Justices strike down political donor limits

Quote:
Washington (CNN) - In another blow to federal election laws, the Supreme Court on Wednesday eliminated limits on the total amount people can donate to various political campaigns in a single election season. However, the court left intact the current $5,200 limit on how much an individual can give to any single candidate.

Victory for free speech everywhere. If i want to donate my entire life's fortune to promoting a particular public policy via a political campaign, why should I be prevented from doing so?

Because then you've just created a small subset of individuals (i.e. not you) whose money makes them much free-er than anyone else.

It's all freedom until you're ruled by oligarchs and democracy is suspended for the eternal rule of our divine (and moneyed) overlords. I mean why vote for elected officials? If you're rich, you've proven yourself successful. Lets cut to the chase here.

I want Charlie Sheen drafting drug legislation, stat.

Somehow I feel like we've been there before...

Next up, elimination of term limits. Then life long elected officials. Then Ghandi disrupts our control of India and we have to give Hong Kong back to China.

Ah I see, so you're really only limited by your own means?

Some people naturally have louder voices than others. I guess that's unfair too, we should totally censor them so that no one is louder than anyone else.

How about they just battle to the death to see who gets elected next ?

Or have an eating contest. You can eat 30 hot dogs that man deserves to be President.

This thread is a prime example of people going against they're own interests ('cause I know none of y'all are rich ***) just to spite the libtardos. I'm sure the aristocracy is pleased with your efforts and a reward biscuit will be assigned to everyone soon.

Anecdote, but my parents had to cancel their health insurance because it was getting to around 600/month. They now pay around 120/month.

Thanks, Obama.

Pretty much everyone Fox News or Koch Brothers ad has brought on was challenged and showed that they either had garbage insurance or their rates would have gone down if they actually looked into Obamacare. Are there any stories of anyone's rates legitimately going up for little to no reason?

my freshman civics teacher was legit. I never turned in a single assignment, but aced all his tests, so I was expecting a C or D, and the old timer came through & gave me an A. loved that guy.

one day tony fell asleep in there, & teach picked up his whole desk, him still sleeping, & dropped it from 2 feet off the ground. the terror in his face upon hitting the ground was priceless.
