White House is fond of issuing formal goodbyes when its veteran staffers leave. When the chief pastry chef left last year, President Barack Obama hailed him as a "crust master." When chef Sam Kass left last December, Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama issued separate statements praising him for leaving an "indelible mark on the White House" and "an extraordinary legacy of progress."

"But the recent exit of head florist Laura Dowling ... has been a much quieter affair. So hush hush, in fact, that most outside of 1600 Penn knew nothing about it. There’s still no official comment on why Dowling is no longer at the White House," The Post's Helena Andrews wrote.

Andrews initially only got a brief comment from the White House confirming Dowling's departure. Later, Andrews received an unattributed, longer statement that still did did not explain why the head florist left. When the Post reached out to Dowling's floral design shop, the florist — somewhat strangely — issued her own statement vaguely saying she "resigned in order to pursue exciting new opportunities and explore my passion for floral artistry and design."

One possibility, according to The Post, is that Dowling somehow got on the bad sign of Michelle Obama.

"This absolutely comes from the top," said Kate Andersen Brower, author of the book, "The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House." "The first lady has the final say."
There's a bizarre mystery involving the White House florist, and the rumor is it 'comes from the top'

I don't get why there's this lack of empathy for women that get raped and people go unpunished and its like eh... who cares but you get someone falsely accusing someone of rape and omg you've lit the *** room on fire and we should actually just throw you in there and watch you burn alive for the grave sin you just committed!

For those men out there being falsely accused of rape I tell you to follow the same advice that men on this forum have given to women to avoid being raped. Don't put yourself in a position to be falsely accused in the first place! It's really taht simple! :)

Not really. I watched the press conference, and according to the police investigation, certain people mentioned by the false victim did not even exist.

So she accused people who did not exist of rape, wouldn't answer their questions, and had conflicting stories about all the events.

How are you supposed to not put yourself in that situation when nobody even knows if the situation even existed?

But I will say this, frats are stupid, don't join 'em.

My criticism of her is limited to the fact she makes an already-apathetic portion of the population even more apathetic and dibelieving of victims who actually have suffered this trauma.

That said, reporting a false rape is not on the same level of actually raping someone. Ask yourself this: if you had to pick between someone known to you being raped, or yourself being falsely accused of rape and having to deal with the process of defending yourself, if you don't pick the latter, you're a pretty big dickbag.

Nothing really changes.

Normal people will be aware that this lady is a douche for false-accusing, the MRAs will declare rape doesn't exist, the feminists will continue to point out gang rapes and murders, wheels keep on turnin', politics gonna keep on churnin'

Remember lads, the only people being raped in America right now are white men.

(Seriously, I read this last week.)

Yes, but let's keep in mind there is a general portion of the American public that lets themselves be swayed by things like the nightly news, and when the news reports this story, it just pushed further rape victims out of there heads because "eh, they could be lying". Meanwhile, they're busy shedding a tear because their favorite celeb couple broke up.

You can only have so much sympathy before you grow fatigued, and it would be nice for once if the narrative in this country managed to put some of that sympathy somewhere that could actually make a difference.

I know, I know. I'm being an idealistic feelsfool again.

If they do not exist then there is no real issue... A fake person can't be charged with a crime.

In any case I think you missed the entire point of my post but maybe you haven't been around for these rape talks where posters here tell womens not to dress sexy or drink alcohol because they're just asking to get raped if they do that. therefore ya know you say the equally ridiculous well just don't put yourself in the situation guys and it won't happen.

I've seen the conversations. It kinda goes both ways. Like those fake cat call videos feminists groups post.

I'm not saying rape doesn't exist, but sometimes I wonder if they call it rape just for the sympathy. I mean a whole article in a magazine just for the feels about something that never occurred.

On a related note for anyone who watched the press conference live, did you catch the part where the guy accidentally said the women's real first name?

Nope. Her real name, was something with a L. Lauretta, Laura, or something like that. The guy was "Oh, I mean Jackie."

I think they cut that part out for the recorded version.

It's probably a good thing that you refrain from saying that rape doesn't exist because it does and it's pretty prevalent around the world. Call it rape for sympathy? God... you know men get raped too right? little boys and girls and men and women... how can you even let *** like that slip through your lips?

But for sure false accusations exist right and those are the real problem anyways lol...

Never mind you're trying over generalize things where I'm talking about a very specific case.

Here's a better question then: How can I take someone seriously when they claimed to be rape but yet there is no evidence?

Do I take each accusation with a grain of salt or completely serious and demonize the person they accuse without a second thought?
