Obama's problem is he is smug arrogant and won't admit he ever makes mistakes.
It isn't about him being cool or whatever. I don't care if he is a good person in real life. He was elected to lead not go on Jimmy Kimmel and laugh it up.
You didn't say competent, or have good policies. You said "likable."
I like some serial killers more than I like Donald Trump.
Doesn't mean I want to share a room with either of them, or let either of them decide anything that has an effect on my life.

Speaking of two terms I think we should get rid of that. One term President is fine with me. They don't do anything in the second term anyways.

Obama set out to do a lot of stuff and instead of accomplishing his goals he bitched an moaned like a baby.

Reagan and Obama have been the only candidates of the past 30 years who have been likable.
Did half the country despise Reagan? I'm gonna go out on a limb and call your statement invalid.
And before you play the race card.. Don't..

Had a discussion the other day with some friends. In order to cut down on all this stupid campaigning and make our political system viable again, the next president should propose a 6yr term and you can only hold it once. Congress Should be limited too one term as well.
Oh and the nest president needs to step down after his 4yr term is up, to make a point! I hope Trump picks a good running mate...

First off, "the race card" isn't really my particular calling card. There are, assuredly, a select few (relative to the total number of detractors he has) people who hate him just because he's black, but they're not nearly as prevalent as some would have you believe. I'll point out racism where I think I'm seeing it but it's hardly my go-to. And it's certainly not my opinion here.
Especially since, again, I'm talking independent of their politics. I'm talking about them as likable people. I despise many of Reagan's policies. Doesn't mean he doesn't seem like a good guy at heart who was horribly misguided in my opinion. You can hate every political aspect of Obama and admit that he might be an okay dude to have a beer and watch a game with.
Actually, I take that back what I said before.
I would probably put George Bush II at the top of my likable list and I blew right past him in my thought process.
I saw him speak in person at Annapolis four months before 9/11 during the short, untarnished period of his presidency. He seemed like a very genuine, likable person. I disliked many of his subsequent policies, but -- and I've said this before -- as a human being he seems like an okay enough guy.

The article Foney linked actually suggests the single six-year term or abolishing term limits entirely. I don't think either actually fixes the problem, as the article also touches upon.

Interestingly enough I ran across this article before coming here this AM:
The secret history of cowboy socialism
I was bored and this is long.. Read at your own risk.. Quote: The rugged pastoralist, squinting down from atop a faithful horse and underneath a faded Stetson. The man who can build a fire in the rain, break a horse, de-horn a bull, ride all day chasing steers, mend a fence, set a broken bone, build a cabin from cut logs.
Turns out I'm a cowboy.. Who knew.
Quote: Bundy's ideas are nonsense No.. LOL, this is nonsense!
Quote: Though there have been Americans who could survive completely unaided in the West — men like Kit Carson and Jim Bridger — there were only a handful of them, and most were at least half-crazed. No society on Earth has ever functioned wholly on self-interested individualism — and that holds doubly true for the West. From the very start to the present day, Big Government has been the very bedrock of the settlement of the American frontier.
The next few paragraphs are poor Indians, white man evil, and WAR bad!
Quote: After the end of the homesteading era, the government asserted federal control over the remaining unclaimed land. Some was reserved for national parks and monuments but, the bulk of it was turned over to agencies like the Grazing Service and the General Land Office, which would eventually become the Bureau of Land Management.
Interesting how this "writer" glosses over the FACTS that the BLM took over the Grazing Service and General Land Office, Then all these Problems started to happen.
Quote: Under Western pressure, these were immediately captured by the big ranching barons, granting them grazing rights at a fraction of the market rate (meaning much of the management work carried out by these agencies had to be paid out of federal coffers). The effects on the land's long-term health were disastrous. So far the biggest lie in this article. Granting grazing right is EXACTLY what the GRAZING SERVICE was made to too. They could more than afford to pay for the "management work" that is total B.S. As for the long-term land health.. /facedesk The federal government didn't and doesn't take care of the land anywhere near as well as the ranchers did and do.. This writer is spreading lies and misinformation.. typical democrat strategy!
The next few paragraphs are about how the New Deal made it possible for cities to expand into places like Vegas and blames the yeoman farmers and climate change for the now dwindling water supply. This is the worst case of narrow vision I've read in quite some time.
Quote: It's hard going, and one reason is the cowboy political tradition represented by Ammon Bundy and his pack of revolutionary wannabes, who want to pay zero in federal grazing fees and end the federal ownership of land. Well since lying is the theme this paragraph is no different. They don't want to pay zero grazing fees and they just want the federal government to STOP EXPANDING into their property! You take the time to read this POS article but you won't take the time to learn about why all of this ***is happening in the first place.. WOW!
Quote: Until the West can get over its childish insistence that it can too become self-reliant, or that the federal government which supports it is somehow illegitimate, it will continue to struggle with patchy development and inept governance. Ahh there it is name calling and blaming everything on someone other than the federal government. I feel dirty now, need to go take a shower.

That's interesting, I didn't read it.. Sorry Fone. Why don't you think it doesn't at least start to help fix the massive problem that is our political system?
First off, "the race card" isn't really my particular calling card. I didn't just put that their for you.
Especially since, again, I'm talking independent of their politics. I'm talking about them as likable people. I despise many of Reagan's policies. You can hate every political aspect of Obama and admit that he might be an okay dude to have a beer and watch a game with. No, sorry.. I think he is a horrible person tbh and his politics are only just a reflection of that. I thought this before he was elected and I think it to be even truer now after 7yrs of listening to him talk.
BushII has always seemed likable alas it didn't show through his politics.
I met him once briefly before he was president when my wife went to Texas to speak at an art convention. We stayed at one of his friends house and he happened to stop by that day.

Okay, well, I'm not quite sure how you arrive at that position but it's an opinion and I can't really say "you're wrong," but...
...can we at least agree that Fone is off his *** rocker? Even if Trump had it within him to be the best *** president ever, there's squat about the guy that actually makes him likable?

I've got this ongoing theory that Trump is actually the Republicans Obama. Which is making a lot of sense to me at least.
In theory Obama when campaigning supposedly had it within him to be the best president ever and people thought he was so likable and the best thing since sliced bread.
Why? I dunno I seen a guy who pandered to the low information voters, played the race card, lied, and had absolutely nothing to show that would make him a good president let alone a great one.
Now Trump in comparison has a massive group of followers that think he is the best thing since sliced bread and they all love him!
Why? Well I have an idea.. This time.. While he does pander to low information voters, plays the birther card, race card, immigrant card.,,Basically using the whole entire deck of cards. He does have a few things that may make him a good president you cannot deny the guy that. As for being likable if he is saying things that you want to hear, just like Obama did. It's a good chance that you are going to like him.

It's okay to call big corporations and megalomaniacal CEOs evil, but make sure you do it like most people -- by posting status updates on Facebook from an iPhone. The irony really sells the point.

How so? Because he wants to make the country safer? He did not say ban Muslims from coming in, He said to put a temporary hold on refugees until we can vet them properly. For Christ sakes look what Germany is going through right now. You want that here? He is also not anti-mexican like liberals love to portray, he wants legal immigration. Stop eating the liberal media and do some research, you'd see hes not that bad.
