The Amazon reviews for 50 shades contain better writing than the actual book.
What the school should have done is called the parents in for a meeting, and then make them sit detention.
"For detention today, you'll be analyzing 50 Shades of Grey for grammatical errors."
That'll keep them there all day. Offline

I'm going to write a book called "The Silent Protagonist". It won't have any words or pictures.

Apart from the 'ooh, it has something to do with sex' factor? Apart from the 'ooh, it has something to do with sex' factor? I feel its inappropriate given the age group as I doubt any 11 year old *really* understands the subject of that book. It feels like one of those tryhard moments where someones parents try to be edgy but comes off looking like a moron. It's like dressing your kid up as a dictator or serial killer to me. You're using your kid as a pawn to shock people. Bahamut.Milamber said: » Maybe someone can explain to me why it is inappropriate to allow him to dress up as that character, if he so decides? Apart from the 'ooh, it has something to do with sex' factor? There's nothing wrong with it. The only people who would even understand the reference would be the adults, and even then, they'd have to ask the kid who he was dressed as. It's not exactly a costume you could look at and think "OMG he's Christian Grey!" Offline

Maybe it has something to do with an 11 year old, who doesn't understand the concept of sex, much less BDSM activeties, the adult nature of the book, the character, the
Horrible, horrible ***that somehow got passed off as writing among other themes of domestic violence, abuse, and so forth dressing as the title character who does all of these things?

Quote: Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi has called on Russia to help tackle the crisis in Libya, saying Moscow could play a determining role in settling the ongoing conflict in the North African country. During a Thursday meeting with President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin in Moscow, Renzi emphasized the need for a “strong international response” to the chaos in Libya, adding, “I am confident that the Russian Federation may play a decisive role in resolving the problem.” President Putin, for his part, welcomed UN-backed efforts to help end the Libyan turmoil, adding, “We had a detailed discussion of the terrorist threat coming from the Middle East and North Africa, particularly the sharp deterioration of the situation in direct proximity to Italy, in Libya.” Maybe you guys are bit out of touch, but 11 years old, well not all but many, masturbate so actively they could provide more energy than a nuclear powerplant.
Is their understanding of sex mature? Nah, but they're already into it. Besides, he didn't show up dressed in a leather slave outfit, just as a gentleman, with not even that shocking tools(oh my god a sleep mask!) Is the book garbage? Yes. Should the parents know better? Yes. Is he outrageous? Lol no. Also, I think most guys take a couple more years to get around to that level. Newer generations 'grow up' much faster than we did. Liberalization and overexposition to sex cause them to evolve much more quickly.

Much like dry-rubbing your favorite piece of wood. It will never be the same thing as understanding what that wood can do when properly worked with. Offline

I miss playboys though something magical about seeing your first playboy as a kid.
It's called parenting for a reason, not let your children do whatever they want.

If it isn't the parents putting him up to it, and it's his choice, is more harm done by preventing him from wearing it than not? Leviathan.Chaosx said: » It's called parenting for a reason, not let your children do whatever they want. ^^^^^^^^^^^ I'm pretty liberal about sex but if my kid said he wanted to dress up as the lead of a BDSM novel I'd be like 'nope.' with reflex. It's a bad idea, it's not even clever, not appropriate and is surely going to elicit some backlash / my time wasted. 11 year olds are 11. They spout stupid ideas that you're supposed to filter. Aside from that, going through the article, it was the parents who had put him up to the "joke" of dressing and carrying himself as Christian Grey. I get that kids that age aren't all rainbows and unicorns. I sure as hell wasn't all rainbows and unicorns. I was more like Strawberry Poptarts and Bacon n Eggs. Offline

When I was 11 I wasn't into hardcore porn yet those were simpler times !
Wait till you are 13 to get into the hardcore stuff. Me and other girls from my school in hs were hit on by 9~10 years old kids too ffs. There was an elementary school just a little away from ours so otw there in the morning we always had to deal with these smug little vulgar shits and their comments.

There's also the issue that given the policy of the school board, etc. the parents and child are in violation of the agreed upon terms. This can lead to suffering socially (C'mon, they are 11 year old kids, being social and with friends is everything) aside from suffering academically, or becoming the "class clown" to gain any kind of attention, positive or negative.
In situations like this, one instance is all it takes to turn ***upside down, before you're living with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air. Right, and there's a build-up there, but you learn all the naughty words and some of the naughty deeds before you're able to actually do them, and what does a kid do when he learns something new and naughty? He uses it to try to impress them others, often at the expense of someone else! Do you [anyone] think it's perfectly fine for an 11 year old to dress up as Clayton Bigsby?

I think 11 year olds should worry about being a kid not jerking like there is no tomorrow. But that is me.
