Also, you influence people on this website. I have to check my words often when I argue with you, otherwise I'm afraid that I will be topic banned or worse. You are the only mod who would ban me for little reason.
You probably influence your coworkers and even your boss(es) too. I know that I do, I give my bosses suggestions (along with my reasoning for the suggestion) and they (mostly) act on it.
Your influence and power is more than I think you give yourself credit for.
I come from an extremely independent family. Yes, I say things that they should do with particular things but that's about all the influence I have on them.
As for work, I just shut my mouth and do what my bosses tell me to do. Hit that quota and only that quota with 100% accuracy. That's the secret on how to keep a job.

I have to carry my company laptop, several files (some of which can be as large as 4" thick) and various other items (every once in a while I bring a 10 key calculator small enough to fit in one).
These items (especially the laptop and files) are too important to put in the headrack, and pretty much needs to be held in front of me at all times.
That's kind of what I'm saying, though. Some people are being rude and just taking whatever space they want to; some have no choice but to take up more space for whatever reason.
That's got nothing to do with aggressivity or male (or female) dominance.
It's just...life.
Yes, I get that you(one or more):
- packed more than you can comfortably carry
- do not wish to carry your carry-on on you due to clothing
- did not want to pay baggage check fees
- did not want your luggage going missing
- have medical reasons/devices
But you need to realize your *** has now effectively been extended by two to four feet, so that clever 'just squeeze right by them' means that you placed a nice obstruction right at their ankles. Or when you stop, you need to continue to move the bag up next to or in front of you.
Next time you are in a busy airport with some time on your hands, watch the flow of foot-traffic. Stupid amount of obstruction happens as a result of those simple things. The next is probably not getting out of the flow of traffic when coming to a stop, but hey.
