Oh boy, more of this.

I suspect the reason it hasn't shown up much on the national stage is because who the *** cares about Mississippi? You know that one drunk uncle whom you suspect is molesting his kids? That's Mississippi.

This nonsense won't last long. And incompetent business-owners will learn the hard way.
I know you're trying to be funny, but this type of mindset regarding the south really gets old. As someone who lives 20 minutes from the MS/AL state line, it's not as bad as people make it out to be, it is usually centralized to certain parts. Sure, there are definitely ignorant rednecks, but they're certainly not exclusive to the south.
I'm Scottish. If it makes you feel better, make all the jokes you like about the number of ovines I've buggered, k?

I think I'm just going to start practicing praying to Odin and Thor.
One worships the Norse gods with sacrifices. Goats are offered to Thor, men are offered to Odin.

I would stay away from worshiping the Allfather were I you.

Good for Mississippi!

What problems do people have again with the free exercise of religious beliefs?

businesses aren't entitled to freedom of religion, other than that, only when practicing your religion effects other people negatively.

I'm late to the party, but haven't businesses in general always had the right to deny service to anyone they see fit? I don't think they're obligated to state why either. So what would this law specifically change? I am sure there are plenty of nuances between old store policies and an actual law.

I'm all for freedom of religion as long as it doesn't offend me.

Last I checked people are going to be terrible with or without religion. So the discrimination thing doesn't work for me.

It is ok to discriminate people anyway. As long as they are rich, white males.

Anyone else, you get slapped with a lawsuit.

Go go Civil Rights Act! Bringing society down since 1957.

you are correct in most cases. in a small town where you have a business that is doing just fine with the support of your community who are likeminded to you and having someone new come in and you refuse service because of your beliefs they should not be able to sue you just because of that, thats BS.
But being denied service based on innate characteristics beyond your control is A-OK, partner!

Hmmm, you have no control whom you sleep with?

this is the problem right here. when ppl are not tolerant of LGBT ppl flip out but when ppl are not tolerant to religious beliefs its ok.
best of luck.

People don't need to be tolerant of bigoted beliefs, no matter if they're religious in nature or not.

The problem is bigoted *** hats keep trying to hide behind the guise of their religions to keep being bigots, it's disgusting. The supposed "war on religion" is an artificial and false concept by people who are bullies and don't want people fighting back.

Do you have any idea how stupid you look when you blatantly state Intolerance and bigotry are wrong, but its ok to not tolerate bigotry of a certain kind. Double standard much?

Corporations ARE people. The bill of rights does not only apply to you as long as you're in the privacy of your home.

There is NOTHING in this bill about denying service to LGBT. By that I mean there is no language indicating such.

Aren't you discriminating against businesses by assuming everyone will use this as a club to beat up on gays? That's mighty bigoted of you!

when your religion tells you to discriminate against other people based on their race or sexual orientation.

But all the other basis' for discrimination are ok? Gotcha!

Will that work instead?

yup if you're stealing or fighting or naked in my store, I have the right to throw you out. Typical common sense. I don't have the right to throw you out just because "my deity considers your people the scum of the earth" though. You could say as a store owner I discriminate against people throwing punches or naked people in my store.

Or is this all the same thing in your eyes?
That's not discrimination, that is preventing theft in your store. Discrimination is disallowing services because of passive actions, not active ones.

Never read in the bible about race discrimination but it does talk about sexual orientation. so you can't keep people out due to race it says he loves the Red, Yellow, Black or White children of the world! right or wrong that's how I see it!

I think its already been established that Nausi is a homophobic bigot, any attempt to further reason is just an exercise in posturing. Thrice in this thread alone he's regurgitated the same tired arguments about bestiality, lack of control etc etc.

Discrimination is a natural human practice, it is a natural right. Everyone does it on a daily basis. To criminalize it is simply wrong. If you drive the short way from point a to point b you are favoring option a and discriminating against option b. Why are you so bigoted towards option b, you hater?

This country is FOUNDED on religious freedom. If the puritans had not fled England to seek a land in which they could freely discriminate based on the beliefs of their religion, we would probably all not be here today. If my religion considers people who eat pork or drink alcohol to be unclean/unworthy then by the free exercise of it, I am allowed to discriminate against that particular group.
