Not really all that endearing to hear...

That's actually kind of depressing to even think about.

"well, at least you are not Lordgrim" *ponders* "Holy ***, so I'm not quite as delusional as he is, but pretty close, and you actually compared a human being to... to... THAT!?"

*ends life*

As the Fox came into the cave to pay his respects, that would have proven the wolf was wrong, angry though the Lion obviously was.

While the final line the fox gave the wolf is correct, the means in which he went from being insulted, to provoking the ailing King to the taking of another's life, has shown the worst in himself, the worst in the wolf, and the worst in the lion, by means of manipulation.

Whilst I can be said that defending yourself is well and good, going so far to manipulate others to show the world their worst side you are by association, doing the same to yourself. Showing those potentially good friends, and even the good friends you have, that you are willing to expose the worst of yourself, in order to draw out the worst in others. (This is the psychological standpoint)

That being said, I empathize with none depicted in the story, nor with the reader or author, as Aesop's fables were meant to be a means to teach lessons about life and subjective morality.

I identify with no one of the three. Nor sympathize.

I also specifically used the word empathize in place of sympathy, considering most people use them incorrectly.

By that I mean people tend to use "sympathy" (which is to feel sorry for) as a replacement for "empathy" (which is to feel with, or understand), since sympathy is the furthest thing away from understanding.

So the correct ethics of being accused of something negative is to lie and murder (that Lion did the deed just makes him equally culpable, not solely).

That's *** insane. No wonder you fly off the handle. Do you know what "disproportionate response" means? You'd make a spectacular absolute monarch: living under you would be like living under the Queen of Hearts in Wonderland. And make no mistake, your ethics only work if you can place yourself above concepts like justice and law.

Harming someone for vengeance is something I just can't accept.
I've done it once when I was 18 and a complete mess. It's one of those things I don't forgive myself for.

I understand the difference. Path is latin for suffering. My English teacher in HS explained it as sympathy means to suffer with, and empathy means to suffer as if it was your own. She could be incorrect but that's what I've always gone by.

I think that would be a fun topic :)

>accuses people of flying off the handle
>flies off the handle by dishing out insults for a differing opinion out of nowhere and attacks someones character

Would you like an award?
Sorry, but I have to say, your English teacher was not at all correct in how Sympathy works. It means to feel sorry for another's suffering, not to suffer with, while Empathy means to understand that suffering.

Believe it or not, even people with an obsession understand things more than those who project sympathy, considering no one who is suffering actually wants to be felt sorry for, thus the greatest discrepancy between understanding.

Well, to take out a dictionary:
Sympathy is harmony of or agreement in feeling, as between persons or on the part of one person with respect to another.

Empathy is the psychological identification with or vicarious experiencing of the feelings, thoughts, or attitudes of another.

So in one you feel to a degree what they feel and empathy is you've had it yourself because you've been there is another way I've heard it put. Do you agree with that?
Only partially, and you should really source which dictionary term you are using, since a lot of them can vary based on interpretation.
