Amy Schumer is kinda funny, but she's a beast.

Many female comics tend to trend towards female-oriented humor which at times kinda loses it's appeal. It's alot like minority comics who use racial jokes or rely on very one-trick sets.

I tend to like the "quirky" ones that stay away from vagina this and that.
Cause sex jokes are funny but get old fast. I can't tell you how many times I see an Asian comic and already know we're going into slanty eye, overbearing parents or Engrish jokes.

That reminds me of Carlos Mencia one of the worst comics I've ever watched.

That's precisely why I think she's kinda funny, it's pretty raw. I take it back, she's not a beast, Lisa Lampinelli is a beast. Amy Schumer is somewhere in between. He hits a few Asian jokes, but they mostly focus on his experiences as an Asian-Irish guy from Pittsburgh. Offline

I'm not sure if Lisa Lampinelli is a woman...
I rather listen to a feminist shout patriarchy at me than watch Lisa... Comedy Central used to showcase a lot of good comics but now it is just a bunch of third rate shows Outside of Daily Show and South park. It really comes down to delivery if you're going to tread on familiar ground. Delivery is equally as important as the jokes themselves. If the comic looks fired up and having a good time, the audience most likely will too. Offline

Speaking of something terribly unfunny I tried to watch 2 broke girls. Mother of God is that show terrible.

I'm telling you, early-2000s Comedy Central is where it was at. Comedy Central Presents was amazing. Not all the comics were good, obviously, but it was such a great thing. It's gone downhill a lot. They're on Amazon Prime, largely for free, if you've got a sub for it. fonewear said: » Speaking of something terribly unfunny I tried to watch 2 broke girls. Mother of God is that show terrible. But that female version of the hangover (forgot the name) I couldn't wait for it to be over. As a side note: Bad Teacher was so bad, I couldn't watch the whole thing. Offline

They do the worst stereotypical Asian jokes I've ever seen like Jr. High level.

Pretty much all sitcoms are bad and have been since...well, Friends, honestly, destroyed the sitcom, imo. Just my opinion though. Try watching a sitcom with the laugh track removed and see how much less funny everything seems. They're just terrible. fonewear said: » Speaking of something terribly unfunny I tried to watch 2 broke girls. Mother of God is that show terrible. They took all the jokes one step too far and it just became a mockery of itself. Which is sort of exestential, when you think about it. Offline

I even gave the BBT a shot I don't think geek humor is that funny though.
There is a fine line of awkwardness where it just become awkward and not funny. fonewear said: » I even gave the BBT a shot I don't think geek humor is that funny though. Big Bang Theory isn't geek humor. It's what a bunch of people who aren't actually geeks think geek humor is. There's a major difference. Don't worry. The "geek bubble" will burst soon, super heroes and sci-fi will stop being cool again, and we'll just be a bunch of nerds to the world again. Offline

That is true.
I don't particularly like the actors either. Asura.Kingnobody said: » fonewear said: » Speaking of something terribly unfunny I tried to watch 2 broke girls. Mother of God is that show terrible. CSPAN is amazing. No other network has achieved that perfect balance of making people laugh and putting them to sleep. Offline

Never underestimate hollywood's ability to draw blood from a stone. Did anyone actually see Dumb and Dumber to? I never got to it, heard it was terrible but I LOVED the first one. Offline

Problem with shows like that they are normally on at like 3 am !
I think the whole comic book movie thing jumped the shark about 10 years ago. People find funny the humour that appeals to their interests, their situations or that matches the same type of humour that person uses too. That's why people laugh about different things.
I like Big Bang Theory for the heavy use of sarcasm for example. |
