Where I live if someone would even mention this, they would be laughed out of the PTA meeting.

Like I said, it's your health, not mine. I told my personal experience and you try to correct it? No, thanks, I'll stick my diet and eat healthy.
If you're actually healthy, cheers. What kind of exercise are you capable of?

'cause, you know, anecdote means bugger all compared to science. Which is ironic when you pitch a fit at me about the scientific method. But if you're able to run a half-marathon or bike 50 miles or squat 200 lbs., you're probably healthy. If you're just going by having a 30' waist and an arbitrary BMI while huffing and puffing to climb 5 flights of stairs, though...

I would just like to note I can squat above 200 and I still huff and puff after 5 flights of stairs.

not disagreeing, in the public school setting anyway.

edit: we can talk about how they're run and the rules they make in that structure, or we could talk about changing the structure entirely, there's a lot of opposition to the latter, from many sides.

Is that directed at me? Because I produce, from scratch, well over 90% of the food I consume. And I use table sugar when cooking or baking.

Just because I don't really eat that stuff doesn't mean I'm going to condemn it arbitrarily when the science does not support it.

It's directed at people who consume far too much HFCS infused drinks and get mad when you tell them that's not healthy.

So do you consider yourself healthy, then?

I have spent entire days at work carrying cabinetry up 3-4 flights of stairs. Nothing quite like 4 continuous hours of hauling 50-100 lbs. of wood, metal, and granite, up stairs while wearing steel-toed boots. And then hopping on my bike and riding at least 6 miles to get home and make dinner. I actually have no idea what I squat, though, because I see no reason to pay money for a gym membership while working this job.

I drink way too many, but I know and can admit that I do, sugary drinks, yet I'm not going to get mad at others for pointing out that truth.

I'm overweight and know what I need to do to fix it, but obviously it doesn't bother me enough to change it. (although I did buy a bicycle to start getting some exorcize)

There are those out there though that will get upset and tell you to stop persecuting fat people...

There really wasn't a point in the inquiry to you, since I know what your fitness is like having discussed it with you. I was just curious since we had talked about it.

Fast forward to 2 years later and I only drink 32-48 ounces a day now. The rest is water.

EDIT: And the only other source of sugar I intake is from blackberries and raspberries, which also contain vast amounts of fiber.

All the stuff I read about in the so called news nowadays seems to totally skip over my area.

No banning milk
No Obama mandatory diet
No common core
Kids actually are allowed to play cowboys and indians, they can even make the gun motion and say Bang!

About the only thing I can't complain about is the school system here.

not really going to get into this as it's way too politically motivated of a comment.

I sometimes wonder what people would be like if they didn't cling to their automatic partisan hate-speech. Because Barack Obama nor Michelle Obama have had any real impact on school diets seeing as schools are managed at the local and state level.

Have you seen the stuff Michelle Obama has been pushing on schools?
If its not coming from her, why is she "taking credit" who is doing it?

P.S. I have no clue what Big city school systems are like, I just know enough not to ever send a child to one.

Skipping over a few pages this whole thing looks like a bipartisan convergence zone to me.

Republican no fun zone and Democratic nanny state shake hands.

Oh... the chocolate milk they serve in schools is always almost always 2%. The butterfat content that isn't needed to bribe kids into drinking it is worth more elsewhere.

Alti can tell you all about the economics of butterfat content. When he talks about cows, dairy farming, or milk he is a knowledgeable, sustainable, best practices farmer.
